  • For high density optical storage, there should be a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode. To secure the disc tilt margin related to the coma aberration, moreover, it's difficult to apply the tilt compensation mechanism into the portable PC. In this paper, we proposed the 3-axis asymmetry pickup actuator with high efficiency symmetric magnetic circuit, which consisted of the top cover type inner yoke for high magnetic flux density, the coil stack unit for the 3-axis independent operation and vertically polarized magnets.   • This paper describes the proceedings of creating countermeasures after analysis and maintenance be able to conduct operation safely in a power plant. in order to operate the power plant in a stable and reliable way, the best condition of the govemor system can be maintained through the response characteristic analysis of the control device for the pitch blade control hydraulic actuator. The fan pitch blade control hydraulic actuator of a 500MW large-scale boiler is frequently operated under normal operation conditions. Common problems or malfunctions of the pitch blade control hydraulic actuators leads to the decline of boiler thermal efficiency and unexpected power plant trip. The inlet and outlet gas can be controlled by using the fan pitch blade control hydraulic actuator in order to regulate the internal pressure of the furnace and control the frequency in the power plant facility which utilizes soft coals as a power source.

  • Many application in robotics, telecommunication, automation systems etc require powerful actuator. The powerful actuator have Speeds up to high speed and high output torque efficiencies. To accomplish a powerful actuator, these powerful motor have to be combined with gearheads of the same outer diameter. So, we have developed BLDC motor and planetary type gearheads as powerful actuator. The BLDC motor have advantages that compact structure, high efficiency, high reliability. The Planetary type gearheads have advantages that same-axle structure, high torque transmission, low noise in comparison with spur gearheads. In this study included BLDC motor and planetary type gearheads design, manufacture. This time study peformed for actuator of entertainment robot.

  • A piezoelectric actuator. which is composed of a piezoelectrically driven stator and a rotor, Is made and the characteristics are investigated experimentally is a new ultrasonic actuator which transforms rotary motion to linear one is proposed and proved to work successfully. If an ultrasonic wave is excited to propagate in the stator, particles on the internal surface move elliptically. Since the internal surface is machined as an internal thread and an external thread(rotor) is put into the stator. the external thread is rotated through the friction force and moved in the axial direction. The traveling wave is excited by a piezoelectric element bonded to the stator. This idea is firstly proposed by S. Ueha, et al. in 1987. However, efficiency of their actuator is less than 3%. In this study, in order to improve characteristics of this type actuator, we used various pitches and number of the screw thread, and materials of rotor, and we obtained good charcteristics.

  • Electro-Active Paper (EAPap) is attractive as an EAP actuator material due to its merits in terms of lightweight, dry condition, large displacement output, low actuation voltage and low power consumption. This paper presents the performance of EAPap actuators with thickness variation. The EAPap is made with cellulose paper, and is shown to bend in response to an external electric field. Up to the present, we have tested displacement, current and force of EAPap with 20 $\mu$m thickness. The thickness of EAPap is important factor that affects the performance of the actuator. Therefere, three different thickness of EAPap, 20, 30, and 40 $\mu$m are investigated that inference the tip displacement, blocked force, the resonance and the actuator efficiency. There is an optimum thickness of EAPap, which is resulted from the stiffness and the mass. The performance of EAPap with thickness is discussed.

  • Electromagnetic valve (EMV) actuation system is a new technology for improving fuel efficiency and at the same time reducing omissions in internal combustion engines. It can provide more flexibility in valve event control compared with conventional variable valve actuation devices. The electromagnetic valve actuator must be designed by taking the operating conditions and engine geometry limits of the internal combustion engine into account. To help develop a simple design method, this paper presents a procedure for determine the basic design parameters and dimensions of the actuator from the relations of the valve dynamics, electromagnetic circuit and thermal loading condition based on the lumped method. To verify the accuracy of the lumped method analysis, experimental study is also carried out on a prototype actuator. It is found that there is a relatively good agreement between the experimental data and the results of the proposed design procedure. Through the whole speed range, the actuator maintains proper performances in valve timing and event control.

BD Recorder용 3축 독립구동 Twin-Objective 액추에이터 개발 (Development of Twin-Objective Actuator with Radial Tilt Function for Blu-Ray Disc Recorder)

  • Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in this Blu-Ray Disc Recorder. In order to readout CD and DVD in Blu-Ray Disc Recorder, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D(working distance). This dual-lenses actuator has two objectives in radial direction, one is for CD/DVD and the other is for BD. We had to solve the induced problems of collision between disc and lens, DC tilt increase, AC tilt increase, 2nd resonance deterioration and AC sensitivity drop caused by disposing two lenses in an actuator. Also we developed high response twin- objective actuator with radial tilt function to apply high-speed BD Recorder or BD Player. Consequently we presented that two kinds of dual-lenses actuators for BD Recorder have been possessed good performance in 3 axis directions. And we measured eye patterns of CD, DVD and BD by using one BD optical pick-up with dual-lenses actuator.

  • In case of environment requiring safety such as human body and requiring flexible shape, a conventional mechanical actuator system does not satisfy requirements. Therefore, in order to solve these problems. a research of various smart material such as EAP (Electro Active Polymer), EAC (Electro Active Ceramic) and SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) is in progress. Recently, the highest preferring material among various smart material is EP (Electrostictive Polymer), because it has very fast response time, powerful force and large displacement. The previous researches have been studied properties of polymer and simple control, but present researches are studied a polymer actuator. An EP (Electostrictive Polymer) actuator has properties which change variably ils shape and environmental condition. Therefore, in order to coincide with a user's purpose, it is important not only to decide a shape of actuator and mechanical design but also to investigate a efficient controller. In this paper, we constructed the control logic with an adaptive fuzzy algorithm which depends on the physical properties of EP that has a dielectric constant depending on time. It caused for a sub-actuator to operate at the same time that a sub-actuator system operation increase with a functional improvement and control efficiency improvement in each actuator, hence it becomes very important to manage it effectively and to control the sub-system which Is operated effectively. There is a limitation on the management of Main-host system which has multiple sub-system, hence it brings out the Multi-Vehicle Control process that disperse the task efficiently. Controlling the multi-dispersion system efficiently, it needs the research of Main-host system's scheduling, data interchange between sub-actuators, data interchange between Main-host system and sub-actuator system, and data communication process. Therefore in this papers, we compared the fuzzy controller with the adaptive fuzzy controller. also, we applied the scheduling method for efficient multi-control in EP Actuator and the algorithm with interchanging data, protocol design.

Localized evaluation of actuator tracking for real-time hybrid simulation using frequency-domain indices

  • Accurate actuator tracking plays an important role in real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) to ensure accurate and reliable experimental results. Frequency-domain evaluation index (FEI) interprets actuator tracking into amplitude and phase errors thus providing a promising tool for quantitative assessment of real-time hybrid simulation results. Previous applications of FEI successfully evaluated actuator tracking over the entire duration of the tests. In this study, FEI with moving window technique is explored to provide post-experiment localized actuator tracking assessment. Both moving window with and without overlap are investigated through computational simulations. The challenge is discussed for Fourier Transform to satisfy both time domain and frequency resolution for selected length of moving window. The required data window length for accuracy is shown to depend on the natural frequency and structural nonlinearity as well as the ground motion input for both moving windows with and without overlap. Moving window without overlap shows better computational efficiency and has potential for future online evaluation. Moving window with overlap however requires much more computational efforts and is more suitable for post-experiment evaluation. Existing RTHS data from Network Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) is utilized to further demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. It is demonstrated that with proper window size, FEI with moving window techniques enable accurate localized evaluation of actuator tracking for real-time hybrid simulation.
