  • Leisure constraints mean the factor to constrain individual's leisure activity. Leisure constraints are composed of interpersonal constraints, interpersonal constraints and structural constraints. The purposes of this study are to show that intrapersonal leisure constraints have a strong effect on leisure preference, and leisure constraints are sequential and hierachical process. Intrapersonal constraints effect on leisure constraints in first step. And then interpersonal constraints and structural constraints effect on leisure participation. Those three leisure constraints are all linked together and come out step by step. Regarding adults as a population, who are more than 20-year-old and live in Seoul, 9 dongs were chose after dividing into upper and lower classes according to the value of their residence. The questionnaire consists of 4 parts: intrapersonal constraints, interpersonal constraints, structural constraints, and demographic characteristics. Results of this paper is that people who have strong intrapersonal constraints normally have problems caused from social structure. Intrapersonal constraints and structural constrains come out not seperately but together. Then, it can be said that structural constraints have an influence over intrapersonal constraints. So, it's necessary to solve structural problems to increase preferences and participations of them.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the Constraints in Physical Activity Scale for people with physical Disabilities(CPASD) which measures the constraints in physical activity of people with physical disabilities. For this study, the 5 step analytic framework of unified validity developed by Messick (1995), the framework for conducting a strong program of construct validation by Benson (1998) method were applied. Furthermore, the validity of CPASD was systematically presented by applying common factor model and measurement model to 264 persons with physical disabilities. The conclusion based on the results and discussions of this study is as follows. First, CPASD presented evidence of job validity. Four factors (17 items) were developed, consisting of leader constraints, economic constraints, prejudice, and exercise environment constraints through the analysis of the factor structure and the fit of factor coefficients. Second, the factor structure of the developed CPASD (leader constraint, economic constraint, prejudice, exercise environment constraint) was statistically distinguished and stably reflected the existing exercise participation constraints theory. Third, the developed CPASD presented evidence of the validity of the criteria. Leader constraints and prejudice were negatively correlated with positive motor emotions, leader constraints, prejudice, and exercise environment constraints were positively correlated with negative motor emotions. Therefore, in future research, it is necessary to reevaluate the current system and actual condition related to leader constraints, economic constraints, prejudices, and exercise environment constraints derived as factors of CPASD. To do this, it is necessary to judge the degree of reality based on the causal relationship verification and IRT theory using CPASD.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand and investigate the process of making negotiation strategy to do leisure activity with overcoming leisure constraints which highschool students participating in their club activity meet. For this study, students who have at least one-year career for their club activity -more than two times a week and two hours at a time -were selected. Survey through in-depth interview, non-participating observation and field note were conducted. The results are as follow. Firstly, the fascination for club activity was the important factor for overcoming leisure constraints. Secondly, leisure constraints never let students stop doing their activity. Thirdly, the subjects of this study practiced negotiation strategies and came to have self-achievement and self-esteem, improving their relationships effectively. Finally, it was found out that they were creating their own club culture with continuous leisure constraints negotiation. The results of this study present the case and the method of continuous students' participation in their leisure and are able to help them to build up their positive leisure experiences.

  • The purpose of this study us to determine the adolescents' leisure activity pattern, leisure constraints and leisure satisfaction and to identify the relevant variables. The subjects were middle and high school students. The data was collected by using the questionnaire and the final 741 cases were analyzed by SPSS Win 10.0 program. The major findings were as follows: 1. The adolescents' leisure activity hours were 2.27hours/day(weekday), 4.20hours/day(Saturday) and 5.35hours/day(Sunday). On weekdays, female students spent more time for leisure activity than male students. The most frequent activities were watching TV and playing computer. 2. The adolescents' leisure constraints were social-economic, psychological and situational. The degree of the adolescents' situational constraint was the highest. 3. The adolescents' leisure satisfactions were leisure use, leisure condition and leisure meaning. The adolescents' degree of leisure meaning satisfaction was relatively high. 4. The major related variable influencing the leisure satisfaction were psychological constraint, situational constraint and gender.

  • The aims of this research are to form a research model for negotiations against leisure constraints, serious leisure activity, and the specialization of sports activity, verify the fitness of this model and define the relationship between the variables in the model. This research was taken on a population of 235 people in the commercial sports center in Seoul city in 2010, taking the members by voluntary, and analyzed them with purposive sampling. The research used AMOS 18.0 program to carry out a covariance structure analysis. The conclusions are as follows. First, serious leisure can be experienced when one puts effort in negotiating against the leisure constraints. Second, when one puts effort in negotiating against leisure constraints, progress is made in specialization of sports activity. Lastly, sports activity becomes more professionalized when one experiences serious leisure.

  • We have many simulation constraints to meet as a modeled system becomes large and complex. Real-time simulations are the examples in that they are constrained by certain non-function constraints (e.g., timing constraints). In this paper, an enhanced hierarchical modeling methodology is proposed to efficiently deal with constraint-simulations. The proposed modeling method enhances hierarchical modeling methods to provide multi-resolution model. A simulation model is composed by determining the optimal level of abstraction that is guaranteed to meet the given simulation constraints. Four modeling activities are defined in the proposed method: 1) Perform the logical architectural design activity to produce a multi-resolution model, 2) Organize abstraction information of the multi-resolution model with AT (Abstraction Tree) structure, 3) Formulate the given constraints based on U (Integer Programming) approach and embrace the constraints to AT, and 4) Compose a model based on the determined level of abstraction with which the multi-resolution model can satisfy all given simulation constraints. By systematically handling simulation constraints while minimizing the modeler's interventions, we provide an efficient modeling environment for constraint-simulations.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate leisure constraints based on the types of leisure sports activity(individual, partner, and group activities) in order to lead people to participate in and to continue their leisure sports activities. Data were collected from leisure sports participants in Seoul and Kyungki province. A total of 286 respondents were selected using the convenience sampling method. Leisure constraint's sub-dimensions for the respondents were named as facility and environment, negative perception, lack of condition, risk of injury, and lack of time. As the results of this study, first, respondents felt facility and environmental constraint the most and negative perception constraint the lowest. Second, there were differences in negative perception and lack of condition constraints based on the magnitude of participation. Finally, there were differences in facility and environment, negative perception, lack of condition, and risk of injury constraints based on the types of leisure sports activity.

  • Time pressure and financial burden have been reported as the main constraints on leisure participation. The purpose of this study was to explore a typology of leisure constraints, investigate the characteristics of leisure constraint types, and analyze the differences in leisure participation by the types of leisure constraints for married employees. The data source for this research was the 2009 Time Use Survey conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office (KNSO). Married employees aged 20 to 59 years completed 13,476 time diaries (7,984 for male, 5,492 for female), which were analyzed using chi-square, cluster analysis, and ANOVA analysis. Leisure constraints were classified into five types in two categories, working time per week and personal income for both males and females respectively. The three types for both males and females were time-income constraints, income constraints, and general constraints, with an additional type for men, $time^+$-income constraints, and an additional type for women, time constraint. The most common type was general constraints, for both males and females. Each type was further differentiated by the following socio-economic variables: age, educational level, job type, and weekly day-off. The study found that participation in study, sports, and religious activities varied with the types of leisure constraints.
