AAM(Active Appearance Model) is one of the most effective ways to detect deformable 2D objects and is a kind of mathematical optimization methods. The cost function is a convex function because it is a least-square function, but the search space is not convex space so it is not guaranteed that a local minimum is the optimal solution. That is, if the initial value does not depart from around the global minimum, it converges to a local minimum, so it is difficult to detect face contour correctly. In this study, an AAM-based face tracking algorithm is proposed, which is robust to various lighting conditions and backgrounds. Eye detection is performed using SIFT and Genetic algorithm, the information of eye are used for AAM's initial matching information. Through experiments, it is verified that the proposed AAM-based face tracking method is more robust with respect to pose and background of face than the conventional basic AAM-based face tracking method.

In this paper we proposed a combined active contour model and motion estimation-based object tracking technique. After assigning the initial contour, we find the object's boundary and update the initial contour by using object's motion information. In the following frames, similar snake algorithm is repeated to make continuously estimated object's region. The snake algerian plays a role in separating the object from background, while motion estimation provides object's moving direction and displacement. The proposed algorithm provides equivalently stable, robust, tracking performance with significantly reduced amount of computation, compared with the existing shape model-based algorithms.

This paper deals with a robust semi-active control algorithm which is applicable to a semi-active suspension with a multi-state damper. Since the controllable damping rates are discrete in case of a multi-state semi-active damper, the desired damping rate can not be produced exactly even if force-velocity relations of a multi-state semi-active damper is completely known. In addition, damping characteristics of the semi-active dampers are different from damper to damper. A robust nonlinear control law based on sliding control is developed. The main objective of the proposed control strategies is to improve ride quality by tracking the desired active force with a multi-state damper of which the force-velocity relations are "not" completely known. The performance of th proposed semi-active control law is numerically compared to those of the control law based on a bilinear model and a passive suspension. The proposed control algorithm is robust to nonlinear characteristics and uncertainty of the force-Velocity relations of multi-state dampers.
This article describes a novel model-based compensating neural network (NN) model developed to be used in our active binocular head controller, which addresses both the kinematics and dynamics aspects in trying to precisely track a moving object of interest to keep it in view. The compensating NN model is constructed using two classes of self-tuning neural models: namely Neural Gas (NG) algorithm and SoftMax function networks. The resultant servo controller is shown to be able to handle the tracking problem with a minimum knowledge of the dynamic aspects of the system.
This paper proposes a hierarchical approach to active shape model using wavelet transform. The proposed algorithm allows us to use both global shape characteristics and finer details for model deformation. The statistical properties of the wavelet transform of a deformable model are analyzed by principal component analysis and used as priors in the contour's deformation.
The cognitive ability of humans depends much on the vision. 'Vision' refers to the sense that receives stimulus of light through eyes. 'Gaze' refers to a function of a straight line that connects the central point of the pupil and a viewpoint in the external world, and, in general, it means a straight line that connects an object that is viewed and the eyes. There are active studies on the gaze in various academic circles including 'psychology' and 'cognitive linguistics.' As a method to objectively analyze the gaze, studies on 'eye tracking' are revitalized. A device for studies on eye tracking is an 'eye tracker.' As the fields of the study expand from development and analysis of Web pages to analysis of stores, methods of traffic signal processing, transport equipment, analysis of user experiences on image contents, and marketing analysis, there occurs a greater demand for a glasses eye-tracking than that for a fixed eye tracker. This study identifies the overview and characteristics of eye tracking and presents a way for spreading studies on eye tracking.
Location positioning systems are available in applications such as mobile, robotic tracking systems and Wireless location-based service (LBS) applications. The GPS system is the most well-known location tracking system, but it is not easy to use indoors. The method of radio frequency identification (RFID) location tracking was studied in terms of cost-effectiveness for indoor location tracking systems. Most RFID systems use active RFID tags using expendable batteries, but in this paper, an inexpensive indoor location tracking system using passive RFID tags has been developed. A pattern matching method and a system for tracing location by generating regression curves were studied to use precision tracking algorithms. The system was tested by verifying the level of error caused by noise. The three-dimensional curves are produced by the regression equation estimated the statistically meaningful coordinates by the differential equation. The proposed system could also be applied to mobile robot systems, AGVs and mobile phone LBSs.
Variable Structure Controller with effective tracking performance is propose to control micro actuator system. Propsed VSC(Variable Structure Control) technique is implemented to tracking control of comb driving system having high non-linearity. The tracking performance due to VSC technique is compared to conventional PD(Proportional Derivative) control technique, reveals improved results.
This paper deals with the problem of moving object detection and location in computer vision. We describe a new object-dependent motion analysis method for tracking target in an image sequence taken from a moving platform. We tackle these tasks with three steps. First, we make an active contour model of a target in order to build some of low-energy points, which are called kernels. Then we detect interest points in two windows called tracking windows around a kernel respectively. At the third step, we decide the correspondence of those detected interest points between tracking windows by the probabilistic relaxation method In this algorithm, the detecting process is iterative and begins with the detection of all potential correspondence pair in consecutive image. Each pair of corresponding points is then iteratively recomputed to get a globally optimum set of pairwise correspondences.

In this paper, we present real-time, accurate face region detection and tracking technique for an intelligent surveillance system. It is very important to obtain the high-resolution images, which enables accurate identification of an object-of-interest. Conventional surveillance or security systems, however, usually provide poor image quality because they use one or more fixed cameras and keep recording scenes without any cine. We implemented a real-time surveillance system that tracks a moving person using four pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. While tracking, the region-of-interest (ROI) can be obtained by using a low-pass filter and background subtraction. Color information in the ROI is updated to extract features for optimal tracking and zooming. The experiment with real human faces showed highly acceptable results in the sense of both accuracy and computational efficiency.
