능동 역지향성 배열 안테나용 공액 위상변위기 (Phase Conjugator for Retrodirective Array Antenna Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 능동 역지향성 배열 안테나용의 마이크로파 공액 위상변위기에 관한 새로운 구조를 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 공액 위상변위기는 Single-Balanced 혼합기를 응용한 것으로, 일반적인 혼합기와 달리, LO 및 RF 신호의 결합과 임피던스 매칭의 복잡성을 줄이기 위해서 2-포트 구조를 채택하였으며, 병렬 연결된 두 개의 Single-Ended 혼합기에 180도 위상반전 회로를 삽입하여, 공액 위상변위기 설계에서 가장 큰 문제가 되는 IF 출력단의 RF 누설성분을 억제하였다. 동작 주파수는 LO 4 GHz, RF 2.01 GHz, IF 1.99 GHz이다. 제작된 공액 위상변위기는 9 dBm의 LO전력에서 변환손실은 -7 dB, 1-dB 억압점 15 dBm의 특성을 보인다. 공액 위상 변위기의 가장 중요한 파라미터인 RF/IF 격리도는 25 dB에 달한다.

  • 2.4 GHz 대역 WLL 단말기용 GaAs MESFET MMIC 송신기를 설계하고 제작하였다. 설계된 송신기는 이중 평형 능동형 혼합기와 전압 부궤환 구조를 갖는 2단 구동증폭기로 구성하였다. 특히, 한 쌍의 소스 접지-게이트 접지(Common-Source. Common -Gate: CSCG) 구조를 사용하여 IF 입력 선호의 비대칭성으로 인한 동작영역 감소를 보상하였다. 또한 MESFET의 단자간 위상 특성을 이용하여 국부 발진기(La) 신호의 누설 전력을 억제 하였다. 제작된 칩의 크기는 $0.75\times1.75 mm^2$이었고 측정 결과 2.7 V. 55.2 mA에서 386 dB의 변환이득. 11.6 dBm 의 출력$P_{idB}$ 구동증폭기의 RF 출력 -5dBm에서 - 31.5 dBc의 IMD3의 특성을 얻었다. 따라서 제작된 송신기는 WLL 단말기에 적용 가능하다.

  • In the catalytic combustor, combustion characteristic and deterioration of catalysts were affected by non-uniformity of pre-mixed gas, Therefore, formation of uniform pre-mixed gas is one of important subjects. In this study, the effect of uniformity and non-uniformity of pre-mixed gas supplied to the catalyst was examined to clarify reaction acceleration and combustion characteristic of the catalytic combustion. It was clarified that static mixer or vaporizer tube length of about 150mm and weak swirl to a combustion air were effictive expedient to make uniform pre-mixed gas. And catalystic inlet temperature needs more than $600^{\circ}C$ with rich pre-mixed gas to active reaction.

  • Effective mixing is an important problem in microfluidics for chemical and biomechanical applications. In this study, the influences of the Reynolds number and the oscillating frequency on mixing characteristics of micro-stirrer are studied in a microchannel with single stirrer. The influence of fluid inertial effects in an active mixer is first discussed. It is found that the stirring effects by stirrer oscillation are promptly attenuated at low Reynolds number, which makes greatly difficult the rapid mixing. As the inertial effects are increased, the chaotic advection is generated and then developed. The mixing phase is finally developed some mushroom shaped structure. And the mixing efficiency is also studied as a function of the oscillating frequency. We found that the mixing efficiency does not always increase with higher oscillating frequency of stirrer. Consequently, we found the functional relation between the optimal frequency of a stirrer and the Reynolds number.

  • A SiGe HBT MMIC double balaced up-converter has been designed and fabricated for C-band WLAN applications. The up-converter is based on the Gilbert cell mixer with an active baluns for differential inputs of LO and IF signals. The designed up-converter exhibits a conversion gain 12.5dB for a -10 dBm LO power. It also exhibits LO-RF isolation of 19.3dBc, and IF-RF isolation of 23.3 dBc at a 1-dB compression point of -14.2dBm

Graphene field-effect transistor for radio-frequency applications : review

  • Currently, graphene is a topic of very active research in fields from science to potential applications. For various radio-frequency (RF) circuit applications including low-noise amplifiers, the unique ambipolar nature of graphene field-effect transistors can be utilized for high-performance frequency multipliers, mixers and high-speed radiometers. Potential integration of graphene on Silicon substrates with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor compatibility would also benefit future RF systems. The future success of the RF circuit applications depends on vertical and lateral scaling of graphene metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors to minimize parasitics and improve gate modulation efficiency in the channel. In this paper, we highlight recent progress in graphene materials, devices, and circuits for RF applications. For passive RF applications, we show its transparent electromagnetic shielding in Ku-band and transparent antenna, where its success depends on quality of materials. We also attempt to discuss future applications and challenges of graphene.

  • Micromixer plays an important role in Bio-MEMS or ${\mu}-TAS$. Mixing is generally generated by turbulence and interdiffusion of two fluids. Because of low Reynolds number(Re << 2000) in ${\mu}-channel$, it is difficult to generate turbulence, so mixing mainly depends on interdiffusion. Thus long channel distance is required to mix two different fluids. To reduce the channel length required for mixing, we propose the a new active ${\mu}-mixer$ that two fluids are effectively mixed in ${\mu}-channel$ by the ultrasonic wave which is generated by PZT. The ultrasonic wave is radiated into a chamber in the cross-section directional direction to interface with the two fluids. The two fluids are positioned one on top of the other. Mixing state is measured by the changing of color due to the reaction of NaOH and phenolphtalein.

  • In this work, mixing phenomena in the mixing chamber of a ultrasonic micromixer are analyzed through an analytical approach. A simplified 2-dimensional model for the ultrasonic micromixer is presented. Analytical solutions for fluid flow induced by ultrasonic waves are obtained through successive approximations method. From simulation results on thermal diffusion in the mixing chamber, effects of relative location, size, and vibration frequency of a piezoelectric material and aspect ratio of the mixing chamber on mixing performance of the ultrasonic micromixer are investigated. Finally, design guidelines for the ultrasonic micromixer are suggested based on the parametric study.

진동 교반기가 있는 미소채널에서 혼합에 대한 Karman 와의 영향 (The Effect of Karman Vortex for Mixing in a Micro-channel with an Oscillating Micro-stirrer)

  • In order to consider the effect of Karman vortex for mixing, mixing indices are calculated for 4 models of micro channel flows driven from the combinations of a circular cylinder and a oscillating stirrer. And their results are compared to that of a simple straight micro channel flow(model I). The mixing rate is improved 5.5 times by Karman vortex (model II) and 11.0 times by the stirrer(model III) respectively. In case of successive mixing by the cylinder and the stirrer(model IV), $27\%$ of shortening the channel length for the complete mixing as well as 1.37 times improvement of mixing efficiency then model III. And then, variation of mixing indices are much stable comparing with the others. Thus, it is found that the Karman vortex plays a good role as a pre-mixing method. The D2Q9 Lattice Boltzmann methods are used.

  • 900 MHz 대역의 ISO-18000-6B형 표준의 수동형 RFID 리더용 트랜시버를 개발하였다. 송신부의 ASK 변조회로는 GaAs SPST 스위치를 이용하여 고속 저전력 변조 회로로 구성하였으며, 수신부에서는 이중 평형 믹서와 비교기를 이용하여 복조회로를 구성하였다. LO 신호에 대한 우수 고조파 성분들을 억압하고 수신기의 선형성을 향상시키기 위하여 연산 증폭기를 이용한 복조회로와 전압 플로워 및 비교기를 사용하여 회로의 복잡성을 개선하였다. 개발된 트랜시버는 $900{\sim}916\;MHz$ 대역에서 6 dBi의 상용 안테나를 사용하여 5 m의 인식 거리를 얻었다.
