걷기지도자 교육과정이 걷기운동지식과 자기효능감에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of a Walking Leader Program on Walking Knowledge and Self-efficacy)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of a walking leader program on changes in walking knowledge and self-efficacy. Methods: The subjects were 276 participants who participated in the nationwide walking leader program 9 times from May to September in 2008. Data were collected before and after the program by an organized questionnaire. Results: 1) Knowledge related to walking exercise increased significantly to 4.14 point from 2.90 point after the program (t=-20.70, p<.001). 2) Self-efficacy related to walking exercise increased significantly to 4.08 point from 3.40 point after the program (t=13.93, p<.001). 3) Significant factors that affected knowledge and self efficacy before the program were regular exercise and subjective health status. The history of chronic disease and smoking were significantly affecting factors to knowledge and self-efficacy after the program. Conclusion: The walking leader program promoted the participants' walking knowledge and selfefficacy. It is necessary to develop more specific programs tailored to socio-demographic characteristics of participants and to make efforts to increase participants with active public information.

중년기 성인의 우울, 피로와 삶의 질 간의 관련성 - 진주지역을 중심으로 - (The Relationship of Depression, Fatigue and Quality of Life in Middle-Aged Adults)

  • The aims of this study were to investigate the relationship of depression, fatigue and quality of life (QOL) in middle-aged adults in Jinju city. This survey was conducted from October to November, 2010 and 230 responses from the survey were used. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The average score of the participants' depression was $13.16{\pm}8.26$ out of 60. the average fatigue score was $21.46{\pm}4.79$ out of 44. The average QOL score was $85.90{\pm}9.49$ out of 130. Among general characteristic of the participants level of QOL was statistically significant for gender, educational level, exercise. There was a significantly corrleation among depression, fatigue and QOL. The results revealed that depression, educational level, exercise were the significant predictors to affect the QOL in middle-aged adults. Low level of depression, higher educational background, and active exercise were closely correlated with QOL. To improve QOL in middle-aged adulthoods for the community, the programs which include lowering depression, encouraging exercise should be designed.

회전근개봉합술 후 닫힌사슬운동 적용 시점에 따른 효과 비교 (Comparison of the Rehabilitation Program after Rotator Cuff Repair by Time Closed Chain Exercise)

  • PURPOSE: This study aimed to examine the pain, range of motion (ROM), upper extremity task performance, and functional levels of patients after rotator cuff repair according to the timing of a closed chain exercise thereby presenting basic data for an effective rehabilitation program. METHODS: The intervention was applied three times per week, one hour per day, for four weeks to 40 participants, 78 of whom had undergone rotator cuff repair. The participants were divided into four groups and assigned to usual general physical therapy and an open chain exercise. Group I consisted of the open chain exercise only. The closed chain exercise was applied to group II after the 4 times, group III after the 7 times, group IV after the 10 times. Measurement were used ROM, visual analogue scale (VAS), box and block test (BBT), and shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI). A one-way analysis of variance was conducted to test differences. RESULTS: There were significant differences in the internal/external rotation between group I and group II. The VAS significantly differed between group II and group I, group III, and group IV. The BBT results of group II and group I were significantly different compared to those of group IV. The SPADI significantly differed between group II and group I and between group II and group IV. CONCLUSION: The closed chain exercise was effective for patients following rotator cuff repair from the second week after active exercise was prescribed, verifying its applicability in rehabilitation programs.

수중운동 프로그램이 류마티스 관절염 환자의 사지 피부두겹 두께와 둘레에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Aquatic Exercise on Skinfold Thickness and Circumference of Upper and Lower Extremities in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis)

  • Many arthritis patients experience weakness of muscles in extremities mainly due to disuse atrophy and weight gain because of the limited activities and exercises. This study examines the effects of the 6-week aquatic-exercise program on the body fat and the muscle of the rheumatoid arthritis patients. Seventeen patients in the experimental group and 18 in the control group were assigned depending on their preference and physical condition. These patients had more than 3 points of pain out of 10, deformities in knee, wrist and ankle joints. The amount of aquatic exercise increases from 35 minutes in the first week to 60 minutes in the 6th week. In the resting period they discussed their own experiences about exercise, personal and family affairs, and performed some recreation programs in order to increase the self-efficacy and promote the relationship with other patients by the group activities. Skinfold thickness and circumferences of both extremities were measured before and after experiment to compare the difference. For testing the body fat Saham Model was used. Prior to the experiment two group's body weight, skinfold thickness and skin circumferences were not significantly different which indicates the homogeneity of two groups. Body weight and most parts of skinfold thickness of the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group after 6-week aquatic exercise program. Circumference was not significantly lower than the control after the program. These findings indicate the in-crease of muscle sizes and the reduction of the body fat. Therefore a more active application of aquatic exercise into a variety of clients is strongly suggested.

Variability in physical therapy protocols following total shoulder arthroplasty

  • Background: Physical therapy (PT) plays an important role in the recovery of function following anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty (aTSA). While several PT protocols have been published for these patients, there is no standardized protocol for aTSA rehabilitation. This lack of standardization may lead to confusion between patients and physicians, possibly resulting in suboptimal outcomes. This study examines how PT protocols provided by academic orthopedic surgery programs vary regarding therapeutic goals and activities following aTSA. Methods: PT protocols for aTSA available online from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accredited orthopedic surgery programs were included for review. Each protocol was analyzed to evaluate it for differences in recommendation of length of immobilization, range of motion (ROM) goals, start time for and progression of therapeutic exercises, and timing for return to functional activity. Results: Of 175 accredited programs, 25 (14.2%) had protocols publicly available, programs (92%) recommended sling immobilization outside of therapy for an average of 4.4±2.0 weeks. Most protocols gave recommendations on starting active forward flexion (24 protocols, range 1-7 weeks), external rotation (22 protocols, range 1-7 weeks), and internal rotation (18 protocols, range 4-7 weeks). Full passive ROM was recommended at 10.8±5.7 weeks, and active ROM was 13.3±3.9 weeks, on average. ROM goals were inconsistent among protocols, with significant variations in recommended ROM and resistance exercise start times. Only 13 protocols (52%) gave recommendations on resuming recreational activities (mean, 17.4±4.4 weeks). Conclusions: Publicly available PT protocols for aTSA rehabilitation are highly variable. 넙다리뒤근육에 대한 스트레칭이 근육의 뻣뻣함에 미치는 즉각적 효과 (Immediate Effects of Stretching on Hamstring Stiffness)

  • Purpose: Stretching exercises are commonly used in conjunction with sports and rehabilitation. Weassessed the immediate effects of stretching on passive stiffness of the hamstring muscles and knee range of motion (ROM) using three stretching techniques. Methods: A total of 45 participants were recruited. Isokinetic equipment was used to measure the passive stiffness of hamstring muscles and an inclinometer was used to measure active and passive ROM of the knee joint pre and post stretching. Stiffness was then calculated based on the incline of the torque-angle relationship. The test conditions for Group I were $3{\times}30$ seconds of static stretches using the hamstring muscle, Group II were $3{\times}30$ seconds of static stretches using the hamstring muscle with ankle dorsiflexion, and Group IIII had $3{\times}30$ seconds of active stretching. Results: Group II had significantly higher excursion of active ROM and Group IIIhad significantly higher excursion of passive muscle stiffness. All of the groups had significantly higher active and passive ROM and significantly lower muscle stiffness after stretching. The participants showed no change in hamstring muscle stiffness on the following day. Conclusion: Stretching has significant acute effects on ROM and muscle stiffness and canbe used in warm-up protocols for reducing muscle stiffness before a variety of exercise programs.

전라북도 일부 지역의 청소년 식습관, 신체활동, 비만도 (Eating Behavior, Physical Activities and Obesity degree of Adolescents in a region of Jeonbuk province)

  • Purpose: This study is to investigated the eating behavior, physical activities and obesity degree of the adolescents. Methods: The subjects of research were 1,092 third year students in middle school and high school randomly chosen of N city area and L gun area in Chonbuk province. The data was collected by an anonymous questionnaire. A survey tool developed in Ministry of Health and Welfare(2005) was used to investigate eating behavior, physical activities and obesity degree of subjects. The data was analyzed with the SPSSWIN 15.0 Programs. Results: 37.2% of adolescents only had positive eating behavior. 43.4% of adolescents did regular physical exercise, 10.8% did moderate physical exercise, and 43.3% did active physical exercise. 76.6% of adolescents did muscular strength exercise. So, the majority of adolescents were doing physical exercise. The percentage of adolescents who had normal weight range was 90.6%. The percentage of over weight range was 5.2%, which was higher than the percentage of under weight range, 4.2% Conclusion: This study is a descriptive research for investigating the eating bahavior, physical activities and obesity degree of adolescents. The results provided the baseline data for improving eating behavior, and improving physical activities and relieving obesity degree in adolescence. Therefore an effective national policy must study and develope a program to establish the positive eating behavior, and to promote the physical activities, and to prevent the adolescents' obesity.

지체장애인의 융합적 휠체어테니스 교실 참여가기본적 심리욕구, 운동정서 및 운동 몰입에 미치는 영향 (Wheelchair tennis has ever fusion of classroom participation of the physically disabled basic psychological needs and exercise emotional and exercise commitment)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 12주간 휠체어테니스 융합 교실에 참여하는 지체장애인의 기본적 심리욕구와 운동정서 및 운동 몰입에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 규명하는데 있다. 연구결과, 첫째, 기본적 심리욕구에서는 하위요인 중 자율성과 관계성에서 집단 간 차이가 나타났고 자율성, 유능성, 관계성의 측정시점에서도 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 운동 몰입에서는 대한 하위요인 중 인지몰입과 행위몰입의 측정시점에서 차이가 나타났으며, 두 가지 하위요인의 집단과 측정시점에서도 상호효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 운동정서에서는 대한 하위요인인 긍정정서와 부정정서에서 집단 간과 측정시점에서 차이가 나타났으며, 두 가지 하위요인의 집단과 측정시점에서도 상호효과가 나타났다. 후속연구에서는 장애인들의 주관적인 경험과 더불어 어려운 점을 이끌어내기 위한 질적 연구가 병행됨으로써 보다 적극적인 장애인들의 지속적인 참여를 유도할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 프로그램의 개발이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.

Relationship between Health Promotion Behavior and Marriage Value View

  • This study was cross sectional descriptive survey study to analysis the relationship between marriage value view and health promotion behavior among university students. Questionnaires from those who voluntary agreed to the study were collected online, and the collection period was from May 20, 2020 to June 10, 2020. Research tools for analyzing marriage value view was used by RR lee, and health promotion behavior research tools was developed by Walker., The data analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0 as frequency, Pearson correlation, t-test, and Multiple regression analysis. According to the analysis, women had high passive (p<0.05) and exclusive (p<0.01) marriage value view, while men had high active (p<0.01) and instrumental (p<0.05) marriage value view. According to the analysis, it turns out that people who value interpersonal relationships during health promotion have a positive effect on romantic (t=2.383, R2=.257, p=.019) and instrumental (t=2.201, R2=.120, p=.030) marriage value view. Hygiene has been appeared to affect Passive marriage value view (t=3.001, R2=.111, p=.003) and Exclusive marriage value view (t=3.765, R2=.122, p=.000). Nutrition has been appeared to affect conservative marriage value view (t=2.086, R2=.118, p=0.039). Exercise has been appeared to affect conservative marriage value view (t=2.456, R2=.118, p=0.015) and active marriage value view (t=2.261, R2=.168, p=0.025). Through this study, in order to increase for the desire of marriage, marriage values need to be organized differently between men and women in marriage value programs and it suggested that health promotion behavior be included in programs that enhance the value of marriage.

부산지역에 대학생들의 성별과 건강관심도에 따른 건강관리 및 식행동 비교 (A Comparison of Eating and General Health Practices to the Degree of Health Consciousness in Pusan College Students)

  • This study investigated college students' health status, health attitudes, and eating and general health practices. They then were compared to the students' degree of health consciousness. Four hundred college students in Pusan participated in this study, of which 203 were young men and 197 young women. While college students considered that they were generally healthy, there were a number of negative health factors, such as fatigue and stress, particularly amongst the young women. They were not particularly concerned about or active in taking care of their health. There were, for example, problems of smoking and drinking among the young men, and a lack of exercise among female students. Female had more eating problems than male frequency and consistency in the quantity of meals, overeating, and snacking. On the other hand, women seemed to show more possibilities for improving the food habits. Health status did not appear to co vary significantly with the degree of health con sciousness. However, the higher the level of health concern, the more interest in health information and weight gain anxiety students had, and the more active measures in health care they took. Students who had high or moderate concern for health practiced more desirable eating habit than students who lacked this concern. In conclusion, educational programs which can increase concern for health among college students should be prepared in order to maintain their bodily health now and in the future. If such programs were developed with gender differences in mind, making college students take a positive attitude towards health issues and management of their own health, it would be more effective.
