  • The design of ion channel targeted library is a valuable methodology that can aid in the selection and prioritization of potential ion channel-likeness for ion-channel-targeted bio-screening from large commercial available chemical pool. The differences of property profiling between the 93 ion-channel active compounds from MDDR and CMC database and the ACDSC compounds were classified by suitable descriptors calculated with preADME software. Through the PCA, clustering, and similarity analysis, the compounds capable of ion channel activity were defined in ACDSC compounds pool. The designed library showed a tendency to follow the property profile of ion-channel active compounds and can be implemented with great time and economical efficiencies of ligand-based drug design or virtual high throughput screening from an enormous small molecule space.

  • Tag collection is one of the major functions in RFID systems. In this paper, we propose a multichannel slotted-aloha anticollision protocol to mitigate the tag collision problem and improve tag collection performance in active RFID systems. In the proposed anticollision protocol, while an RFID reader transmits commands to multiple RFID tags via a common channel, it receives multiple tag responses over multiple channels simultaneously. We also implemented an active RFID system supporting the proposed anticollision protocol. In experiments with the implemented reader and 60 tags, the proposed dual-channel slotted-aloha anticollision protocol showed a large improvement in tag collection performance compared with the single-channel slotted-aloha anticollision protocol. With 60 tags, the average time spent on tag collection using the dual-channel anticollision protocol was 600.543 ms, which was 46.3% of the 1289.721 ms required using the single-channel anticollision protocol.

  • An adaptive IIR filter in ANC(Active Noise Control) systems is more effective than an adaptive FIR filter when acoustic feedback exists, in which cause an order of an adaptive FIR filter must be very large if some of poles of the ideal control filter are near the unit circle. But the IIR filters may have stability problems especially when the adaptive algorithm for adaptive filters is not yet converged. In this paper, a stabilized multi-channel recursive LMS (MCRLMS) algorithm for an adaptive multi-channel IIR filter is presented. RLMS algorithms usually diverge before the algorithm is not yet converged. So, in the beginning of the ANC system, the stability of the RLMS algorithms could be improved by pulling the poles of the IIR filter to the center of the unit circle, and returning the poles to their original positions after the filter converges. Computer simulations and experiments for dipole ducts using a TMS320C32 digital signal processor have performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, implementation of active noise barriers(ANB) to attenuate exterior noise which is propagated through open windows is presented. The leaky multiple channel LMS algorithms are used for adaptive filters tc improve the convergence property, and a new type of the active noise barrier is proposed. The attenuation effects of conventional active noise control(ANC) systems using leaky multiple channel LMS algorithms and the proposed system are compared by experiments using a TMS320C33 digital signal processor. Noise attenuation levels at the points of error microphones are similar for both systems, but average noise attenuation effects of the proposed system for an entire space of an experimental enclosure are much better than conventional ANC systems.

  • A fast correlative vector direction finding(CVDF) system using active dipole antenna array for mobile direction finding(DF) applications is presented. To develop the CVDF system, the main elements such as active dipole antenna, multi-channel direction finder, and search receiver are designed and analyzed. The active antenna is designed as composite structure to improve the filed strength sensitivity over the wide frequency range, and the multi-channel direction finder and search receiver are designed using DDS-based PLL with settling time of below 35 us to achieve short signal processing time. This system provides the capabilities of the high DF sensitivity over the wide frequency range and allows for high probability of intercept and accurate angle of arrival(AOA) estimation for agile signals. The design and performance analysis according to the external noise and modulation schemes of the CVDF system with five-element circular array are presented in detail.

  • In this study, the flow characteristics of a FPN (Fountain Pen Nano-Lithography) using active membrane pumping are investigated. The FPN has integrated chamber, micro channel, and high capacity reservoir for continuous ink feed. The most important aspect in this probe provided control of fluid injection using active membrane pumping in chamber. The flow rates in channel by capillary force are theoretically analyzed, including the control of the mass flow rates by the deflection of the membrane. The above results are compared with the numerical simulations that calculated by commercial code, FLUENT. The velocity of the fluid in micro channel shows linear behaviors. And the mass flows are proportional to the second order function of the pumping pressure that is imposed to the membrane.

  • Transparent semiconductor oxide thin films have been attracting considerable attention as potential channel layers in thin film transistors (TFTs) owing to their several advantageous electrical and optical characteristics such as high mobility, high stability, and transparency. TFTs with ZnO or similar metal oxide semiconductor thin films as the active layer have already been developed for use in active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED). Of late, there have been several reports on TFTs fabricated with InZnO, AlZnSnO, InGaZnO, or other metal oxide semiconductor thin films as the active channel layer. These newly developed TFTs were expected to have better electrical characteristics than ZnO TFTs. In fact, results of these investigations have shown that TFTs with the new multi-component material have excellent electrical properties. In this work, we present TFTs with inverted coplanar geometry and with a novel HfInZnO active layer co-sputtered at room temperature. These TFTs are meant for use in low voltage, battery-operated mobile and flexible devices. Overall, the TFTs showed good performance: the low sub-threshold swing was low and the $I_{on/off}$ ratio was high.

  • In active noise control filter, IIR filter structure which used for control filter assures the stability property. The stability characteristics of IIR filter structure is mainly determined by pole location of control filter within unit disc, so stable selection of the value of control filter coefficient is very important. In this paper, we proposed novel adaptive stabilized Filtered_U LMS algorithms with IIR filter structure which has better convergence speed and less computational burden than conventional FIR structures, for multi-channel active noise control with vehicle enclosure signal case. For better convergence speed in adaptive algorithms, fuzzy LMS algorithms where convergence coefficient computed by a fuzzy PI type controller was proposed.

  • This paper presents a design of 1-channel active dry electrode module for EEG from one's forehead. The IA(instrumentation amplifier) circuit inside the module is based on the configuration sown on the paper MettingVanRijn et al. We analyze the IA circuit to find out the related equation, and then compare its simulated characteristic with the result obtained from the real active dry electrode circuit. With the active dry electrode and the wet(Ag/AgCI) electrode connected to the separated analog processing module on one's forehead at the same time, their real time and FFT outputs of EEG are examined for comparison. The active dry electrode module has advantages over the wet electrode and its analog processing module: 1) The size of the analog processing circuit of the active dry electrode module is smaller than that of existing EEG analog processing module; 2) the total cost required to make the proposed analog processing circuit is much lower than that of the existing circuit, since the designed circuit needs smaller parts; 3) the electrical characteristic is comparable to the general EEG analog processing module even if the designed module has simpler circuit configuration.
