  • The piezocomposite transducer is widely used because it is highly efficient in transforming electric energy into mechanical energy, and its frequency range is broader than that of other types of ultrasound transducers. A general piezocomposite transducer is composed of an acoustic lens, impedance matching layers, piezoelectric materials, and backing layers. When an input voltage is applied to a piezoelectric material as an active material, it generates sound waves while vibrating. At that time, an impedance matching layer helps the sound waves to propagate forward while reducing the impedance mismatch that may occur at the interface between the active material and its front material. The impedance mismatch has a negative effect on the signal of an ultrasound transducer; thus, it is important to design a matching layer to overcome the issue. In this study, an optimized feature of a matching layer with gradient properties is studied. An objective function is defined to minimize both the average and the deviation of the reflection coefficients that are functions of the frequencies. As a result, an improvement in the signal characteristics with respect to the sensitivity and bandwidth is reported.

  • The space in today's digital era is developing in a new direction with the changing paradigm, which is different from that in the analog era. The space that appeals to the advanced technology mobilizes all the five senses of the space user with the technical elements of the more variable fields and aesthetic productions, and creates an interactive environment by motivating the user's active participation through the digital media. The environmental device called digital media connects the function pace with living performance. Unlike in the analog space, the different sides of the digital media space create a human consciousness that corresponds to the realistic ambience, further contributing to the lively condition. For the main production technique in the digital medias performance-active space, there are electronic image production, changeable production, impromptu-active production, light and sound production, and total artistic production that lead to the progressive interaction between man and space.

  • Adaptive feed forward control algorithms based largely upon LMS approach have developed in recent two decades, and they have been widely applied to practical sound and vibration control problems in the case of the reference signal is available. Feedforward control can be applied only when reference signals can be measured or regenerated, while feedback controllers are used to reduce; sound and vibration when reference signals are not available. In recent years, hybrid control schemes in which adaptive feed forward controllers are combined with feedback ones have been studied based on simulations and experiments. The results have shown that the hybrid control may have better control performances in convergence speed and steady state error than the single control schemes. Hybrid control has the advantages of improving stability and performance as well as the disturbance rejection property. However, little effort has been made to the analysis or interpretation of hybrid control systems. In this study, we discussed the feedback controller effects on the stability of feed forward control algorithm in the presence of uncertain error path and a simple example showed that a stable feedback controller could make the feedforward controller unstable. A design criterion of feedback controllers is proposed in order to guarantee the stability of feedforward algorithms in the presence of error paths with uncertainties.

  • The purpose of this present experiments was to simulate the Active noise control system using MATLAB Tool kit. The Least-Mean-Square algorithm is the most applicable one to optimize the ANC systems, even it has tight limitation. This paper shows the influence of choosing step size to the performance of the LMS adaptive filters. In addition to the simulation, this paper describes the method to design the filtered LMS algorithm to get the better performance in Active noise control. It contains the secondary-path modeling to realize the real Active noise control system in the requesting fields.

  • Due to rapid progress in the performance of high-end computers, numerical prediction of fluid flow and flow-induced sound is expected to become a vital tool for aero- and hydro- dynamic design of various flow-related products. This presentation focuses on the applications of large-scale numerical simulations to complex engineering problems with a particular emphasis placed on the low-speed flows. Flow field computations are based on a large eddy simulation that directly computes all active eddies in the flow and models only those eddies responsible for energy dissipations. The sound generated from low-speed turbulent flows are computed either by direct numerical simulation or by decoupled methods, according to whether or not the feedback effects of the generated sound onto the source flow field can be neglected. Several numerical examples are presented in order to elucidate the present status of such computational methods and discussion on the future prospects will also be given.

  • The efficiency of active sonar that is used underwater observation equipment is important for obtain the information of topography and trace for the objects. Sound wave transmitted from sonar are distorted by acoustic window which is to protect sonar. Making various sonar dome is impossible for experiment, because consumed unnecessary time and expense. So, the purpose of this study is to simulate and analyze the acoustic window propagated sound wave from sonar for designing model reduced insertion loss. Simulation is performed by transient analysis and fluid-structure interaction analysis. As a result, this study will give a opportunity for efficient design of sonar dome without high cost and time consumption.

  • Spatial control of sound is essential to deliver better sound to the listener's position in space. As it can be experienced in many listening environments. the quality of sound can not be manifested over every Position in a hall. This motivates us to control sound in a region we select. The primary focus of the developed method has to do with the brightness and contrast of acoustic image in space. In particular, the acoustic brightness control seeks a way to increase loudness of sound over a chosen area, and the contrast control aims to enhance loudness difference between two neighboring regions. This enables us to make two different kinds of zone - the zone of quiet and the zone of loud sound - at the same time. The other perspective of this study is on the direction of sound. It is shown that we can control the direction of perceived sound source by focusing acoustic energy in wavenumber domain. To begin with, the proposed approaches are formulated for pure-tone case. Then the control methods are extended to a more general case, where the excitation signal has broadband spectrum. In order to control the broadband signal in time domain, an inverse filter design problem is defined and solved in frequency domain. Numerical and experimental results obtained in various conditions certainly validate that the acoustic brightness, acoustic contrast, direction of wave front can be manipulated for some finite region in space and time.

To reduce the noise and the vibration of the automobile, it is needed to consider the pulsation noise, air current noise, vibration of air pipe which generate the intake and exhaust noise of the automobile. Moreover, the discharge sounds, intake sound, radiation sound, transmitted sound are occurred. To reduce this influence, the variable valve is needed and to control these factors, path transformation muffler and active type muffler are needed. While engine efficiency could be reduced with this transformationand resistance by the pressure, thermal property. • Active noise control uses the intentional superposition of acoustic waves to create a destructive interference pattern such that a reduction of the unwanted sound occurs. In active noise control system the choice of a control structure and design of the controller are the main issues of concern. In real acoustic fields there are a vast number of noise sources with time-varying nature and the characteristics of transducers and the geometric set-up of control system are subject to change. Accordingly the control system should be designed to adapt such circumstances so that required level of performance is maintained. In this paper, the adaptive control algorithm for self-tuning adaptive controller is presented for the application in active noise control system. Self-tuning is a direct integration of identification and controller design algorithm in such a manner that the two processes proceed sequentially. The least mean square algorithm was used for the identification schemes and adaptive weighted minimum variance control algorithm was applied for self-tuning controller. Computer simulation results for self-tuning feedback controller are presented. And simulation results was shown to be useful for the situation in which the periodic noise sources act on the acoustic field.
