  • This paper proposes a transformer design of a direct cell-to-cell active cell balancing circuit with a multi-winding transformer for battery management system (BMS) applications. The coupling coefficient of the multi-winding transformer and the output capacitance of MOSFETs significantly affect the balancing current transfer efficiency of the cell balancing operation. During the operation, the multi-winding transformer stores the energy charged in a specific source cell and subsequently transfers this energy to the target cell. However, the leakage inductance of the multi-winding transformer and the output capacitance of the MOSFET induce an abnormal energy transfer to the non-target cells, thereby degrading the transfer efficiency of the balancing current in each cell balancing operation. The impacts of the balancing current transfer efficiency deterioration are analyzed and a transformer design methodology that considers the coupling coefficient is proposed to enhance the transfer efficiency of the balancing current. The efficiency improvements resulting from the selection of an appropriate coupling coefficient are verified by conducting a simulation and experiment with a 1 W prototype cell balancing circuit.

  • Considering the rapid process of media's breakthrough and diverse patterns of consumptions's analysis, a uniform analysis might be much rooms to be desired for interpretation of new phenomena. In special, the products happening intensive sails on around an anniversary or fresh food have the restricted marketing hours. Moreover, traditional association rule discovery algorithms might not be appropriate for analysis of sales pattern given in a specific time because existing approaches require iterative scan operation to find association rule in large scale transaction databases. in this paper, we propose an incremental candidate set management model based on twin-hashing technique to find association rule in special sales pattern using database trigger and stored procedure. We also prove performance of the proposed model through implementation and experiment.

  • In this study, we analyzed the next generation ITS (C-ITS) technology trends, focusing on the national and international C-ITS projects. Based on the promotion practices of developed countries, we pointed out the lack of linkages with the existing ITS infrastructure. As a way to overcome this problem, we proposed the three-direction to enable the existing ITS infrastructure corresponding to the C-ITS. First one is developing a technique to improve the performance of the existing ITS infrastructure and automate the performance management (Performance-enhanced ITS). Second, developing active sensors or fusion sensor which along with V2X communication technology implement of an active safety driving support system (Safety-enhanced ITS). Third, we need to develop a technology that generate the new advanced traffic data by integrating the collected data from existing ITS infrastructure and nomadic device (Cloud-ITS). By improving the function of the existing ITS infrastructure for adaptation to the new V2X communication environment, we enhanced the efficiency of maintenance performance and would maximize the benefit of the introduction of C-ITS.

  • From the perspective of corporate governance, we examine the acquirers' performance of mergers and acquisitions. The empirical results of our study show that outside active shareholders, such as block shareholders or institutional shareholders, affect acquirers' performance in M&A's : the ownership of outside active shareholders is positively correlated with the performance of acquirers. However, the ownership of insiders, such as that of encumbent manners or major shareholders, does not have any significant effect on the performance of M&A's. We also found that the ownership of foreign investors increased its explanatory power after the financial crisis of Asia. Since the current literature concludes that the improvement of corporate governance would enhance the shareholders' wealth, the results of our study implies that outside active investors, rather than insiders, are playing an important role in the corporate governance.

  • Mobile IP has been designed only to maintain communications as they move from place to place, so it doesn't guarantee Quality of Service (QoS). QoS in mobile IP is important to provide multimedia and real-time applications services in mobile environment, and it is closely related to handoff delay. Therefore, handoff delay problem is actively studied to guarantee QoS as a main issue in mobile IP research area. In this paper, we suggest SNMP Information-based routing that adds keyword management method to Information-based routing in active network in order to resolve such a problem, and then suggest QoS controlled handoff based on SNMP Information-based routing. After modeling of suggested method and existing handoff method, simulations are carried out with NS -2 for performance evaluation. The results of simulations show the some improvement on handoff delay, and therefore on QoS improvement.

  • Background: Latissimus dorsi (LD) tendon transfer is used as a treatment option for massive irreparable posterosuperior rotator cuff tears, and recently, an arthroscopic-assisted technique was introduced. This study was undertaken to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of arthroscopic-assisted LD tendon transfer for the management of irreparable rotator cuff tears in active middle-aged patients. Methods: The records of five patients (two males) with irreparable tears involving the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons managed by arthroscopic-assisted LD tendon transfer were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scale, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon's (ASES) scores, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) scale, and ranges of motion. Postoperative integrities of transferred tendon were evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging in 4 patients and by ultrasound in one. Results: Mean patient age was 55 years (range, 48-61 years), and mean follow-up period was 20 months (range, 12.0-27.2 months). Mean VAS score significantly improved from $6.6{\pm}2.6$ preoperatively to $1.8{\pm}2.5$ postoperatively (p=0.009), mean ASES score increased from $67.6{\pm}9.2$ to $84.6{\pm}15.1$, and mean UCLA score from $18.0{\pm}1.4$ to $28.8{\pm}8.5$ (all p<0.001). Postoperative imaging of the transferred LD tendon showed intact repair in 4 patients. The remaining patient experienced LD transfer rupture and a poor outcome. Conclusions: Arthroscopic-assisted LD tendon transfer improved shoulder pain and function in patients with massive, irreparable rotator cuff tears, and may be an option for this condition, especially in physically active patients.

  • Background: Scapular winging is a rare disorder that is commonly caused by nerve damage of the dorsal scapular nerve, spinal accessory nerve, or the long thoracic nerve. This affects the scapulohumeral rhythm which may cause abnormal kinetic motion of the shoulder. The purpose of this case report is to describe a self-exercise oriented management incorporating shoulder strengthening to reduce symptoms in a shoulder pain patient with winging scapular. Methods: A 45 year old male patient complained of pain in his both shoulders without any trauma. Shoulders were treated with steroid injections for supraspinatus tendonitis, but although pain improved to some extent, pain and disability continued for 3 months. Both shoulders had pain, decreased active range of motions, muscles weakness, and scapular winging. The patient underwent 9 interventional sessions over 3 months and was managed mainly by self-exercise. The intervention method involved push up plus, sling, muscle strengthening, and stabilization exercises. Loads were increased as symptoms improved. Results: Clinical outcomes were measured at every session. Pain in both shoulders reduced to 0 on a numerical pain rate scale by the 4th session, and the active range of motion was fully recovered. During the 9th session, the strength of the serratus anterior had improved from grade P to G on the right side and grade G to N grade on the left. Conclusion: In this case study, the self-exercise program was effective in reducing pain, increasing active range of motion, and improving muscle strength in subjects with scapular winging.

  • This study was to investigate differences in peer attachment, emotion regulation style and depression perceived by adolescents according to age and gender of adolescents. Also, aim that identifies variables which have influences on adolescents' depression. The subjects were 2279 middle and high school students(male 1150, female 1129) who live in Seoul and Kyonggi. All respondents answered by self-report questionnaire. The scales of emotion regulation style consist of three parts: support-seeking, avoidance/distraction, and active problem-solving. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA, t-tset and stepwise multiple regression. The major findings were as follows. First, older male and female adolescents perceived less peer attachment than younger adolescents. Specially female adolescents showed more differences between older adolescents and younger adolescents. Second, male adolescents showed more avoidance/distraction style and active problem-solving style but less support-seeking style than female adolescents. Third, older adolescents perceived more depression than younger adolescents. Fourth, peer attachment, age, avoidance/distraction style, active problem-solving style, support-seeking style and gender had a significant effect on adolescents' depression. In other words, adolescents who had more avoidance/distraction style and support-seeking style, who had less peer attachment and active problem-solving style, who had more avoidance/distraction style and support-seeking style, who had less peer attachment and active problem-solving style, who was older adolescents than younger adolescents, and who was female adolescents than male adolescents perceived more depression. The study results suggest that the degree of peer attachment was the most powerful predictor of adolescents' depression.
