The increased level of glucose, ketone bodies, non-esterified fatty acids and lactate in blood, decrease of glycogen content, phosphofructokinase activities and glucokinase activity and the increased level of glucose-6-phosphatase activity in the liver of streptozotocin injected rats were significantly moderated by ginseng saponin administration. It is not likely, however, that the hypoglycomic action of ginseng saponin might be due to their direct action on enzyme activities, since the saponin effect of servers enzymes in vitro was not enough to explain such an appreciable hypoglycemic activity of the saponin in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats, for which much work have to be done.

In order to solve problems of global warming, many policies and measures has been implemented in various countries. In January 2005, the European Union Emission Trading Scheme officially started. In order to take it into action, the EU ETS stated that all members must submit the national allocation plan including the national's total allowances, allowances for installations, reserve for new entrants, etc. In the process of this decision-making, it was also stated that problems related with early action should be solved by each member state at its option. This paper is a study on necessity of compensation for early action and its limitation of its practices. With a comparative study on dealing with early action in the key nations including Germany, the Netherlands and United Kingdom, we can get insights and strategies for effective processes of dealing with early action and the direction for harmonizing data collection and allocation rules.

Action Learning is a teaching-learning method to solve a problem through which members in a team discuss the problem and a facilitator supports the members in the team. The Action Learning makes learners develop human-relationship skills, which are connected to the value of social capital in the modern society. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between action learning and social capital with 17 participants who joined in a nuclear education course opened in the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. The result showed that the action learning positively influenced the social capital among members in the team. Consequently, it is easily recognized that action learning is one of positive teaching-learning methods to achieve educational purposes of a organization and should be more developed in the future.

In an arcade game, the users can easily predict the monster's action because most of the game monster's action patterns are acted only in the predefined patterns, This paper attempts how to increase the player's satisfaction while making the unpredictable action patterns easily, This research defines and realizes the monster's action patterns through the FSM algorithm. In addition, this paper added the predictable factors of monsters in an action patterns of a game monster to optimize the game, On analyzing the result of game play, the game monster's action was evenly used in the whole playing map and the game monster showed that it operated without the recursion of certain action properly.

ISO(Independent System Operator) or TSO(Transmission System Operator) use power system analysis program to simulate contingency analysis and remedial actions to operate power system stably. Generally, power system analysis program provides automated analysis functions(or modules) to deal with wide area power system. However, because of missed contingency cases, automated contingency analysis has no practical use or has limitation. And in case of remedial action, it doesn't support automated function or takes a lot of times to study, because of simulation in manual for each cases. This paper suggests that new relation with buses and transmission line properties of power system DB used for power system analysis program to simulate automated contingency including all contingency cases needed in the field without missed cases. And it proposes automated remedial action scheme based on practical approach analysis to alleviate overloading or voltage problems. Finally it deals with automated contingency/remedial action analysis(automated scheduled outage) program which is developed by KEPCO and its performance and proposed schemes are proven by case study for real Korean power system data.

Systematic pharmacological studies on powdered whole part of unossified antler obtained from Cervus nippon Temminck var. mantchuricus have been carried out in mice and rats. Powdered antler, with a single oral administration, showed a very weak acute and subacute toxicity; its MLD being >5g/kg orally in mice. On daily oral treatments of the antler for 14 days, it did not cause any significant differences in body weight gain, various organ weights and serum transaminase activities compared to those of the control rats. Powdered antler, with a single oral administration, showed a remarkable analgesic activity as evaluated by writhing syndrome and tail-pressure test, a weak CNS depressant activity as well as a weak immunopotentiating action as evaluated by carbon clearance test in mice. Powdered antler, with repeated treatments, showed a moderate antifatigue effect against immobilized stress and showed significant increases in both adrenal weight and its ascorbic acid content in rats, suggesting that the mode of antifatigue effect of antler is related to adrenal and its components.

Systems Engineering is the process that controls the technical system development effort with the goal of achieving an optimum balance of all system elements. FRACAS(Failure Reporting an d Corrective Action System) is one of RAMS(Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) tasks which is conducted from a manufacturing phase. FRACAS is to determine the basic cause of failure resulting from design or manufacture, and to provide a closed-loop method of implementing corrective action. This paper presents the FRACAS established for assessment of the reliability, the analysis and management of the failure data for Korean High Speed Train and application cases.

Operator's action time is evaluated from MAAP4 analysis used in conventional probabilistic safety assessment(PSA) of a nuclear power plant. MAAP4 code which was developed for severe accident analysis is too conservative to perform a realistic PSA. A best-estimate code such as RELAP5/MOD3, MARS has been used to reduce the conservatism of thermal hydraulic analysis. In this study, operator's action time of core cooling recovery operation is evaluated by using the MARS code, which its Fussell-Vessely(F-V) value was evaluated as highly important in a small break loss of coolant(SBLOCA) event and loss of component cooling water(LOCCW) event in previous PSA. The main conclusions were elicited : (1) MARS analysis provides larger time window for operator's action time than MAAP4 analysis and gives the more realistic time window in PSA (2) Sufficient operator's action time can reduce human error probability and core damage frequency in PSA.

In the finite element analysis of reinforced concrete structures, discrete representation of the steel reinforcing bars is considered advantageous over smeared representation because of the more realistic modelling of their bond-slip behaviour. However, there is up to now limited research on how to simulate the dowel action of discrete reinforcing bars, which is an important component of shear transfer in cracked concrete structures. Herein, a numerical model for the dowel action of discrete reinforcing bars is developed. It features derivation of the dowel stiffness based on the beam-on-elastic-foundation theory and direct assemblage of the dowel stiffness matrix into the stiffness matrices of adjoining concrete elements. The dowel action model is incorporated in a nonlinear finite element program based on secant stiffness formulation and application to deep beams tested by others demonstrates that the incorporation of dowel action can improve the accuracy of the finite element analysis.

Experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of Sopoongyangjetang on the Anti-allergic effect, Analgesic action and Anti-inflammatory action. The results obtained as follows ; 1. In effect of Sopoongyangjetang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal serotonin, it had tendency to decrease, but was none significant effect. 2. In effect of Sopoongyangjetang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal histamine, it revealed significant effect. 3. In the homologous PCA provoked by the IgE-like antibody against white egg albumin, Sopoonyangjetang showed significant effect. 4. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to picryl chloride, Sopoongyangjetang was proved significant effect. 5. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to SRBC, Sopoongyangjetang revealed significant effect. 6. In analgesic action by acetic acid method, Sopoongyangjetang was recognized significantly. 7. In Anti-inflammatory action by carrageenine method, Sopoongyangjetang showed significant effect.
