The Usage of Animation and Social value.Clothing behavior of Adolescents (청소년들의 애니메이션 이용현황과 사회적 가치관.의복행동에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the usage of animation and its relation to the social values and clothing behaviour of adolescents. A survey was conducted in four different high schools in the metropolitan area (Seoul) and 187copies were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 package. The results were as follows; First, According to Usage survey, a number of adolescents watched animations mainly through the internet and 39% of them used the internet $2{\sim}3$ times a week. The most watched genre of animation was action/science-fiction but some differences were observed between male students and female students. Male students enjoyed action/science-fiction, comedy and drama/romance, whereas female students enjoyed drama/romance, action/science-fiction and comedy in the decreasing order. Second, It was found that the favorite genre of animation by adolescents had influence on their community mind and materialism. The most significant genre affectingcommunity life was drama/romance and the one affecting materialism of adolescents was action/science-fiction. Third, Materialism had a significant influence on clothing conformity and the next was community mind. Only materialism proved to be a significant variable affecting fashion followers. In conclusion, the results of this study showed that the adolescents' community life and materialism were significantly influenced by their favorite genre of the animation, and their social values were related to their clothing behaviors.

Screen Performance of the Korean Actress Kim Hye-Soo (영화배우 김혜수의 스크린 퍼포먼스)

  • This article explores Kim Hye-soo's film acting from the perspective of performance, which means a socio-cultural action planned and intended for a certain purpose. Through the aspect of screen performance which the identity of the era that the performance study aims for is expressed through acting and reappeared in a system of verbal and non-verbal symbols, it was intended to enhance the academic value of Korean film acting. First, Kim Hye-soo's acting performance transforms by repeating genre acting. The sensuality and sexual attractiveness that evaluates Kim Hye-soo are repeated by the typical vision required by genre films, but the acting performance is not consumed or subordinated as a tool for visual pleasure. Second, Kim Hye-soo's body, face, emotion and audio are engraved with memories of the times, and the sociocultural identity of the performance is expressed through dynamic interaction between actions and reactions. Third, Kim Hye-soo's restored and recreated performance is sensitive to the changes of the times and is still in the process.

Materiality for Producing the Title Sequence of Film (영화 타이틀시퀀스 제작을 위한 물질성)

  • The materials used in the title sequence connotes a style & a content of film comprehensively. Therefore, the effect of emotional expression can be changed according to what materials are selected. Thus, the materials of which 42 title sequences are collected for the last 10 years are classified, and the category of materiality & material degree are defined with the semiotic rectangle. To investigate intensity of the material degree, the survey was done. As a result of the survey, the intensity was classified into 3 levels of material degree. The category of materiality used according to the genre of film was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the materiality was selected according to the content regardless of genre, but there's any difference in the material degree. The intense material degree was used in a thriller and an SF mystery genre, and the medium one was used in the general genre, but, above all, drama and action genre. The weak one was used in a variety of genre, but specifically horror, SF mystery genre. It is significant that this study suggested the expression method in accordance with selection of materials in producing a title sequence to visualize film symbolically.

Complicative Mystery Structure Shown in the TV Drama Misty : Focusing on Delaying Strategy and Genre Hybrid (TV 드라마 <미스티(Misty)>에 나타난 미스터리 구조의 중층성 : 지연 전략과 장르 혼성을 중심으로)

  • TV drama , aired on JTBC in 2018, used several fictional and linguistic clues on the murder case. It effectively delayed the process of inferring the perpetrator by utilizing 'ambiguity' and 'trap', which enabled the double interpretation of the the main character's diaglogue and action. This delay could be made by employment of genre hybrid, cognitive process and knowledge of viewers about typical romance plot and mystery plot in TV drama. In other words, could be evaluated as a special genre hybrid case that disturbs viewers' perception of genre in that the correct reasoning process began from the point that overturned the viewer's expectation about typical romance genre dramas in which male main characters mostly devoted to love. The complicating mystery structure shown in is against the opinion that the traditional mystery structure is difficult to succeed in TV dramas. Also, from the perspective of hybrid genre, it is different from the usual mechanical combination of two different plots. These characteristics in are worth to highly evaluated.

Correlation between Stories and Emotional Responses for American Movies (영화 스토리와 관객 감성반응과의 상관성에 대한 연구)

  • While watching the movie, the audience shows various emotional reactions. Emotional reactions such as sadness and anger, joy and anger appear depending on the storyline of the film. This aspect can be seen through the audience's brain wave response. This study is to examine the relationship between the movie story development and the movie story development through brain wave measurement of the emotional reaction of the audience in situations and events occurring in the movie development. Four American films, which represent each genre and are well known to many people, were selected for the study. These are of the adventure genre, of the animation genre, of the action genre, and of the drama genre. In order to measure the emotional response of these movies, four cases were set centered on the PPG of EEG and analyzed as a time series graph pattern. It can be seen that the emotional response on the graph has a certain relationship with the story development. It is expected that this study will help in selecting a genre when making a movie in the future, especially when deciding how to compose and develop a story, and it will help to induce the emotions of the audience.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of American film (genre drama) through the analysis of , which merits our attention because the proportion of domestic gross earnings to foreign gross earnings is four to one. It means that the cultural discount rate of this film is relatively higher than the films which belong to the other genres, for example adventure, action, fantasy, SF etc. And it would be correct to say that this film is typically american. What is the reason of this difference of cultural discount rate? And what allows this film to be defined as a typical American film. The analysis of shows that the difference doesn't result from the actant structure. In fact the narrative structure of this film is similar to the other films of drama genre like or : the common structure of drama genre is characterized by an encounter of sujet and adjuvant and the progress of their relationship. But the drama is a genre in which the reflection of the actualities is important as compared with other genres. In that sense the story of is based upon the American cultural characteristics. Because the process that realize the progress of relationship between two protagonists is typically American such as race problem, adoption system, concept of family, system of education and going to college etc. As a result it is possible that move less the worldwide spectators than the American spectators.

  • is a service providing story synopses that match user's query. This paper presents a classification of character types by clustering of character tendencies found in the user log of . We also present a visualization method of showing genre-action relationships to each character type, and investigate the genre-action relationships of the major character types. We found that a small number of character types can represent more than half of the character tendencies and the character types tend to have a relationship to particular genres and actions. According to this properties, it would be desirable to provide supports for creative writing classified by character types.

  • Presence of music in the modern game is getting bigger and bigger, and storytelling in the area of game play a leading role in many cases. Platform game is one type of action game genre. In its nature, the character and the object in a game are closely coupled, thus they have intermate relation with reactive sound system. In this study, we tried to build a effective and reactive sound system which is suitable for the storytelling of platform game. In addition, we speculated various aspects of game including psychological, musical and social aspects, finally investigating the future aspects of the game music.

A Study on the Priority of Game Design Components by Genres (장르별 게임 디자인 구성요소의 우선순위에 대한 연구)

  • The format of game play varies depending on the priority of game design components by genre. In this study, in order to quantitatively derive the priority of game design components by genre, 6 game design components and 6 genres were extracted through prior research on game design components and genres, and then the research model was designed, and priorities were derived through AHP. Feedback system in action games, story in adventure games, mechanics in role-playing games, mechanics in simulation games, feedback system in table games, and mechanics in puzzle games were highly prioritized.
