The effect of esterified starch as surface sizing agent for inkjet printing paper has been evaluated and compared with oxidized starch. Also the influence of various additives including cationic poly-DADMAC, stearic acrylic copolymer, calcium chloride, and GCC was examined. Results showed that starch ester gave higher ink density than oxidized starch. Addition of poly-DADMAC improved water fastness. In general, low molecular weight poly-DADMAC performed better than high molecular weight one, and it was attributed to the fact that it gave more uniform film forming characteristics in surface sizing. Use of styrene acrylic acid copolymer increased hydrophobicity of the paper surface, but it did not increase the ink density. Use of GCC and calcium chloride had only marginal effect on printing quality.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength between composite resin and glass ionomer cement according to surface treatment methods of glass ionomer cement. Sixty round acrylic cylinders were fabricated. And then, a round undercut cavity(8 mm diameter, 2.5mm depth) was prepared in the center of the every acrylic cylinder. After all cavities were restored by using light-cured glass ionomer cement. A total of sixty acrylic cylinders restored with glass ionomer cement were divided into 4 groups according to surface treatment methods of glass ionomer cement. The surface treatment of each group were as follows : control group : no treatment Group 1 : acid etching Group 2 : sandblasting Group 3 : air-podwer abrasive polishing The composite resin was bonded to glass ionomer cement of each specimens. And the shear bond strength was tested with a universal testing machine at a cross-head speed of 1mm/min and 500kg in full scale. The results were as follows : 1. The sandblasting group(group 2) had the highest shear bond strength with $272.50{\pm}24.96\;kg/cm_2$ and the acid etching group(group 1) had the lowest shear bond strength with $192.89{\pm}29.32kg/cm_2$. 2. The no treated group(control group) had higher shear bond strength than acid etching group(group 1) (p<0.05). 3. The sandblasting group(group 2), air-powder abrasive polishing group(group 3) and no treated group(control group) had higher shear bond strength than the acid etching group(group 1) (p<0.05). 4. The sandblasting group(group 2) and air-powder abrasive polishing group(group 3) had higher shear bond strength than the no treatment group(control group), but there was not significant(p>0.05).
This study aims to developing a method for estimating pharmaceutical compounds within a monolith column using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The monolithic column was prepared using copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate, co-ethylene dimethacrylate, and co-acrylic acid inside a borosilicate tube of specific dimensions a 60 mm borosilicate tube length with 1.5 mm and 3.5 mm inner and outer diameters, respectively. A UV Ultra violet source with a wavelength of 365 nm was used, and the polymerization process involved mixing glycidyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, ethylene dimethacrylate as a binder, and 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl acetate phenone as an initiator in suitable solvents consisting of ethanol and 1-hexanol. The polymerization process formed the monolith column after 4 minutes, and subsequently, the epoxy groups were altered to diol groups using 0.2 M hydrochloric acid HCl, which were pumped through the column for 3 hours at a flow rate of 10 µL·min-1. Various techniques, such as Scanning Electron Microscope SEM, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller BET, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy FT-IR and HNMR, were utilized to characterize and confirm the structure of the monolith. The prepared monolith was employed to estimate and identify the pharmaceutical compound of warfarin using high-performance liquid chromatography HPLC. The analytical curve of warfarin was linear in the range of 3 to 100 ㎍·mL-1 with an r2 value of 0.999. The detection and quantification limits were 0.932 and 2.788 ㎍·mL-1, respectively. The molar absorptivity and Sandells sensitivity were 2.99138 × 106 L·mol-1·cm-1 and 103.1 × 10-3 ㎍·cm-2, respectively.
Carboxylic acid group gradient surface where the density of carboxylic acid groups changes gradually along the sample length was prepared. Carboxylic acid group gradient surface was produced by the treatment of low density polyethylene sheet using a corona with gradually increasing power, followed by the grad polymerization of acrylic acid. The prepared gradient surface was characterized by the measurement of water contact angle, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy in the attenuated total reflectance mode, and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis.
