In this study, the influence of chemical admixture on early strength development of concrete is discussed. According to the results, fluidity with variation of kinds of chemical admixture is lower in the case of acceleration type than in the case of normal type. Setting time of naphthalene acceleration type is shortened by I hour, and that of melamine is nearly same, but that of polycarbonic acid is somewhat retarded in comparison with that of naphthalene normal type. Early compressive strength gains 5MPa in about 18hours regardless of the kinds of chemical admixture. But as time elapses, compressive strength is higher in order of polycarbonic acid, naphthalene and melamine type. The relativity between compressive strength and the rebound value of P-type schmidt hammer is also favorable at early age, and compressive strength of 5MPa is estimated at the rebound value of 22.
Bonding orthodontic adhesive resins to glazed porcelain surface is not attainable. The aim of this investigation was to examine, in vitro, the effect of three methods of porcelain surface pretreatment on the shear bond strength of orthodontic adhesives, and to compare the shear strength of orthodontic bracket bonding to porcelain surface by the best results that to human enamel. Porcelain disks ($Ceramco^{(TM)}$ and $Vita^{(TM)}$) baked in the laboratory were roughened by sandpapers, #320, #600, #800, #1000 and #1200, and were pretreated with silane and dried at the various temperatures, room temperature, $50^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, and were etched by 3% hydrofluoric acid solution for 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 minutes, orthodontic adhesives (System $1+^{(TM)}$ and $Unite^{(TM)}$) were applied on them, and shear bond strengths were measured by Instron. The best results of pretreatment of each method were determined by the shear bond strengths. Again, porcelain disks were pretreated by the determined best results and human enamel were etched by 37% hydrofluoric acid solution, orthodontic brackets were bonded on them by the orthodontic adhesives, and the shear bond strengths were measured and compared between them. 1. Roughening porcelain surfaces with coarse sandpaper (#300) showed higher shear bond strength than that with finer sandpapers, but it $(22.44Kgf/cm^2)$ was distinguishably low compared to that from etched human enamel $(144.11Kgf/cm^2)$. 2. There were disparities in shear bond strengths upon the orthodontic resins, which was presumably related to the contents of fillers in orthodontic adhesive resins. Also there were disparities in shear bond strength upon the porcelains which had different composition. 3. Silane enhanced the shear bond strength of orthodontic resins to porcelain surfaces ($25.20Kgf/cm^2$ at $50^{\circ}C$), which was markedly low compared to that from etched human enamel. 4. Etched porcelain surface with 3% hydrofluoric acid solution for 1 to 9 minutes showed no difference in shear bonding strength of orthodontic adhesive resins. Shear bond strength from etched porcelain $(97.43-120.72Kgf/cm^2)$ were as high as clinically available, but low compared to that from etched human enamel. 5. Roughening with #300 sandpaper and etching by 3% hydrofluoric acid followed silane application on porcelain surface showed lower shear bond strength than etched human enamel, but were as high as clinically useful. 6. The results suggest that etching porcelain surface by 3% hydrofluoric acid solution might provide comparatively high shear bond strength as much as clinically favorable.
If the bond strength is sufficient to resist orthodontic force, orthodontic brackets can be bonded to restorations. Orthodontic brackets were bonded to composite resin and glass ionomer cement restorations with no-mix adhesive or glass ionomer cement. The shear bond strength of adhesives bonded to restorations was studied in vitro. Orthodontic brackets were bonded to 10 extracted natural teeth, 40 composite resin restorations and 40 glass ionomer restorations. The surfaces of composite resin restorations were roughened or applied with bonding agent (Scothbond) after surface roughening. The surfaces of glass ionomer cement restorations were conditioned with acid etching or applied with Scotchbond to etched surface. The adhesive was no-mix resin or glass ionomer cement. The shear bond strength was measured. The results were as follows: 1. Orthodontic brackets could be bonded to composite resin restorations effectively as they could be bonded to acid etched enamel with no-mix adhesive. The shear bond strength was sufficient to resist orthodontic force and was not affected by bonding agent greatly. 2. The shear bond strength of no-mix adhesive bonded to acid etched glass ionomer cement restorations was sufficient to resist orthodontic force. However. the fracture risk of glass ionomer cement restorations was increased during debonding. The bonding agent couldn't increase the shear bond strength greatly. 3. The shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement bonded to glass ionomer cement restorations was lower than that of no-mix adhesive. The shear bond strength was sufficient to resist orthodontic force and was greatly decreased by bonding agent. 4. The shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement bonded to composite resin restorations was too low to resist orthodontic force.
Chitosan is known to be an excellent biocompatible natural polymer. Recently, with a growing interest of health and environment, chitosan which is good in no harmful effect on human body and environment, has been watched as the finish treatment of hygiene and pleasantness. The purpose of this study is to develop multi functional fabrics by chitosan added on acrylic acid grafted cotton fabrics. Therefore physical properties such as moisture regain, air permeability, whiteness, static voltage and tensile strength of chitosan added on acrylic acid grafted cotton fabrics were investigated. The results are as follows ; According to increased chitosan's concentration, grafting yield was decreased. Therefore thickness of film by treated chitosan added on acrylic acid grafted cotton fabric became thin. FT R spectra of chitosan add on acrylic acid grafted cotton fabric clearly showed peaks of COOH and $NH_2$, Moisture regain, static voltage of chitosan add on acrylic acid grafted cotton fabrics were increased than control. Air permeability, whiteness and tensile strength were decreased than control.
The fatigue strength of SM55C has significantly decreased by 83% compared with atmosphere where distilled exists due to strong erosive action of acid fog. The reason is inferred in a way that strong acid erosive material such as acid fog act and give rise to multi-site crack on the surface. Several fatigue clacks occurred under the acid fog repeat the process of division and unification on the surface and form a long non-propagating crack throughout the circumference of experimented steel. However, in the depth, many parts do not show much trace of unification, and the depth is not as big as the one of normal crack shape. 10% of $CaCl_2$ causes strong erosive reaction to material. Then eventually make the life of fatigue shooter. On the other hand, 20% of $CaCl_2$ beings about oxidized material organic crack closing due to weak erosive reaction.

This study is aimed at comparing the effect of cement mortar made of sulfuric acid treated ISO standard sand with that of cement mortar made of normal ISO standard sand. In the water absorption test, water absorption of standard sand increases with the increase of immersion time in sulfuric acid solution. The results show that at the water cement ratio of 0.5, the longer the standard sand is immersed in sulfuric acid, the greater the compressive strength of the cement mortar sample.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate Emblica officinalis (Indian gooseberry or amla) as an acid etchant and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor, and to compare its effect on the microshear bond strength of composite resin with orthophosphoric acid (OPA) and 2% chlorhexidine (CHX) as an acid etchant and MMP inhibitor, respectively. Materials and Methods: The etching effect and MMP-inhibiting action of amla on dentin samples were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and gelatin zymography, respectively. Dentinal slabs (3 mm thick) from 80 extracted human molars were divided into 10 and 20 samples to form 2 control groups and 3 experimental groups. Groups 1, 2, and 4 were etched with OPA and groups 3 and 5 with amla juice. An MMP inhibitor was then applied: CHX for group 2 and amla extract for groups 4 and 5. Groups 1 and 3 received no MMP inhibitor. All specimens received a standardized bonding protocol and composite resin build-up, and were subjected to microshear bond strength testing. The force at which the fracture occurred was recorded and statistically analyzed. Results: Amla juice had a similar etching effect as a self-etch adhesive in SEM and 100% amla extract was found to inhibit MMP-9 by gelatin zymography. The microshear bond strength values of amla were lower than those obtained for OPA and CHX, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions: Amla has a promising role as an acid etchant and MMP inhibitor, but further studies are necessary to substantiate its efficacy.

In this study, the effects of cationic fatty acid bulky promotor on the properties of BCTMP (bleached chemithermomechnical pulp) handsheet including bulk and strength were elucidated. As results, it was observed that the bulk of BCTMP handsheet increased with the increases of the concentration of cationic fatty acid bulky agent, while mechanical properties such as tensile strength and burst strength decreased. The opacity of BCTMP handsheet also increased with the increases of the concentration of cationic fatty acid bulky agent, while brightness was almost not changed. The effectiveness of bulky agent with SwBCTMP (softwood) was higher than that with HwBCTMP (hardwood). Compared with previous research on the effect of bulky agent on BKP handsheet, the bulk increase of BCTMP handsheet was greater compared to that of BKP handsheet. However, the reduction of mechanical property in BCTMP handsheet was lower than that of BKP handsheet.
The purpose of this study was to increase uv-cut ability of cotton, ramie, and rayon fabrics dyed with safflower red colorants. For this purpose, samples treated with uv-cut agent and tannic acid were compared with the untreated samples after ultraviolet(uv)-light exposure in terms of K/S value, color changes(${\Delta}E$), SEM, and tensile strength retention. K/S value rapidly decreased with increasing exposure time, but K/S value of the samples treated with both uv-cut agent and tannic acid decreased less than that of untreated samples. As increasing exposure time, $L^*$ and $b^*$ increased, $a^*$ decreased, and so ${\Delta}E$ increased, indicating less red character and more yellow character in color. This leads to change hue, value and chroma value. But color change of samples treated with both uv-cut agent and tannic acid was less than that of untreated samples. SEM pictures showed a severe degradation by uv exposure in all samples. Tensile strength slowly decreased for 21 days. And after this point, the decreased proceeded more rapidly. Tensile strength retention of the samples treated with uv-cut agent and tannic acid was higher than that of untreated samples.
