This study was performed to improve many problems of leaching test of industrial waste sludge analysis. We analyze sludges by variation of leachant, pH and leaching time. The results were as follows: 1. As leaching at pH 5.8 by our leaching test without control of pH during leaching, the leaching rates were very low as below 1%. 2. As leaching at pH 5.8 continuously by hydrochloric acid every 2 hour, the leaching rates were higher than before 1. 3. As leaching at pH 5.0 continuously by acetic acid every 2 hour, the leaching rates were higher than 1, 2. 4. The variations of leaching rate by leaching time were smaller increase after 10 hours than before. 5. It will be recommendable that the pH of leachant maintain constantly during leaching as level of acid rain, and the acetic acid is more effective than hydrochloric acid as leachant.
The spent petroleum catalysts contain rare metals such as vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, and cobalt. Therefore, the leaching of these rare metals from spent petroleum catalysts by organic acid was investigated in the present study. The leaching efficiency of metals by organic acid was in the following order: oxalic acid > tartaric acid > citric acid > maleic acid > ascorbic acid. Among the organic acids employed in this work, oxalic acid can be considered to be superior to the other acids in terms of metals leaching efficiency. The effect of several leaching conditions such as temperature, acid concentration, pulp density, stirring speed, and reaction time on the leaching of metals was investigated. Vanadium and molybdenum were selectively dissolved by oxalic acid from the spent catalysts. The leaching kinetics of vanadium by oxalic acid was also investigated. An activation energy of 8.76 kJ/mol indicated that the leaching kinetics of vanadium by oxalic acid solution was controlled by mass transfer.

To better understand the permeability of uranium sandstone, improve the leaching rate of uranium, and explore the change law of pore structure characteristics and blocking mechanism during leaching, we systematically analyzed the microstructure of acid-leaching uranium sandstone. We investigated the variable rules of pore structure characteristics based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The results showed the following: (1) The uranium concentration change followed the exponential law during uranium deposits acid leaching. After 24 h, the uranium leaching rate reached 50%. The uranium leaching slowed gradually over the next 4 days. (2) Combined with the regularity of porosity variation, Stages I and II included chemical plugging controlled by surface reaction. Stage I was the major completion phase of uranium displacement with saturation precipitation of calcium sulfate. Stage II mainly precipitated iron (III) oxide-hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. Stage III involved physical clogging controlled by diffusion. (3) In the three stages of leaching, the permeability of the leaching solution changed with the pore structure, which first decreased, then increased, and then decreased.
Environmental friendly leaching process for the recovery of cobalt and lithium from the $LiCoO_2$ was investigated by organic acids as a leaching reagent. The experimental parameters, such as organic acid type, concentrations of leachant and hydrogen peroxide, reaction time and temperature as well as the pulp density were tested to obtain the most effective conditions for the leaching of cobalt and lithium. The results showed that the latic acid was the most effective leaching reagent for cobalt and lithium among the organic acids and was reached about 99.9% of leaching percentage respectively. With the increase of the concentration of citric acid, hydrogen peroxide and temperature, the leaching rate of cobalt and lithium increased. But the increase of pulp density decreased the leaching rate of cobalt and lithium.
The pneumatic classification and acidic leaching behaviors of phosphor sludge have been examined to establish the recycling system of rare earth components contained in waste fluorescent lamp. At first, separation characteristic of rare earth components and calcium phosphate in phosphor sludge was investigated by pneumatic classification. After pneumatic classification of phosphor sludge, rare earth components were leached in various acidic solutions and sodium hydroxide solution. For recovery of soluble component in leaching solution, rare earth components were separated as hydroxide and oxalate precipitations. The experimental results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) In classification process, rare earth components in phosphor sludge were concentrated to 29.3% from 13.3%, and its yield was 32.9%. (2) In leaching process, sulfuric acid solution was more effective one as a leaching solvent of rare earth component than other solutions. Y and Eu components in phosphor sludge were dissolved in sulfuric acid solution of 1.5 k㏖/㎥, and other rare earth components were rarely dissolved in leaching solution. Leaching degrees of Y and Eu were respectively 92% and 98% in the following optimum leaching conditions; sulfuric acid concentration is 1.5 k㏖/㎥ , leaching temperature 343 K, leaching time 3.6 ks and pulp concentration 30 kg/㎥. (3) Y and Eu components of phosphor sludge contained in waste fluorescent lamp were, effectively recovered by three processes of pneumatic classification, sulfuric acid leaching and oxalate precipitation methods. Their recovery was finally about 65 %, and its purity was 98.2%.
The objective of this study was to investigate the application of sulfate solvents for the economic and eco-friendly leaching of valuable metals from Au concentrate using an acid bake-water leaching system (AWS). AWS experiments were performed using an electric furnace with various baking temperatures ($100-500^{\circ}C$) and sulfate solvents ($H_2SO_4$, $K_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, $MgSO_4$, and $CaSO_4$). The efficiency of the valuable metal leaching increased as the baking temperature was increased to $400^{\circ}C$. Based on the AWS leaching time experiments, the maximum leaching rate occurred with the aqueous $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ solvent. This study demonstrates that aqueous $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ could be used as an effective solvent for valuable metal leaching using an AWS.
The removal of minor elements such as Na, Ca and Fe has been performed from domestic aluminum hydroxide of 99.7% purity with organic acids. Oxalic and citric acid were used as the leaching agent, respectively and aluminum hydroxides of different particle size were also employed for the purification with organic acid leaching. Fine grinding of aluminum hydroxide has been tested using ball mills and leaching characteristics of each element have also been examined in terms of leaching parameters such as temperature, acid concentration, and solid density. As a result, it was found that oxalic acid showed higher leaching efficiency than citric acid in the concentration range of 0.1 to 1.0 mole/l and leaching amount of each element was also increased with the acid concentration and reaction temperature. It was observed that about 45% of Na was leached out during ball milling process which implied that the majority of Na contained in aluminum hydroxide was water soluble compound.

This study presents the leaching characterization of heavy metals according to changes of pH by ANC test on slag produced in electric arc furnace, bottom ash produced in coal-fired plants and their recycling products. Availability test was performed to assess the fraction of the total concentration that under worst environmental conditions could become available for leaching. TCLP, KLT(Korea Leaching Test) and KLTS(Korea Leaching Test of Soil contamination) were carried out to compare the leaching capacity and to estimate the adequacy of regulatory leaching test. Results from regulatory leaching tests could be misleading because the variable ANC of wastes can lead to very different final leachate pHs. The final pH of the regulatory test is not the ambient pH in the disposal environment, the actual solubilities of contaminants in the field may be entirely different from those predicted by these regulatory tests. Leaching behaviour of by-products was changed by recycling processes, therefore acid neutralization capacity and availability of new products, not leaching concentration by one batch regulatory test, are necessary to determine the method of recycling.
This study aimed to effectively dissolve sulfide minerals through microwave-nitric acid leaching of invisible gold concentrate and then recover gold from the solid-residue with fire assay. For the purposes, this study conducted microwave-nitric acid leaching experiments to examine nitric acid concentration, time of microwave leaching, and sample addition effect. As results of the experiments, this study discovered that the weight loss rate of solid-residue increased as nitric acid concentration and microwave leaching time increased while weight loss rate decreased as sample addition increased. In an XRD analysis with solid-residue, it was discovered that pyrite completely disappeared when the nitric acid concentrate was 6 M and the microwave leaching time was 18 minutes. When a fire assay was carried out with solid-residue, gold particles with more content were recovered as nitric acid concentration and microwave leaching time increased whereas gold particles with more gold content were recovered as the sample addition decreased.
Leaching tests were conducted using sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions to remove impurities from domestic graphite concentrate. As a result of the leaching experiment using sulfuric acid solution and sodium hydroxide solution, respectively, the difference of removal efficiency was insignificant when the concentration of sodium hydroxide or sulfuric acid was 2 mol/L or more. The fixed carbon content increased with increasing the temperature in the sulfuric acid solution leaching, while it remains constant above 150℃ in sodium hydroxide solution. For the repeated sequential leaching tests, the leaching conditions were 2 mol/L NaOH, 200℃, 1 hour in the sodium hydroxide solution leaching and 2 mol/L H2SO4, 100℃, 1 hour in the sulfuric acid solution leaching, respectively. When sulfuric acid leaching followed by sodium hydroxide solution leaching was repeated 5 times, the fixed carbon increased to 99.95% and ash content decreased to 0.048%, while the fixed carbon increased to 99.98% and ash content was reduced to 0.018 when sodium hydroxide solution leaching followed by sulfuric acid solution leaching was repeated 5 times.
