그래핀-이산화티탄 복합 나노와이어를 혼입한 모르타르의 물성 평가 (Properties of Cement Mortar with Graphene-Titanium Dioxide Composite Nanowires)

  • The properties of cement mortar with graphene-titanium dioxide composite nanowires (TiO2(G)NW) were investigated in this study. The following tests were conducted with the cement mortar : (1) setting times (2) Flow test of fresh cement mortar, (3) compressive strength and (4) acetaldehyde removal efficiency under visible light. As the increase of TiO2(G) NW, the flow value of cement mortar was decreased and the setting times of cement mortar were faster. The compressive strength and the acetaldehyde removal efficiency were increased by the increase of TiO2(G) NW.

율무 Yoghurt 제조에 관한 연구 II. 율무 Yoghurt의 휘발성 향미성분 및 관능적 특성 (Studies on the Manufacture of Adlay Yoghurt II. The Volatile Flavour Compounds and the Sensory Properties of Adlay Yoghurt)

  • The volatile flavour compounds such as acetaldehyde, acetone, ethanol, diacetyl and acetoin were detected by gas chromatography in adlay yoghurt during fermentation and storage period at 4 $pm$1$^{circ}C$, but acetoin was trace. The contents of acetaldehyde of adlay yoghurt showed maximum immediately after fermentation and decreased significantly(P<0.05) with storage period and were in order of adlay yoghurt fermented with YC-380, ABT-D and ABT-4. The contents of acetone were shown similar trend to acetaldehyde and those of adlay yoghurt fermented with YC-380, ABT-4 and ABT-D, decreased rapidly from 6 days, 9 days and 12 days of storage, respectively. The contents of ethanol increased during the storage period and those were significant differences(p<0.05) between 6 days and 9 days of storage period in control and treatments. The contents of diacetyl were detected in control and treatments at 9 days of storage and increased slightly during the storage period. The contents of volatile flavour compounds of T1 showed similar to that of control and slightly high compared to those of treatments, and decreased gradually with increasing the level of addition of adlay in treatments. The taste, flavour and texture of T1 immediately after fermentation and during the storage period at 4$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$ were slightly higher than those of control and treatments. The scores of sensory evaluation of treatments except T1 were lowered significantly(p<0.05) with increasing level of addition of adlay. Adlay yoghurt fermented with YC-380 and ABT-4 and ABT-D were superior to both of taste and flavour, and texture, respectively. From the results mentioned above, the addition of taste and flavour, and texture, respectively. From the results mentioned above, the addition of adlay at 1% (w/v) level in skim milk substrate were suitable for quality of adlay yoghurt such as volatile flavour compounds and sensory property.

Supplementation of Laurus nobilis Attenuate Ethanol-induced Psychomotor Alterations in Rats

  • Laurus nobilis (L. nobilis) is traditionally used as an herbal medicine to treat various diseases. Ethanol (EtOH) consumption entails physiological, mental and psychomotor alterations. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of L. nobilis in attenuating the EtOH-induced psychomotor alterations. L. nobilis was administered to SD rats, 30 minutes before EtOH administration (4 g/kg), at doses of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg. Evaluations of psychomotor activity in the open-field, accelerating rota-rod, wire, and swimming ability were done at 1, 2, 4 and 8 hours after EtOH administration. In addition, blood ethanol and acetaldehyde levels were also measured. Pre-treatment of L. nobilis significantly improved EtOH-induced psychomotor alterations and decreased blood ethanol and acetaldehyde levels. These findings suggest that L. nobilis might be an effective substance to attenuate the harmful effects of EtOH, particularly psychomotor alterations, and can potentially be considered as a functional food.

Effect of Fermented Sea Tangle on the Alcohol Dehydrogenase and Acetaldehyde Dehydrogenase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

  • Sea tangle, a kind of brown seaweed, was fermented with Lactobacillus brevis BJ-20. The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) content in fermented sea tangle (FST) was 5.56% (w/w) and GABA in total free amino acid of FST was 49.5%. The effect of FST on the enzyme activities and mRNA protein expression of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) involved in alcohol metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was investigated. Yeast was cultured in YPD medium supplemented with different concentrations of FST powder [0, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.0% (w/v)] for 18 h. FST had no cytotoxic effect on the yeast growth. The highest activities and protein expressions of ADH and ALDH from the cell-free extracts of S. cerevisiae were evident with the 0.4% and 0.8% (w/v) FST-supplemented concentrations, respectively. The highest concentrations of GABA as well as minerals (Zn, Ca, and Mg) were found in the cell-free extracts of S. cerevisiae cultured in medium supplemented with 0.4% (w/v) FST. The levels of GABA, Zn, Ca, and Mg in S. cerevisiae were strongly correlated with the enzyme activities of ADH and ALDH in yeast. These results indicate that FST can enhance the enzyme activities and protein expression of ADH and ALDH in S. cerevisiae.

유동층 화학기상증착(FB-CVD)으로 제조한 광촉매 박막증착 비드의 조업변수에 따른 반응성 (Photocatalytic Activities of Titania Deposited Beads by FB-CVD as Operation Variables)

  • 유동층 화학기상 증착법으로 모재의 종류, 유동층 반응기 내부의 온도, 압력 그리고 산소유량 등의 여러 가지 조업변수들을 변화시키며 광촉매가 박막증착된 비드를 제조하였고 제조된 광촉매코팅비드의 광반응성 측정을 통해 최적조업조건을 결정하였다. 제조한 광촉매에 대하여 FE-SEM, XRD 그리고 XPS 분석을 수행하였고, 광반응성은 아세트알데히드의 분해능력을 측정하여 분석하였다. 광촉매가 박막증착된 비드의 FE-SEM 분석 결과 글라스 비드 위의 티타니아는 비교적 매끄럽게 증착되었고, 실리카 위의 티타니아는 입자의 형태로 증착되었으며 알루미나 위의 티타니아는 결정상을 이루며 증착됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 광반응성 측정 결과 알루미나를 모재로 사용하여 온도는 $600^{\circ}C$, 압력은 5 torr에서 제조하였을 때 아세트알데히드 광분해 반응에서 가장 높은 광반응성을 보였고, 산소 유량은 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

한약재 조성물이 흰쥐의 알코올성 숙취 및 사염화탄소 유발 간 손상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of an Oriental Herbal Composition, Jang Baek Union (JBU), on Alcohol-Induced Hangover and CCl4-Induced Liver Injury in Rats)

  • 본 연구에서는 숙취제거 및 간기능 개선에 전통적으로 사용되어온 한약재로 구성된 조성물 JBU의 효능을 동물실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 숙취제거 효능을 확인하기 위하여 알코올과 그 대사산물인 아세트알데히드의 혈중 농도를 측정한 결과, 혈중 알코을 농도에서 JBU 추출물 처리군은 대조군에 비해 유의적인 감소를 보였고, 특히 숙취의 원인물질로 지목되는 아세트알데히드 감소에 있어서도 유의적인 효과를 보였다. 간기능개선 효능의 확인을 위하여서는 사염화탄소 유발 간손상 동물모델에서 GPT와 GOT의 활성도를 측정하여 간손상 정도를 확인하였고, 조직병리학적 관찰을 통하여 간의 병적 변화를 관찰하였다. 사염화탄소는 확연하게 간손상을 유발시켰고, JBU 추출물은 GPT 및 GOT의 증가를 유의적으로 억제하였으며 조직학적으로도 간조직의 손상을 뚜렷하게 억제하였다.

Escherichia coli 형질전환체가 생산하는 Zymomonas mobilis 알콜 탈수소 효소의 분석 (Characterization of Alcohol Dehydrogenase Encoded by Zymomonas mobilis Gene Cloned in Escherichia coli)

  • Zymomonas mobilis의 알코올 탈수소 효소 유전자가 클로닝된 대장균 형질전환체의 세포 추출물로부터 알코올 탈수소 효소를 분리정제하였다. 형질전환된 Escherichia coli(pADS93)가 생산하는 Z.mobilis 유전자 유래의 알코올 탈수소 효소는 분자량이 40,000인 동일한 4개의 subunits로 구성된 tetramer임이 밝혀졌으며 이것은 Z.mobilis의 세포 추출물로부터 분리한 알코올 탈수소 효소와 동일하였다. 이 효소의 정반응(ethanol 산화)은 pH의 영향을 많이 받으며 pH는 10.0이었고 역반응(acetaldehyde 환원)에서는 최적의 pH가 7.5-8.5 이었지만 pH에 따라 크게 영향을 받지는 않았다.

천마 추출물이 알코올을 투여한 흰쥐의 간 기능 및 알코올 대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Gastrodiae rhizoma on the Liver Function and Alcohol Metabolism in Alcohol Treated Rats)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of freeze-dried Gastrodiae rhizoma powder (GR) on the liver function and alcohol metabolism in alcohol treated rats. Methods: The rats were administered various concentrations of GR (100 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg/kg B.W.) for 3 days 1 hour before 50% (v/v) ethanol (3 g/kg B.W.) administration. Two tests focusing on liver function and alcohol metabolism in acute alcohol treatment were carried out. Results: Glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase activity was significantly increased by alcohol treatment, and was decreased by 100 mg GR administration. Acute ethanol treatment led to significant increase in alcohol and acetaldehyde levels of serum and liver. However, 100 mg GR administration led to a significant reduction in increased alcohol level in the serum with decreased alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity and increased acetaldehyde level in liver was significantly reduced by three levels. Conclusion: These results suggest that GR can be effective in enhancing liver function and alcohol metabolism in the alcohol-treated rats. Studies on the appropriate dosage of GR should further be developed to treat alcohol detoxification and stimulate liver function.

발달단계가 다른 참외 태좌부의 알콜발효에 미치는 무산소처리효과 (Effect of Anoxia Treatment on the Placental Alcohol Fermentation of Oriental Melon (Cucumis meio) at Different Developmental Stage)

  • 발달단계가 다른 참외 태좌부의 알콜발효에 미치는 무산소처리효과를 검정하였다. 참외의 발달단계별 a-cetaldehyde 및 ethanol 수준을 검정한 결과, 비대 후기 (stage 3)의 과실에서 가장 낮았다. 무산소 처리기간동안 태좌부 중의 ethanol은 꾸준히 증가 하였으며, acetaldehyde 함량의 증가는 상대적으로 미미하였다. 그러나 alcohol dehydrogenase 활성은 무산소 처리 1일 까지 급격히 증가한 다음 서서히 감소하였고, pyruvate decarboxylase 활성은 저온 처리기간 중 증가하였다. 완숙기과실의 경우 두 효소의 활성은 증가하지 않았으나, 발효산물의 축적은 관찰되어, 완숙기 과실의 알콜발효는 효소활성의 증가에 기인하는 것이 아님을 알 수 있었다.
