Accumulation of Pseudomonas sp., P. fluorescens and Erwinia carotovora in 60 min treatment was greater in extracts from soil, exudate from ginseng root and solutions than distilled water. In bacterial movement toward rubber tube soil from chamber, accumulation of P. fluorescens in response to soil supplemented with soil extracts, exudate and solutions was generally greater in soil extracts compared to control and other solutions, but Pseudomonas sp. and E. carotovora were not much response to supplemented extracts, exudate and solutions. Accumulation of the bacteria in capillaries containing various exudates from fungal propagules with not attracted to the exudates. For an accumulation of bacteria in rubber tubes containing soil inoculated with fungal propagules, the Pseudomonas sp. was not attracted in soil inoculated by the organisms as attractant but P. fluorescens and E. carotovora to fungi were attracted to F. solani, F. oxysporum and mixed organism Alternaria panax did not affect on bacterial movement except E. carotovora. The organic matter conten in Kangwha and Kimpo soil were low in diseased and healthy soil. The K content was especially high in Kimpo healthy soil. Bacterial population in Goesan and Kangwha were more abundant than other soil. The number actinomycetes was populated abundant in healthy soil of Goesan and diseased soil of Poonggi.

This thesis is written about the causes, the processes and the treatments of edema. It consists of 31 chapters. Covering 11 chapters, there are prescriptions and constructions. When one of the organs fails to work metabolizing water, you can have edema. It is the result of the accumulation of excess fluid under the skin. Edema most commonly occurs in the head facial, the palpebral portion, the feet and legs or all the body. Sometimes it is accompanied with ascites. There are three classifications in the thesis. First, according to the cause and the symptom of disease, it is divided into 5 types. Type 1. The swelling caused by the disorder of the lungs from the troubling wind. Type 2. The swelling caused by the weak spleen. Type 3. The swelling caused by abnormal condition between the kidneys and the lungs. Type 4. The swelling in abdomen caused by the weak kidneys. Type 5. The swelling (Yellow sweat) caused by the heat inside body as water outside. Second, the swelling and the abnormal symptom of five viscera. Third, the swelling accompanied with menstruation in female and with chilliness. In short, the original textbook is showed that the treatment of edema focuses on the cause and the region of fluid accumulation. When the swelling is in the upper body or the cause of diseaseis outside, the useless humidity can be expelled through sweating. On the other hand, when the swelling is in the lower body or the cause of disease is inside, it is pushed out by urination. In this book, the author presents further treatments. And these treatments are often cited by doctors after ages. Even one of them suggested that the swelling be divided by cosmic dual forces. In spite of many researches, it is too complicate for us to understand the writer’s intend. For that reason, comparing with other medical books and referring to guides explained by doctors, I have studied the textbook to help understand.
This study investigated organic carbon fluxes in Ulleung Basin sediments, East Sea based on a chamber experiment and geochemical analyses. At depths greater than 2,000 m, Ulleung Basin sediments have high organic carbon contents (over 2.0%). Apparent sedimentation rates (ASR) calculated from excess $^{210}Pb$ activity distribution, varied from 0.036 to $0.047\;cm\;yr^{-1}$. The mass accumulation rates (MAR) calculated from porosity, grain density (GD), and ASR, ranged from 131 to $184\;g\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$. These results were in agreement with sediment trap results obtained at a water depth of 2100 m. Input fluxes of organic carbon varied from 7.89 to $11.08\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$ at the basin sediments, with an average of $9.56\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$. Below a sediment depth of 15cm, burial fluxes of organic carbon ranged from 2.02 to $3.10\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$. Within the basin sediments, regenerated fluxes of organic carbon estimated with oxygen consumption rate, varied from 6.22 to $6.90\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$. However, the regenerated fluxes of organic carbon calculated by subtracting burial flux from input flux, varied from 5.87 to $7.98\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$. Respectively, the proportions of the input flux, regenerated flux, and burial flux to the primary production ($233.6\;gC\;m^{-2}\;yr^{-1}$) in the Ulleung Basin were about 4.1%, 3.0%, and 1.1%. These proportions were extraordinarily higher than the average of world open ocean. Based upon these results, the Ulleung Basin might play an integral role in the deposition and removal of organic carbon.

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the emission characteristics for various alternative fuels in a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine. The conventional diesel fuel, neat GTL (Gas to Liquid), blends of diesel and biodiesel(BD20), and blends of GTL and biodiesel(G+BD20 and G+BD40) were applied, and their emission characteristics were compared at various steady-state engine operating conditions. A noticeable reduction of exhaust emissions compared to conventional diesel fuel, except for NOx emission, was observed for G+BD40, where there is a maximum 30% averaged reduction for gaseous emissions (THC and CO) and 70% for PM mass concentrations. When comparing PM size distributions for biodiesel blended fuels, the PM number concentration in accumulation mode, where the diameter of PM is greater than 50 nm, decreased due to additional oxygen content in the biodiesel fuel; in nucleation mode, where the diameter of PM is less than 50nm, there was a slight increase or decrease in the PM number concentration depending on the amount of oxygen available in the combustion chamber.

This study was conducted to assess the efficacy of slurry acidification in reducing ammonia emission from manure storage and application. The non-fermented cattle manure (NFC) and swine slurry (SS) were acidified by sulfuric acid and stored in an acryl chamber for 168 and 96 hours, respectively. Ammonia emitted from the chamber was collected using an acid trap system. The amount of ammonia emission was significantly reduced when the livestock manures were treated with sulfuric acid. The absolute amount of ammonia in NFC increased rapidly starting from 48 h and 72 h in the control (pH 8.6) and acidified NFC (pH 6.5), respectively. The absolute amount of ammonia was the highest at 96 h ($3.65g\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$) in the control and at 144 h ($2.34g\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$) in pH 6.5 NFC. The cumulative ammonia content in the control continuously increased until 96 h and was maintained until 168 h, whereas the increase rate of emission gas accumulation in acidified NFC was much less throughout the experimental period. Acidification of SS mitigated ammonia emission as proven in NFC. The cumulative amount of ammonia emission was decreased by 49.4% and 92.3% in the acidified SS at pH 6.5 and pH 5.5, respectively, compared to the control at 96 h after treatment. These results indicate that ammonia emission can be significantly reduced by sulfuric acid treatment of livestock manure during processing and the subsequent land application.

Recently, the problem of the accumulation of fine sludge from the cutting oil generated during machining processes has become a major threat to the environment. The fine sludge has adverse affects on the human body and the environment, and significantly contributes to marine pollution. However, a microfiltration technique that can process the sludge still needs to be studied and developed on a global scale. Therefore, it is necessary to develop eco-friendly equipment such as an ECO vacuum filter system and eco-friendly technologies for processing cutting oil. In this study, a structural analysis was carried out using a finite element method (FEM). Improved models of the suction chamber for the ECO vacuum filter system were proposed based on the analysis of the displacement and stress of the system. The model with the best result was then optimized using the commercial software, ANSYS. It was confirmed that, in the optimized model, displacement and stress were reduced in comparison with the initial model. Finally, the structural stability of the optimized model was verified through analysis.

This study aimed to analyze the growth and physical responsees of Dracaena braunii in response salt accumulation in ornamental water culture and to examine the effect of activated carbon on this growth response. The experiment was conducted in a plant growth chamber and the indoor environmental conditions of the chamber were set at $23{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ temperature, $70{\pm}3%$ humidity, and 1,000 lux brightness. The observation of the growth response of plants in the presence of activated carbon showed that the pH with activated carbon maintained sub-acidic to neutral (6.27~7.32) conditions and showed decreased electric conductivity in the media. As the treatment with added activated carbon showed good growth and physical responses, this indicated that absorption effect of activated carbon had a positive influence on the growth of plants. However, as the absorption effect of activated carbon may decrease over time and the use of high concentrations of activated carbon might cause nutrition shortage, various concentration of activated carbon and their absorption effects need to be investigated in the future.
BACKGROUND: Chinese cabbage biosynthesizes various phytochemicals including carotenoids and glucosinolates. Environmental stress has a major effect on the growth and yields of vegetables, and can significantly affect nutritionally important phytochemicals. Phytochemicals of plants are influenced by light, temperature, carbon dioxide, and growing conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of various light sources on carotenoid and glucosinolate contents in Chinese cabbage. METHODS AND RESULTS: [Experiment I] Set the control (field control, FC) on the ground. Using acrylic sunlight, experiments were set up transparency box (field transparency, FT), red box (field red, FR) and blue box (field blue, FB). [Experiment II] Set the control (chamber control, CC) in the greenhouse. Using plant growth chamber with artificial light, experiments were set up LED red (chamber red, CR), LED blue (chamber blue, CB), LED mixed red+blue (chamber red+blue, CRB) and fluorescent (chamber fluorescent, CF). After plant growth, Chinese cabbage was harvested at 110 days after sowing (DAS). The status of plants growth (leaf length, width, fresh weight etc.) was immediately investigated. Carotenoid and GSL contents were analyzed by HPLC. [Experiment I] Results documented that the ranges of total carotenoid contents were 25.39 ~ 58.80 mg/kg dry wt for lutein, 0.84~ 4.22 mg/kg dry wt for zeaxanthin, and 3.85~18.71 mg/kg dry wt for ${\beta}$-carotene. Lutein was the highest for the content and the largest for the variation as well. [Experiment II] Results documented that the ranges of total carotenoid contents were 24.66~137.96 for lutein, 2.51~20.65 for zeaxanthin, and 8.40~49.80 mg/kg dry wt for ${\beta}$-carotene. The total carotenoid contents of CR (156.62) and CB (115.90) were 1.6~2.3 times larger than the other treatments, and ${\beta}$-carotene content was about twice as high as that of the other treatments on the CR (38.74 mg/kg dry wt.). [Experiment I] Total GSL content was the highest in FT (19.76) that was higher 1.7 times than the lowest treatment ($11.39{\mu}mol/g\;dry\;wt$.). [Experiment II] The total content of GSL was highest in CRB (4.19) and lowest in CF ($2.88{\mu}mol/g\;dry\;wt$.). In the CRB, total GSL contents ($4.19{\mu}mol/g\;dry\;wt$.) was the highest. CONCLUSION: Total and individual carotenoid and GSL contents in Chinese cabbage show significant differences under different light sources. Red and blue lights contribute to significant carotenoids expression and antioxidant activity for nutrition and health benefits. These results concluded that the introduction of varying lights affected the synthesis of important nutrient compounds in Chinese cabbage. It is predicted that the application of good light source enhances the accumulation of functional compounds.

In this study, we carried out an investigation of the etching characteristics (etch rate, and selectivity to $SiO_2$) of $ZrO_2$ thin films in a $CF_4$/Ar inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. The maximum etch rate of 60.8 nm/min for $ZrO_2$ thin films was obtained at a 20 % $CF_4/(CF_4+Ar)$ gas mixing ratio. At the same time, the etch rate was measured as a function of the etching parameter, namely ICP chamber pressure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed efficient destruction of the oxide bonds by the ion bombardment, as well as an accumulation of low volatile reaction products on the etched surface. Based on these data, the ion-assisted chemical reaction was proposed as the main etch characteristics for the $CF_4$-containing plasmas.
To evaluate the effect of occlusive skin on the activity of cutaneous oxygen free radical metabolizing enzymes in rats, the dorsal skin was covered with closed glass chamber shaped petri dish, 46 mm in diameter and 10 mm in height and sealed by an adhesive. Five day-occluded group showed more increased activity of xanthine oxidase (XO) than that of control, and the activity of five day-occluded group was higher than that of ten day-occluded group. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were significantly higher in ten day-occluded group than in control or five day-occluded group. All the more, five day-occluded group showed the decreasing tendency of SOD and GPx activities compared to those of control. On the other hand, the cerrous perhydroxide deposits were observed in the intercellular space of the stratum basale in five day-occluded group under the electronic microscope using a cytochemistry method. Futhermore, the degree of cerrous perhydroxide reaction was lower in ten day-occluded group than in five day-occluded group. In conclusion, the increased XO activity and the decreased SOD and GPx activities are likely to responsible far the accumulation of $H_2O_2$ in five day-occluded group.
