  • The KSLV-II project with high difficulties technically requires thorough technical management during long-term life cycle more than 10 years for launching into space. The TRL is a quantitative indicator developed by NASA widely used all over the world to measure technology maturity of a system development objectively and consistently. The TRL is also used to make sure technology level and to establish a future direction in the KSLV-II project. The TRL has advantage enable to identify a technology level through quantitative indicators. However, it takes a lot of efforts such as trials and errors, time and cost to apply it to the project considering the project environments, and stakeholder needs. These include not only to establish TRL management plan from ideal, conceptual and abstractive standards/guidelines such as NASA's, but also to construct TRL management environment enable to apply and manage harmoniously. In the KSLV-II project, it is required to figure out current technology level and technology development trend in the future, to access conveniently, to share related data in real time, and to update periodically for the comprehensive TRL management. From the reason above, the TRL management environment was built by using the systems engineering tool already has been used for other system management data such as requirements in the project. It also could be accomplished a practical management basis of systems engineering from the traceability among system management data including TRL. In this paper, case study results are introduced to manage the TRL for the space launch vehicle using the systems engineering tool in the KSLV-II project.

  • Objectives : This study aims to present a new classification system using evaluation standards to ensure the safety of transport ventilators used in Korea. Due to the rapid advancement of technology, various types of ventilators have been developed and as the range of application increases, so does demand. With quick access to information and a growing economy, the technology used in Korean hospitals is equivalent to that of other countries; however, regulatory and safety consciousness are still lagging in Korea. Methods : Based on researching overseas cases, reference data and standards for improving the current system in Korea are proposed. Results : According to the review of transport ventilator use in Korea, it was found that concerns about safety is due to the absence of a standardized classification system for evaluating the safety and effectiveness of transport ventilators. Conclusions : In order to improve the safety of patients and the quality of medical care, it is essential to establish guidelines and assessment standards guaranteeing the safety of transport ventilators in Korea. Clear definitions and classifications for devices must precede the application of such standards. In addition, effective evaluation standards should be developed in order to resolve problems and improve upon the current system through continuous validation.

  • Care farm recently has been introduced as social farm and green care centered on Europe, and has been developing rapidly in the last 20 years. Although it is being introduced gradually in Korea, it is still only at the beginning level, and it does not provide a guide for systematic farm owners' model and operation of the Care farm. In Care farm, advanced countries are making it possible to operate a more common care farm by providing a systematic national guide. By reviewing the literature of these guidelines in advanced countries, the contents are organized to help compose the guidelines for domestic care farm. In Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and Finland, the contents of the guidelines for care farm by country can be broadly divided into general matters, how to start a care farm project for farm owners, understanding of target audience, farm organization system, farm management, and farm life. As the demand for care farms increases in Korea as well, guidelines for farm owners should be disseminated to facilitate access to care farms. It is also considered a good way to make a guide by combining it with the medical field, and it seems that it is necessary for the farmer to understand the medical field to some extent.

  • The whole objective of two papers in series was to develop the framework of an information management system (IMS) for soil-contaminated sites. In this work, we investigated current status of information management in our country and the IMSs of developed countries such as USA, Germany, Netherlands, and Japan. Through the investigation, we made four suggestions which could be taken into account for developing the IMS's framework. Firstly, we need to append the amendments on definition of information management and opening to the public to the Soil Environment Conservation Law. Secondly, detailed guidelines for each cleanup phase need to be developed. Thirdly, in order to increase the access of the public into the IMS, we need to provide electronic data files (e.g., PDF files) for them. Finally, a sole institution need to be chosen to control efficiently the IMS. In the subsequent paper, we will develop the framework of the IMS, based on the results of this work.

They were conducted in the elderly individual rooms, lounges, program rooms, dining room, or(and) auditorium. The results of the study were as follows: First, investigating the activity spaces, the lounges and elderly individual rooms were mostly on the same floor so that the elderly had no big trouble in access to the lounge. The program rooms of the facilities in suburban and rural area were on the same floor as the elderly individual rooms and they were likely to combine with another usage, compared to those On city were mostly separated from the residence floor. Most of dining rooms and auditorium were on the basement or on the 1st floor. Second, in the programs by the activity spaces, elderly individual room and the program room were used more for the human knowledge and art programs with small group. The lounges were for recreation and social activities with (both of) small or(and) big group and dining rooms were mainly used for cooking programs. In auditorium, recreation, religious and social activity were performed with big group. Third, the individual rooms for the elderly had more capacity if those did not have any beds, but often had a trouble in making a passage way. The lounges needed to remove decorations and displayed furniture obstructing the passages and to arrange both of the western and eastern type of tables for the efficient use of the spaces. It took a long time in preparation of the furniture and other equipment if the program room was with another usage.
