  • Bamboo concrete bond behaviour is investigated through pullout test in this work. The bamboo strip to be used as reinforcement inside concrete is first treated with chemical adhesive to make the bamboo surface impermeable. Various surface coatings are explored to understand their water repellant properties. The chemical action at the bamboo concrete interface is studied through different chemical coatings, sand blasting, and steel wire wrapping treatment. Whereas mechanical action at the bamboo concrete interface is studied by developing mechanical interlock. The result of pullout tests revealed a unique combination of surface treatment and grooved bamboo profile. This combination of surface treatment and a grooved bamboo profile together enhances the strength of bond. Performance of a newly developed grooved bamboo strip is verified against equivalent plain rectangular bamboo strip. The test results show that the proposed grooved bamboo reinforcement, when treated, shows highest bond strength compared to treated plain, untreated plain and untreated grooved bamboo reinforcement. Also, it is observed that bond strength is majorly influenced by the type of surface treatment, size and spacing of groove. The changes in bamboo-concrete bond behavior are observed during the experimentation.

  • In current study, utilizing the Kelvin's theory with polynomial, exponential and trigonometric volume fraction laws for functionally graded cylindrical shell vibrations. Effects of different parameters for ratios of length- and height-to-radius and angular speed versus fundamental natural frequencies been determined for two categories of cylindrical shells with clamped-free edge condition. By increasing different value of height-to-radius ratio, the resulting backward and forward frequencies increase and frequencies decrease on increasing length-to-radius ratio. Moreover, on increasing the rotating speed, the backward frequencies increases and forward frequencies decreases. The frequencies are same when the cylinder is stationary. The frequencies increases and decreases on changing the constituent materials. The frequency results are verified with the earlier literature for the applicability of present model.

  • In the preliminary design phase of explosion-proof structures, the use of P-I diagram is useful. Based on the fact that the deformation criteria at failure or heavy damage is significantly larger than the yield deformation, a closed form solution of normalized P-I diagram is proposed using the complete plastic resistance curve. When actual sizes and material properties of RC structural component are considered, the complete plasticity assumption shows only a maximum error of 6% in terms of strain energy, and a maximum difference of 9% of the amount of explosives in CWSD. Thru comparison with four field test results, the same damage pattern was predicted in all four specimens.

  • In this paper we study modules with the W F I+-extending property. We prove that if M satisfies the W F I+-extending, pseudo duo properties and M/(Soc M) has finite uniform dimension then M decompose into a direct sum of a semisimple submodule and a submodule of finite uniform dimension. In particular, if M satisfies the W F I+-extending, pseudo duo properties and ascending chain (respectively, descending chain) condition on essential submodules then M = M1 ⊕ M2 for some semisimple submodule M1 and Noetherian (respectively, Artinian) submodule M2. Moreover, we show that if M is a W F I-extending module with pseudo duo, C2 and essential socle then the quotient ring of its endomorphism ring with Jacobson radical is a (von Neumann) regular ring. We provide several examples which illustrate our results.

  • Multiple mathematical modeling for prediction of slump, compressive strength and depth of water penetration at 28 days were performed using statistical analysis for the concrete containing waste limestone powder as partial replacement of sand obtained from experimental program reported in this research. To extract experimental data, 180 concrete cubic samples with 20 different mix designs were investigated. The twenty non-linear regression models were used to predict each of the concrete properties including slump, compressive strength and water depth penetration of concrete with waste limestone powder. Evaluation of the models using numerical methods showed that the majority of models give acceptable prediction with a high accuracy and trivial error rates. The 15-term regression models for predicting the slump, compressive strength and water depth were found to have the best agreement with the tested concrete specimens.

  • In this paper, we propose a classification model based on convolutional neural network(CNN) for predicting 2-year recurrence in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients using preoperative chest CT images. Based on the region of interest(ROI) defined as the tumor internal and external area, the input images consist of an intratumoral patch, a peritumoral patch and a peritumoral texture patch focusing on the texture information of the peritumoral patch. Each patch is trained through AlexNet pretrained on ImageNet to explore the usefulness and performance of various patches. Additionally, ensemble learning of network trained with each patch analyzes the performance of different patch combination. Compared with all results, the ensemble model with intratumoral and peritumoral patches achieved the best performance (ACC=98.28%, Sensitivity=100%, NPV=100%).

  • This study relates to a production of Quaternary Cement Concrete (QCC) prepared by using Micro Silica (MS), Marble Dust (MD) and Rice Husk Ash (RHA), followed by an investigation towards fresh and hardened properties of blended concrete. A total of 39 mixes were cast by incorporating different percentages of MS (6%, 7% and 8%), MD (5%, 10% and 15%) and RHA (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) as partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement. The workability of fresh concrete was maintained in the range of 100±25 mm by adding 0.7% of Super Plasticizer in the mix. Optimum mechanical strength was observed at combination of 8% MS+5% MD+10% RHA. Marble dust replacement from 10 to 15% and Rice husk ash replacements from 15 to 20% depicted a substantial reduction in compressive strength at all ages. Durability parameter with respect to water absorption at 28 days shows an increasing trend as the percentage of blending increases.

  • In present study, the nonlocal Flügge shell model based is utilized to investigate the vibration characteristics of armchair and chiral single-walled carbon nanotubes with impact of small-scale effect subjected to two boundary supports. The wave propagation approach is employed to determine eigen frequencies for armchair and chiral tubes. The fundamental frequencies scrutinized with assorted aspect ratios by varying the bending rigidity. The raised in value of nonlocal parameter reduces the corresponding fundamental frequency. It is investigated with higher aspect ratio, the boundary conditions have a momentous influence on vibration of CNT. It is concluded that frequencies would increase by increasing of the bending rigidity. Solutions of the frequency equation have determined by writing in MATLAB coding.
