  • Most of Korea's beauty college education focuses on the subject rather than the industrial field of the industrialized world. It is centered on subjects rather than on-site job modules, and training sessions are required for graduation of the training period rather than having flexible configurations. Therefore, the education curriculum and industrial field training are becoming mismatched because of the goal of acquiring a certificate in skin care major subjects. Based on this problem, the researcher made a questionnaire about the certificate utilization of students who are majoring in skin care and 294 students were surveyed. It was found that it had a high degree of utilization to take a job, but that it had below normal level on utilization after entering the industrial field. Based on this analysis result, I propose to review the need to reorganize the skin care curriculum, which is based on the national competency standards (NCS) beginning in 2014. Education experts at the college of skin care should continue to develop a curriculum centered on academic subjects and industrial field curriculum as closely as possible, by focusing on the direction and trend of the industry's branches and industry experts.

  • Library and information research is often directed towards either the management of resources (e.g., the economics of resource management), their storage and retrieval (e.g., much information retrieval research), and the users of these resources (the whole area of information behaviour. However, the question that is less often asked is, "What research do librarians want to have carried out to help them in their work?" Clearly, some of the topics just mentioned will fall into the priority areas, but what do librarians actually perceive will be of use to them. There is a notion that a research-practice gap exists in the field and perhaps the reason for that is that researchers do not ask the practioners what research will be of value to them. To find an answer to this question on a global basis would, of course, be impossible - at least impossible without the level of funding that would be difficult to obtain from any source. However, it is possible to carry out research on a national level that could prove useful both to practitioners and to the library and information research community. This was the aim of a project, supported by the Svensk Biblioteksf$\"{o}$rening (Swedish Library Association), which was carried out in 2008/2009. Ideas on potential research projects were collected from librarians themselves, from discussion group archives and from the professional journals in a number of countries. These ideas were then grouped thematically and formed the basis of two rounds of a Delphi process to solicit the opinions of a panel of librarians in different sectors, recommended by their peers as 'expert' in their field. The Delphi process was concluded with a workshop involving a subset of the panel. This paper will report on the results of the investigation, which attracted a great deal of interest within the profession in Sweden, and will also reflect on issues that were ranked lowly in the investigation. For example, not a great deal of priority was given to topics relating to the development and use of technology: why was this? And would the same result be found in other countries? One major area of research interest was into the future of libraries and a topic of relevance here, especially for academic and research libraries, is the changing information behaviour of researchers: what, now, do researchers want of libraries? Clearly, technology is playing a role here, but digitized resources and the World Wide Web may not be the answer to every researcher's need. Research into libraries and research for libraries ought to figure largely in the profession's view of its aims, objectives and visions of the future: but for it to do so requires a recognition that the work will not be done unless researchers and practitioners come together to determine how to approach the future.

  • This study investigated the current state of writing in research papers of science education with focus on the translationese and basic Korean grammar, and found a way of improving the Korean language. The science education research have characteristics of both social science and natural science, and of having more quantitative than qualitative research, which could influence the writing of the research paper. The translationese means the conventional expression originated from foreign language other than Korean. The basic Korean grammar includes 'agreement,' 'spelling, word spacing, punctuation mark,' 'causative suffix,' 'use of English or loanword,' and the translationese is divided in 'English,' 'Japanese,' and 'English and Japanese.' The sentences in nine research papers in the 'Journal of the Korean Association for Science Education' were analyzed, and the problematic sentences were discussed and provided with alternatives. The cases with high frequency include '-jeok,' 'use of English,' 'expression of the plural,' 'passive voice of the verb with -hada,' '-go inneun,' '-eul tonghayeo,' '-e daehayeo,' 'gajida,' 'genitive case marker -eui,' 'passive voice with subject of thing,' and 'causative suffix, -sikida.' Based on the results, the characteristics of writing of science education research papers were described as 'writing of quantitative research,' 'objective writing of academic research,' and 'writing of research of foreign origin.' In order to improve the writing of research paper of science education, the science education researcher should pay attention to basic Korean grammar and the translationese, and be familiar with the concrete examples of problematic cases. The results of this study could be used in the education of writing and grammar of Korean language.

  • Digital library research has attracted much attention. While many research projects are funded by government agencies and national and international bodies, some are run by specific academic and research institutions and libraries. While some digital library projects, such as the ELINOR project in the UK, the first two phases of the eLib(Electronic Libraries) programme in the UK, and the first phase of the DLI(Digital Library Initiative) in the USA, are now over, a number of other projects are currently under-way in different parts of the world. Beginning with the definitions and characteristics of digital libraries proposed by various researchers, this paper provides brief accounts of some major digital library projects that are currently in progress, or are just completed, in different parts of the world. There follows a review of digital library research under 16 major headings. Literature for this review has been identified through a search on the LISA CD-ROM database and a Dialog search on library and information science databases, and the resulting output has been supplemented by a scan of the various issues of D-Lib Magazine and Ariadne, and the Web sites of various organizations and institutions engaged in digital library research. The review indicates that we have learned a lot through digital library research within a short span of time. However, a number of issues are yet to be resolved. The paper ends with an indication of the research issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the near future in order to bring the digital library from the researcher's laboratory to the real life environment.

  • The domain of LED is analyzed for describing the current status of Korea's R&D in the domain comparing with those of others quantitatively. Fourteen sub-domains of LED manufacturing technology are selected and the time span for analysis is ten-year: 2001-2010. Bibiliometric analysis is performed by the unit of publication, core researcher, institution and country. Strategical diagram is also produced with devised two indicators: NGI and NPI. As a result, Korea is competitive in the area of Chip Scale Package, but R&D supports in another promising areas, such as large-caliber sapphire wafer, are necessary. It is also revealed that research activities are expanded dominantly in academia, but practical technologies are developed in industrial circle. It is suggested that to support core corporate and to encourage industrial-academic collaboration is essential for systematical technology development and high achievement in prominent areas.

  • The purpose of this study was to discuss the relationship between Korean people's normative sense of the traditional filial piety and their affiliation with relatives. For this purpose, the researcher reviewed ethics books during the Chosun dynasty such as Naehoon Women's Ethics), Dongmongsonsup (Children's Cardinal Moral Principles) ,Kyokmongyokyol (Juvenile's Learning) and Gyuenyoso (Instructions for Daughters of Marriageable Age), Based on this review a questionnaire was designed. For the survey,566 returned questionnaires from married people between their 20's and 70's living in Seoul and Wonju Si were sampled The collected data were analyzed using the SAS program for means and SDs of each area in order to examine the overall tendency, and were subject to one-way ANOVA to determine the relationship between their normative sense of the traditional filial piety and their affiliations with relatives depending on their demographic variables, In addition to this correlation analysis, the data underwent regression analysis to determine the significant factors affecting the subjects' sense of filial piety and their affiliation with relatives. The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; First, the subjects were found to have a normal or higher sense of filial piety in overall terms, which suggests that the Korean morality of filial piety may be positive. In particular, the subjects' sense of filial piety was higher for living parents than for dead ones. Namely, they wanted to give more respect, honor and support to their parents than give a cordial funeral or memorial service to deceased parents. Second, older Koreans were more aware of filial piety, and men were more conscious of filial piety than women. Buddhists or atheists tended to be more faithful to their parents. Generally, those with lower academic background and living with larger families had a higher normative sense of filial piety. On the other hand, those in their 60's and 70's were most affiliated with their relatives, while youth and middle-aged people were less affiliated with their relatives. Men were more affiliated with their relatives than women, and first sons or daughters were more affiliated with their relatives. Besides, those living with larger families were more affiliated with their relatives. Third, the subjects' normative sense of filial piety, particularly for deceased parents, was highly correlated with their affiliation with relatives, and such a normative sense of filial piety was most conspicuous in their funeral rites.

  • Previous literature reviews have provided important insights into social game addictions, but the issue still needs to be examined from other directions such as the distribution of research purposes. For this purpose, 61 papers from selected journals were analyzed by a meta-analysis method. Specifically, this study poses the following three research questions: (1) What are the major of research purposes and methodologies? (2) What are the highly cited articles in studies of social game addictions? Results showed five new findings: (1) the research purpose of most social game addictions studies focuses on investigating the effect, followed by evaluating the influence of social game addictions. (2) Surveys and experimental methods were the preferred research methods, regardless of whether the research purpose focused on investigating or evaluation. (3) Social game addictions studies are most prevalent at the game users, higher education institutions, followed by schools. (4) Social game addictions studies most frequently supports researcher in the professions and applied sciences, followed by humanities, formal sciences and social sciences. (5) The most highly cited articles fall into the categories of investigating the effects and followed by evaluating the influence, designing a model and evaluating the effects of social game addictions. In this regard, this study of issues in social game addictions presents findings that can help supplement linkages with previous studies and forms an important reference base to pursue deeper academic discussions in the current research fields. These results and findings not only to supplement understanding of social game addictions based on different and important viewpoints, but also to provide useful insights for researchers and educators into issues related to social game addictions studies in future.
