  • This study aimed to identify the correlation of stress-coping, humor sense, and adaptation to college of nursing students. Three hundred thirty eight subjects completed a structured questionnaire in June 2012. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The mean scores were as follows; stress-coping 43.33, humor sense 72.18, and adaptation to college 68.02. It meant beyond the intermediate level. Significant differences were found between adaptation to college scores and general characteristics such as gender, academic year, family type, economic status, campus life satisfaction, relation with faculties, grade, and the relationship with the opposite gender. There was significant but weak correlation of stress-coping, humor sense, and adaptation to college. These results suggest that it is necessary to develop individualized education programs considering students' characteristics. Additionally, university adjustment related factors should be studied.

  • Objectives In the later period of Choseon dynasty, korean pediatrics became a pivot part of medicine. SoAUiBang was the most important book in that era. DongEuiBoGam was the most widely read of all oriental medicine books and published in early days of the Choseon dynasty. Therefore, this comparative study on the prescription and formation of SoAUiBang and DongEuiBoGam could be a useful way to understand SoAUiBang's characteristics. Methods This study was based on SoAUiBang and DongEuiBoGam, two literatures of oriental medicine. Results 1. Formation of SoAUiBang had a similar aspect with that of DongEuiBoGam's and enlarged the area of pediatrics by featuring general medical books. However, its formation did not follow the DongEuiBoGam's, but had its unique formation. It tried to include all diseases of pediatrics in the system of DongEuiBoGam. Plus, smallpox and measles belonged to the epidemic diseases were excluded from the area of pediatrics. 2. Comparing SoAUiBang's prescription of some important diseases with DongEuiBoGam's, it was almost a prescription based on DongEuiBoGam's prescription. However, adjustment of herbs and dosages could not be found in any oriental medicine books including DongEuiBoGam. Conclusions SoAUiBang maintained the traditional Oriental medicine based on author's scholarly creativeness. In addition, it also inherited the lineage of medicine in Korea along with the pedigree of DongEuiBoGam. Therefore, SoAUiBang should be re-evaluated as a medicine book that opened a new field of pediatric and had great academic values.

  • Objectives : Childhood is a critical period involving various developmental tasks that need to be accomplished. Childhood depression has overall negative implications for certain areas of development, including cognition, emotion, social skills, academic achievement, and ability to cope with stress. Yet, because depression can be "masked" by accompanying behavioral problems, early detection and diagnosis of childhood depression is somewhat challenging. In this study, using the Korean version of the Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), we evaluated the association between children's self reports on depression and parents' assessment of children's behaviors. Methods : Subjects were recruited from the S city, a cohort comprising a non-random convenience sample of 226, 10-year-old ethnic Koreans in their fourth year of elementary school and their parents. All participants underwent several tests, including Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and K-CBCL. Results : A total of 226 children, including 166 boys (73.5%) and 60 girls (26.5%), participated in the study. The average CDI for the participants was 14.57 (SD=7.54). Two items on the K-CBCL, total scale of adjustment scale and social withdrawal problems, showed a close association with the CDI. Conclusion : Although much remains to be elucidated, after controlling for covariates, the results of this study suggested that behavioral problems observed in children may be closely associated with depression.

  • In this paper the negotiation skills, which have been so far known as non-scientific or artistic field, are analyzed on the basis of behavioral science view point. Negotiator's behavior and psychological situation are believed to influence the negotiation result significantly, therefore, those factors are reviewed with behavioral science framework. Some concepts developed in Cognitive Psychology to explain the decision making models - prominence, commitment, escalation of commitment, framing, adjustment and anchoring, endowment effect - are reconceptualized and applied to the negotiation skill analysis and negotiation skill development in this paper. As the results of this research, various negotiation skills which have been so far believed as irrational and artistic are now able to be explained on the basis of sound logic and reasoning. This means also that valuable and elegant negotiation skills should be further developed by behavioral scientists.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of obesity on the physiological levels of adiponectin, leptin and components of metabolic syndrome (MS) in male workers, aged 30-40 years. Methods: Body mass index (BMI) was measured with Anthropometric equipment. Blood pressure and serum parameters were measured with an automatic digital sphygmomanometer and autochemical analyzer, respectively. Adiponectin and leptin were analysed by ELISA kits and MS was defined based on the NCEP-ATP III. Results: Body fat mass of waist and hip, systolic and diastolic blood pressure were significantly higher, as expected, in the BMI>25kg/$m^2$ in comparison with the $BMI{\leq}25kg/m^2$. While fasting glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR and leptin in the BMI>25kg/$m^2$ were also significantly higher compared with $BMI{\leq}25kg/m^2$, HDL-cholesterol and adiponectin were significantly higher in $BMI{\leq}25kg/m^2$. On multiple logistic regression analysis for the components of MS, exercise, adiponectin and leptin were an only independent factor for MS in non-obese male workers($BMI{\leq}25kg/m^2$) after adjustment for age, cigarette smoking and drinking habits. Conclusion: These results suggested that the obesity in men was associated with physiological levels of adiponectin and leptin contributing to feedback control of MS and that dysfunction and/or declination in feedback control system associated with changes in physiological levels of neurptrophics: adiponectin and leptin might ultimately induce MS.

  • Purpose: The objectives for this study are to produce the comprehensive management indexes and find their application strategies for appropriate medical care in primary care clinics under workers' compensation insurance. Method: Data of this study was workers' compensation insurance medical fees claim's data from July 2006 to June 2007. Data were analyzed using SAS 9.1 version by applying descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation. The indexes such as costliness index(CI), standard medical fee were calculated based on the fourth revision of korean classification of diseases(KCD-4.). Results: The CI, visiting index(VI), outliers index(OI), and medical review adjustment percentage were positively correlated in the both inpatient and outpatient medical fees in primary care clinics under workers' compensation insurance. The major medical specialities were neurological surgery, general medicine, general surgery, rehabitational medicine, and orthopedic surgery. The CIs were slightly high in rehabitational medicine among major medical specialities. The CIs were mostly high in diagnosis, test, anesthesia, and rehabitational assistive device fees among major medical specialities. The CIs were slightly high in Kwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, and Busan districts among district management centers of Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service. Conclusions: We suggest the continuous development of appropriate disease classification system and medical care quality indicators to successfully take root the comprehensive management for appropriate medical care under workers' compensation.

  • With these excavated clothes discussed above, the clothing style before and after the Chosun-Japan War from 1592 to 1597 can be summarized as follows. 1) Shroud was a clothes newly made for funeral or usually worn by the deceased. Shroud was mostly a unlined clothes whose adjustment was made in such way its left part was on top of its right one. Yeomeui, a clothes used to wrap up the body of the deceased or fill between the body and the coffin, was usually lined or quilted. Suryeeui was a suit sent by close relatives of the deceased or granted by the court. Mostly padded with cotton or quilted, suryeeui was used only for yeomeui. 2) The term of ching was used to count units of po and suits of trousers and jeogori during dressing the deceased for burial. If trousers and jeogori were not joined into a suit, they were not counted as ching. 3) Aekjueumpo, bangryeongsangeui, three-forked trousers and haengjeon for women were all clothes worn around the war. All these clothes were not worn after the war. 4) Several types of po which were discovered in Daejeon included danryeong, simeui, nansam, jikryeong, cheolik, aekjuempo, changeui and jungchimak for men and jangeui for women. Often, jikryeong, cheolrik, aekjueumpo and bangryeongsangeui were used before the war and changeui and jungchimak since then. 5) The git of jeogori had the style of mokpan git before the war, which was changed into that of dangko git through making the rectangular ege of mokpan git rounded in the 17th century. And jeogori became entirely small sized and the baerae line of sleeve became oblique. 6) In funeral rites of Daejon, simeui and nansam both of which were symbols of Confucian scholars, instead of official uniforms, were used as funeral garments. This suggests that funeral rites of Daejeon considerably reflected academic traditions of the Giho school meaning groups of scholars representing the region.

  • This paper examines 'Religion Class' in the scheme of the DDC. The major findings of the study are summerized as follows. 1. The first edition of DDC was published in 1876 in order to classify Amherst College Library collections. In spite of the continuous study and revision of the experts, the frameworks of the DDC systems are still kept unchanged. Only their subdivisions, reflecting those developments in the academic world, are developed and detailed more sophisticatedly. 2. The division of 200 does not function as generalities for all class of religion. Therefore, it is necessary to amend the division of 200 to serve generalities for all the religions of the world. 3. Standard subdivision for the christian religion and for the non-christian religion is different. So, the mnemonic nature has become weakened due to the dual standard subdivisions and the classification number becomes much longer and complicated. Therefore, one standard subdivision for all religions of the world is required. 4. Religion science was organized in late 19 C and developed continuously, but the DDC does not accomodate the religion science as a science. Accodingly, the DDC should be revised recognize religion science as a science not the christian science. 5. The deployment of classification scheme in Dewey's 200 is severely biased. That is to say, 9 division were assigned for christian religion, whereas only 1 division was assigned for non-christian religion. Therefore, an adjustment should be made to allocate subdivisions equally to all religions of the world. 6. General classification order of religion is prehistoric, primitive, ancient, modem and world religion in religion science. But, DDC does not accept this general classification order of religion, sticking to the biased expansion towards christianity. Therefore, DDC must adopt the general classification order of religion in the religion science. 7. Lastly, because of the limitation of decimal notation in DC, DDC does not accomodate new subject equally and classification number becomes longer. Therefore, centesimal expansion is proposed in order to make the classification number short, to enlarge its capacity of inclusion of new subject and to maintain consistency in the scheme.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors influencing college students' career decision. For this purpose, 673 college students in four - year colleges in Seoul, Gyeonggi- do, and Chungcheong - do were surveyed and analyzed. The main results are as follows. First, sexes did not show significant difference between career decision group and career indecision group. Second, logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the effects of variables affecting career decision. Grade, major satisfaction, and career development competencies were variables that had a significant effect on career decision of college students. However, academic achievement, college students' adjustment, and career adaptability were not significant variables. These results suggest that in order to support career decision of college students, it is necessary to increase students majors satisfaction and improve career development capability.

  • Collecting and managing information on all-round activities of students not only helps to improve school life adjustment and satisfaction, but also serves as the basis for preventive student support for academic warnings or dropouts. Therefore, in guiding students, it is necessary to integrate various information of students and provide them to the instructor quickly and accurately. In this study, in the special environment of an organization in which student information is scattered in several systems, a system model is proposed that not only integrates and provides student information to instructors quickly, but also saves cost and effort. And we tested the effectiveness of the proposed system model by developing a simple web page. As a result, it was confirmed that the proposed model provided information necessary for student guidance in an integrated, multifaceted, and instantaneous manner, and that user satisfaction was improved through an improved UI.
