This study was intended to find the use patterns of internet search engines of librarians and to measure the relationship between internet use frequency and the use behavior of internet search engines. The results showed that librarians use Web search engines for academic information retrieval and are satisfied with the search results. The major problems when librarians use search engines were that search engines retrieve many non-relevant documents. As a result of hypotheses test, the relationship between internet frequency and the preference of search engines was not significantly different. On the other hand, the hypotheses that internet frequency affects satisfaction of search results, recognition of importance of search engines, and the need of retraining of librarians for internet information retrieval were shown to be significant.

Cinematographic works are crucial for libraries as a part of their collections. Especially public libraries provide a variety of programs associated with cinematographic works. Copyright law considers the use of cinematographic works as a type of public performance and restricted it under certain conditions such as the released date. In addition, copyright agency challenged libraries to pay fees for cinematographic works released within 6 months. At this point, this study investigated the perception of librarians on cinematographic works and copyright issues. 292 librarians in public and academic libraries answers the questionnaire form May 8th to June 7th, 2013. In result, librarians consider services of video works as a important part of library services. They are also conscious of the exception conditions for copyright law for cinematographic works provided by library services. In addition to emphasizing practicality, as in some academic disciplines, LIS is also interested in the research activities and journal publishing of librarians. Despite the high interest, there are few Korean studies on librarian authors' publishing. This study focuses on analyzing the status of librarians' publishing and finding ways to activate their journal publishing. This study analyzed the papers of the librarian authors published from 2014 to 2018 in Journal of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science and identified the characteristics of librarians who are publishing. As a result, librarians accounted for 15.56% of all authors. However, it is encouraging that the number of librarians' authorship stabilized, and that many librarians are the main authors. Librarians who were energetically publishing were public or school librarians, and academic librarians were slightly behind. There were graduate student librarians who collaborated with the advisor. In order to increase the librarian's publishing, it seemed to be necessary to improve not only the librarian's efforts but also the recognition and assistance of his/her library. Both the librarian and his/her library should be aware of the importance of publishing the journals, and should establish concrete plans such as resilience, compensation, and support. In this way, the librarian's valuable practical experience will be published in research papers and widely shared among researchers and practitioners.

This research has investigated the perceptions of subject specialization services and the opinions of students majoring in library and information science preparing for librarianship, librarians operating in the field, and library directors on the status and ways of nurturing subject specialization for librarians, among others. To this end, based on the results of previous research and the survey questionnaire analysis, we have presented a policy to train subject librarians. First, we have proposed a plan for systematizing the current educational system within the department of library and information science. We have also suggested ways to secure subject expertise based on curriculum management, minor programs, multi-major programs, and interdisciplinary major programs based on the standard curriculum model. Second, we have presented a subject specialization educational system for field librarians, and further suggested details for the development of an educational program that can help build subject expertise and the operation of educational methods as well as the personnel in charge of implementing the educational programs. Third, we have proposed institutionalization of the qualifications of the subject librarian where the qualification requirements have been organized considering academic background, major program, library career, and career experience in the subject specialization service, further suggesting the implementation and maintenance of the system.

This study searched for the status of medical Systematic Review(SR) publications in Korea and elsewhere for last 10 years, closely analyzing SR research papers by co-authors of Korean librarians. Through interviews with Korean librarians participating in SR, the activities, roles, and difficulties of these librarians were identified, and the results of the interviews helped explore new ways to promote collaboration in SR research. The result of the studied showed that the number of domestic and foreign SR studies has recently increased, and the number of cases where Korean librarians participated in SR research being officially credited as a co-author or acknowledgment source was also grow. The SR librarians in the Korean medical libraries were not only search experts, data collectors, and reference writers, but also did various activities such as designing search strategies, SR search records with complete reproducibility, and DB search tutorship. To promote SR support librarians participated in the interview suggested recruiting new librarians, retraining current librarians, and reformation courses in library and information science. As it is expected that the level of information demand of users and expectations for librarians would also increase in near future, SR librarians' activities and contributions seem to offer a guideline for academic library services that the others should pursue.

The purpose of this study is to investigate awareness of librarian's job prospects, and to do this a survey was conducted with 502 college students in 14 Departments of Library and Information Science around Korea and 753 librarians in libraries and related agencies. The study results are as follows. First, satisfaction with educational curriculum was higher in students than librarians. Second, both students and librarians regarded workplace based practical training as employment requirements and also evaluated certifications and academic performance as important requirements. Third, both groups asked that information on employment rates be available in a timely manner, and perceived that the librarian's job prospects were not bright. Therefore, in order to improve employment of librarians, it will be necessary to establish a job information system, reorganize the current educational curriculum into a practice-oriented curriculum, and introduce the national curriculum statements (NCS)-based curriculum.

Teachers, parents and students have regarded teacher librarians as a book keeper who doesn't participate in teaching. Consequently teacher librarianship has not satisfied occupational function and qualities of professional workers and teacher librarians' vocational presence appears to be very frail because of school library policies ignoring teacher librarians appointment, the law and system identifing librarinship with teacher librarianship. But its ultimate cause is Library and Information Science Community's attitude of sideliners that doesn't holding teacher librarians oriented preparation programs for their instructional qualification. Thus it is essential for the members of academic communities to recognize teacher librarians as an educational media specialist and develop various curricula in order to strengthen the occupational status of teacher librarians. Also it requires that teacher librarians improve his/her individual ability with self evaluation and increase activities of their professional institutions.
