Research Trends in the Service Quality of Korean Restaurants - Centering on the Researches in Academic Journals from 2000 to 2008 - (국내 한식당의 서비스 품질과 관련된 연구 논문의 경향 분석 - 2000~2008년 학술지에 수록된 연구를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to study academic tendency in the researches on the service quality of Korean restaurants by analyzing the studies related to the service quality of Korean restaurants. As a result of this study, the studies related to the service quality of Korean restaurants, included in 7 academic journals selected, are totally 26 articles. Among them, there are 14 researches targeting medium-large size Korean restaurants with more than 100 seats. In the methodological aspect, the scales, which were used most frequently in measuring the service quality of Korean restaurants, were indicated to be SERVQUAL in Parasuraman et al.(1988), DINESERV in Stevens et al.(1995) and Brady & Cronin(2001)'s scale. Also, as a result of examining the tendency of researches related to the service quality in Korean restaurants in the contextual aspect, the interaction quality between employees and customers out of customers' perceived service quality was surveyed to have greater influence upon customers' behavioral reaction than the physical quality or technical quality. Consequently, in order to conduct an institutional research through examining the service quality in Korean restaurants, understanding the customers' perceived service quality needs to be implemented preferentially with a systematically verified scale. Moreover, such researches on the service quality of Korean restaurants appear to focus on specific subjects. Thus, in order to escape from this tendency, it is necessary to explore creative research subjects and design diversely and scientifically analytical methods.

Comprehensive Review of Research Publications on Gifted Education in Korea : 2003-2012 (한국 영재교육 연구의 현황 및 성과: 2003-2012)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the future direction of research on gifted education through a literature review of dissertations and research reports, as well as an analysis of the trends and milestones achieved related to gifted education. The period from 2003 to 2012, from which the data for this literature review was collected, marks the ten-year period proposed by the Gifted Education Development Comprehensive Plan II and I. Data was collected through a search of the keyword "gifted" on Academic Naver and on Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS). Results showed 1,696 articles from 182 academic journals, 138 doctoral dissertations, 1,470 masters' dissertations, and 798 research reports from 75 institutions. For analysis, each article was classified by target of study, kind of giftedness, subject of study, and methods used for the study. Results from this literature review demonstrated that from 2003 to 2012, the articles from the 182 academic journals and the doctoral and masters' dissertations used quantitative research to analyze elementary and middle school students gifted in math and science as well as the curriculum and programs of their study. This paper provides recommendations for future research on gifted education within the country.

A Research on the Use of Information Resources of the Humanities Scholars in Korea (인문학자의 정보자원 이용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of information resources of the humanities scholars in Korea and suggest the strategic planning of academic library and information services to serve their needs. To collect data, a mail survey was conducted during the period of November 2007 through January 2008. Out of 799 humanities scholars sampled from 25 universities, 132 responded with the completion rate of 16%. Major findings in this study are as follows: First, the majority of the humanities scholars distribute their time equally to research and education, and conduct independent research. Second, they still largely depend on print resources, including scholarly journals, books, and manuscripts for getting information, while using some online information resource mostly in text such as electronic documents and journals. They expect that the frequency of using such print resources would not decline much, but the use of online resources could definitely increase in the next five years. Some variances in the behavior were observed among the groups of scholars according to their research experiences. It is suggested that academic libraries (1) conduct more active outreach, (2) prioritize between traditional and electronic resources, (3) plan information literacy education for traditional resources.

Study on Research Trends (2001~2020) of the Baekdudaegan Mountains with Big Data Analyses of Academic Journals (학술논문 빅데이터 분석을 활용한 백두대간에 관한 연구동향(2001~2020) 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze domestic research trends related to the Baekdudaegan Mountains in the last two decades. In total, 551 academic papers and keyword data related to the Baekdudaegan Mountains were collected using the "Research and Information Service Section" and analyzed using "big data" analysis programs, such as Textom and UCINET. Papers related to the Baekdudaegan Mountains were published in 177 academic journals, and 229 papers (41.6% of all published papers) were published between 2011 and 2015. According to word frequency data (N-gram analyses), the major research topic over the past 20 years was "species diversity." According to CONCOR analysis results, the main research could be divided into 15 areas, the most important of which was "species diversity," followed by "vegetation restoration and management," and "culture." Ecological research comprised 12 groups with a frequency of 78.8%; humanities and social research comprised 2 groups with a frequency of 15.6%. Overall, our study of research areas and quantitative data analyses provides valuable information that could help establish policy formulation.

Automatic Extraction of References for Research Reports using Deep Learning Language Model (딥러닝 언어 모델을 이용한 연구보고서의 참고문헌 자동추출 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of using deep learning language models to extract references automatically and create a reference database for research reports in an efficient manner. Unlike academic journals, research reports present difficulties in automatically extracting references due to variations in formatting across institutions. In this study, we addressed this issue by introducing the task of separating references from non-reference phrases, in addition to the commonly used metadata extraction task for reference extraction. The study employed datasets that included various types of references, such as those from research reports of a particular institution, academic journals, and a combination of academic journal references and non-reference texts. Two deep learning language models, namely RoBERTa+CRF and ChatGPT, were compared to evaluate their performance in automatic extraction. They were used to extract metadata, categorize data types, and separate original text. The research findings showed that the deep learning language models were highly effective, achieving maximum F1-scores of 95.41% for metadata extraction and 98.91% for categorization of data types and separation of the original text. These results provide valuable insights into the use of deep learning language models and different types of datasets for constructing reference databases for research reports including both reference and non-reference texts.

Nursing Student's Experiences in Team Based Simulation Learning (간호학생의 팀기반 시뮬레이션 학습경험)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nursing students experiences in team based simulation learning. This study was based on a phenomenological research methodology. Methods: Fourteen nursing students participated in this study. The students gave in depth interviews and wrote reflective journals after participating in a team based simulation learning program, which was provided at C University in Gwangju for 8 weeks, 2011. These data were analyzed using Van Kaam's method. Results: 21 sub-themes and 9 themes were elicited from 55 significant statements. They were classified into 3 categories such as : 'First exposed to lessons on how Burden', 'the enjoyment of team based simulation learning', 'expansion of the clinical competence'. Conclusion: Teaching and learning strategy that combines a variety of simulation training to nursing students to develop critical skills to improve their care to give and take advantage of simulation training supplement is advised.

Optimal learning in English through dynamic cooperation between theory and practice (이론과 실제의 상호작용을 통한 효율적인 영어학습)

  • Nowadays in Korea the subject of English education has been rising as one of the essential matters which need to be emphasized, reorganized, and thus refined. From the history of about one century to the current, English education may be compared to an adolescent who should be paid much more attention to grow as an independent adult. Although we recognize that there was much improvement in the past age of English education, a lot of assignments to solve await us. This study aims to suggest a recipe for optimal learning in English classes by linking theory with practice: First, the nation-wide academic associations of English teaching should act more energetically and cooperatively than ever. They need further specialization, dynamic participation, and systematic organization. At the same time the academic journals of their own should be publicized broadly, internationally as well as nationally. Second, there should be close contact and discussion between professors and secondary-school teachers. To achieve better learning in English classes, an effective cycle of equilibrium ought to be maintained by combining theory with practice. For example, language institute in universities/colleges can serve instructional programs such as lectures, colloquiums, and intensive courses for conversation. Third, native speakers of English should be positively utilized. Teachers had better keep close contact with native speakers as frequently as possible if they want to become fluent or at least acceptable speakers in English. Teachers may also use native speakers as aides in their classes.

한국인 학자와 영어 원어민 학자의 논문 영문 초록 비교 분석

  • Most if not all research articles published in journals require the author to write an abstract regardless of academic field. However, abstract writing in English is a highly specialized genre on its own. In this light, the purpose of this study is to investigate differences in journal article abstracts written in English by Korean and native English scholars. 90 research paper abstracts written in English by Korean national scholars, US-educated Korean scholars and native English scholars were compared according to rhetorical organization. A generalized rhetorical scheme was used in analysis which was based on Graetz (1985) and Swales (1990): Background-Purpose-Method-Result-Conclusion. In addition, the use of conjunctions as a cohesive device was analyzed based on the categories proposed by Halliday and Hasan (1976). Analyses of the research paper abstracts showed that the majority of the abstracts included the purpose, method and result components. However, while approximately 70 percent of native English writers used research background in the abstract, only 26 percent of Korean national scholars did so. Regarding the use of conjunctions, Korean-national scholars overused and inappropriately used additive and temporal conjunctions. The US-educated Korean scholars showed similar patterns to the native English speakers. The findings obtained here imply that there is a need to provide academic writing instruction of abstracts to non-native scholars.

Integrated Literature Review of Infection Control of Nursing Care Workers in Long-term Care Facilities (장기요양시설에 근무하는 요양보호사의 감염관리에 관한 통합적 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: This study aims to conduct an integrated literature review of infection control studies conducted by nursing care workers in long-term care facilities in Korea. Methods: Through the domestic search engines RISS and KISS, seven articles were selected by searching for theses and academic journals published in Korea from 2008 to January 2020. Results: In total, six research studies and one intervention study out of seven studies were analyzed. Measurement tools for examining the knowledge and performance of infection-related care workers consisted of skin infection, aspiration pneumonia, urinary tract infection, and hand hygiene. Factors affecting nursing care workers' infection management performance were infection management knowledge, education level, health status, and importance awareness. Conclusion: This study showed it is necessary to develop a tool that can accurately measure nursing care workers' infection management knowledge and performance. In addition, it is necessary to develop an intervention program for nursing care workers' infection control.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide suggestions for the effective management of e-journals in academic libraries. Existing literatures were reviewed, web sites were examined, and informal interviews with librarians were conducted. This study comprehensively discussed various aspects of e-journal management, including 1) user behavior, 2) selection, acquisition, and evaluation, 3) access and search, 4) user education and its promotion, 5) archiving, 6) open access, 7) collection development policy.
