The stability at elevated temperatures of a surface film formed on a graphite electrode in lithium secondary batteries was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrochemical AC impedance spectroscopy (EIS). TEM analysis revealed that the surface film partly dissolved in the electrolyte solution during storage at $60^{\circ}C$, resulting in a decrease in the thickness of the surface film and a change in its morphology to a porous structure. On the other hand, an increase in the impedance of the surface film which is attributable to a change in composition of the surface film was confirmed by EIS analysis during the storage at $60^{\circ}C$. It was also shown that the addition of vinylene carbonate or 1,3-propane sultone or etylene sulfite, even if limited, improves the stability of the surface film at elevated temperatures.
Ti and its alloys show the excellent corrosion resistance to chloride environments, but they show less corrosion resistance in HCl, $H_2SO_4$, NaOH, $H_3PO_4$, and especially HF environments at high temperature and concentration. In this study, we used the commercially pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V alloy, and evaluated the effect of the manufacturing process on the electrochemical properties. We used commercial products of rolled and forged materials, and made additive manufactured materials by DMT (Directed Metal Tooling) method. We annealed each specimen at $760^{\circ}C$ for one hour and then air cooled. We performed anodic polarization test, AC impedance measurement, and Mott-Schottky plot to evaluate the electrochemical properties. Despite of the difference of its microstructure of CP-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V alloys by the manufacturing process, the anodic polarization behavior was similar in 20% sulfuric acid. However, the addition of 0.1% hydrofluoric acid degraded the electrochemical properties. Among three kinds of the manufacturing process, the electrochemical properties of additive manufactured CP-Ti, and Ti-6Al-4V alloys were the lowest. It is noted that the test materials showed a Warburg impedance in HF acid environments.

We have produced electrolyte solution out of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/ EC/EMC/DEC/PC(30/55/10/5 by vol%) as a reference, and at the same time, performed basic physical property test using a single solvent of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/DEC, DMC, EMC and a 2 component electrolyte solution of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/ EC/DEC(1/2 by vo%%) and PC/DEC(1/2 by vol%). Cyclic Voltammetry Analysis showed that, compared to existing carbonate organic solvent, the addition of DEC, DMC and EMC brought the de-decomposition peak of salt anion of PF$\sub$6/$\^$-/ and the solvent at lower oxidization potential of 2.3V, 0.7V and 2.1V(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/\`). In addition, a kinetics current peak, in which intercalation of Li$\^$+/ is proceeded at 750mv, 450mv(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/), was confirmed. These findings suggest that the DEC solvent decomposition occurred at an electric potential lower than that of oxidization of existing carbonate organic solvent. Through the impedance analysis, we checked electric charge transfer resistance(R$\sub$ct/) according to the electric potential of Li$\^$+/ intercalation at 750mv(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/), which was the same as the resistance (R$\sub$f/) and cyclic voltammetry of SEI film that was formed at Reference. By doing so, we found that the significant decrease of polarization resistance(R$\sub$p/) when Reference was played a part in the formation of compact SEI layer at the initial decomposition reaction.

Electricity can be directly generated from organic matter even wastewaters using a microbial fuel cell. To achieve high power in MFCs, finding factors decreasing activation and Ohmic losses is very important. In this study we determined activation loss at the anode and cathode and Ohmic loss using the current interruption technique in a H-type MFC. Activation loss at the cathode was four times higher that that of anode activation loss even if pt-coated carbon (0.5 $mg/cm^2$;10%Pt) was used as the cathode. Ohmic loss determined using current interruption technique (1146 ${\Omega}$) was almost same as the internal resistance (1167 ${\Omega}$) measured using AC impedance. The sum of activation losses at the anode and cathode was the same as the value of activation loss of the cell.

Spinel phase LiF $e_{y}$M $n_{2-y}$$O_4$samples are synthesized by calcining a LiOH.$H_2O$, Mn $O_2$and F $e_2$$O_3$mixture at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h in air. Preparing LiF $e_{y}$M $n_{2-y}$$O_4$showed spinel phase with cubic phase. The ununiform distortion of the crystallite of the spinel LiF $e_{y}$M $n_{2-y}$$O_4$was more stable than that of the pure. The discharge capacity of the cathode for the Li/LiF $e_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$$O_4$cell at the first than that of the pure. The discharge capacity of the cathode for the Li/LiF $e_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$$O_4$cell at the first cycle and at the 70th cycle was about 113 and 90mAh/g, respectively. This cell capacity was retained about 82% of the first cycle after 70th cycle. Impedance profile of this cell was more stable than that pure. The resistance, the capacitance and chemical diffusion coefficients of lithium ion showed approximately 80$\Omega$, 36133.87$\mu$F ; 1.4$\times$10$^{-8}$ c $m^2$$s^{-1}$ , respectively. , respectively.ely.
In this paper, an equivalent circuit reflecting the internal loss of the LLC resonant half bridge converter was proposed and a steady state characteristic equation including the loss factors was derived. Using the results, the frequency characteristics of I/O voltage gain and input impedance were compared with the lossless model In order to verify the proposed model and the derived equation, the main components of the 1kW class LLC resonant half bridge converter were selected under the same conditions and the steady state characteristics such as voltage gain and input impedance were compared. In particular, to compare more closely the steady state error of the two models, we observed the change in switching frequency with respect to the load current, which is considered to be the most important in the actual circuit design stage. As a result, it is confirmed that the error of the operating frequency is significantly improved from the proposed model and the analysis result.
Electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) which are fabricated using carbon based electrodes have been emerging at an alarming rate to fulfill the energy demand in the present day world. Activated charcoal has been accepted as a very suitable candidate for electrodes but its cost is higher than natural graphite. Present study is about fabrication of EDLCs using composite electrodes with activated charcoal and Sri Lankan natural graphite as well as a gel polymer electrolyte which is identified as a suitable substitute for liquid electrolytes. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, Cyclic Voltammetry and Galvanostatic Charge Discharge test were done to evaluate the performance of the fabricated EDLCs. Amount of activated charcoal and natural graphite plays a noticeable role on the capacity. 50 graphite : 40 AC : 10 PVdF showed the optimum single electrode specific capacity value of 15 F/g. Capacity is determined by the cycling rate as well as the potential window within which cycling is being done. Continuous cycling resulted an average single electrode specific capacity variation of 48 F/g - 16 F/g. Capacity fading was higher at the beginning. Later, it dropped noticeably. Initial discharge capacity drop under Galvanostatic Charge Discharge test was slightly fast but reached near stable upon continuous charge discharge process. It can be concluded that initially some agitation is required to reach the maturity. However, the results can be considered as encouraging to initiate studies on EDLCs using Sri Lankan natural graphite.
Lithium p-[Methoxyoligo(ethyleneoxy)] benzenesulfonates (LiEOnBS) with different repeating unit of ethylene oxide were synthesized and were used for preparing gel-polymer electrolytes. The conductivities and lithium ion transference number were measured as a function of Li-salt concentration and repeating unit of ethylene oxide of the LiEOnBS. The maximum conductivity of the resulting gel-polymer electrolyte was found to be 4.89${\times}$10$\^$-4/ S/cm (LiEO7.3BS, 0.5 M) at 30$^{\circ}C$. The lithium ion transference number (t$\sub$Li$\sub$+//) measurement were performed by means of the combination do polarization and ac impedance methods in gel-polymer electrolytes. Lithium ion transference number was measured to be in the range of 0.75∼0.92 for the LiEOnBS containing gel-polymer electrolytes. The maximum t$\sub$Li$\sub$+// was obtained to be 0.92 for the 0.1 M LiEOnBS containing polymer electrolytes. The synthesized LiEOnBS showed single ion transport like characteristics when n was large than 3.

Noise in homogeneous extrinsic semiconductor samples is calculated due to distributed diffusion noise sources. As the length of the device shrinks at a fixed bias voltage, the ac-wise short-circuit noise current shows excess noise as well as thermal noise spectra. This excess noise behaves like a full shot noise when the channel length becomes very small compared with the extrinsic Debye length. For the first time, the analytic formula of the excess noise in extrinsic semiconductors from velocity-fluctuation noise sources is given for finite frequencies. This formula shows the interplay between transit time, dielectric relaxation time, and velocity relaxation time in determining the terminal noise current as well as the carrier density fluctuation. As frequency increases, the power spectral density of the excess noise rolls off. This formula sheds light on noise in nanoscale MOSFETs where quasi-ballistic transport plays an important role in carrier transport and noise.
20mol% Gd-doped CeO2 ultrafine powders as a promising electrolyte for the low temperature solid ox-ide fuel cells were synthesized with particle sizes of 15-20 nm using glycine nitrate process(GNP) fol-lowed by sintering their pellets at 150$0^{\circ}C$ for various times in air and then the electrical properties of the sintered pellets were investigated. The sintering behaviors and electrical properties for the sintered 20 sintered mol% Gd-doped CeO2 pellets were analyzed using dilatometer and SEM and AC two-terminal impedance technique respectively. As the heating temperature increased the synthesized powder had the sintering behaviors to show the start of the significant shrink at temperature of about $700^{\circ}C$ and to show the end of the shrink at the temperature of about 147$0^{\circ}C$. When the pellets were sintered with the vaious times at 150$0^{\circ}C$ the temperatuer which the shrink had been already completed the grain sizes in the sintered 20 mol% Gd-doped GeO2 pellets increased with the increase of the sintering time but their electrical resis-tivities showed the minimum value at the sintering time of 10h. It is due that the pellet sintered for 10h had the minimum activation energy fior the electtrical conduction. Thus it is thought that the decrease of the activation energy with the increase of the sintering time to 10h is induced by the enhanced mi-crostructure like the decrease of pore amount and the grain growth and its increase with the sintering times more than 10h is induced by the increase of the amounts of the impurities such as Mg. Al and Si from the sintering atmosphere.
