Purpose: This study was designed to examine the relationship between nurses' characteristics and perception of seriousness of elder abuse. Method: A cross-sectional survey design was used to describe the perception of elder abuse by 301 nurses. Data were collected by convenience sampling. The research instruments utilized in this study were 12 scenarios adapted by Yoo & Kim from the 13 senarios to measure the perception of elder abuse developed by Moon and Williams (1993), a seven item questionnaires related to elder abuse law, and a Semantic Differential Scaling to measure attitudes toward elderly people. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. Results: The mean score for perceptions of elder abuse was 3.07. Among the types of abuse, sexual abuse was perceived as the most severe type of abuse followed by physical abuse, neglect, financial abuse, and emotional abuse in that order. Education, job position, experience of gerontological nursing course, and education on elder abuse, exposure to elder abuse information, and attitudes toward elders were significantly related to the perception of seriousness on elder abuse. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that provision of elder abuse education is needed for nurses, to enable them to identify elder abuse and address their legal and professional responsibilities.

The pathway of elder abuse affecting somatization was researched by neglect, emotional abuse, and aggressive coping as the variables that directly affected somatization. Conclusion: We should develop a systematized intervention program so that elders can learn positive coping in their abuse circumstance.
The purposes of this study were to find the general trends of individuals, marital relation, migrated-cultural variables and abuse, and to analyze the effects of the individual, marital relation, and migrated-cultural variables on the abuse. The subjects were 174 immigrant women. The data was analyzed with frequency, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression by SPSS. The major findings were as follows; Physical abuse amongst immigrant women was significantly different according to residence and income factors, psychological abuse was dependent on residence and native country, sexual abuse was dependent on education level, and total abuse was dependent on residence and native country. The level of abuse (range 1-4) was 2.07, Psychological abuse was the highest with 2.23, physical abuse was next with 1.92 and sexual abuse was 1.78. All the abuse types were influenced by the husband's alcohol behavior, communication efficiency, marital conflict, and knowledge of Korean culture. In conclusion, it is important to protect immigrant women who have been abused. So understanding, reasonable coping, prevention programs and counseling of abuse victims were provided to immigrant women.
Objective: This study aims to examine the factors associated with teacher intention to report child abuse in child care centers. Methods: Data were collected from teachers at child care centers in the Jeonbuk region, using a self-administered questionnaire. In this study, 186 completed questionnaires were used to analyze the data. Results: The respondents reported their intention to report child abuse as follows: physical abuse(49.5%), emotional abuse(16.1%), sexual abuse(12.9%), and neglect(15.6%). The multiple hierarchical regression analyses revealed that participation at child abuse prevention training programs and awareness of reporting procedures were significantly associated with teacher intention to report child abuse at child care centers in Model 2. Also, attitudes towards reporting child abuse were significantly associated with teacher intention to report child abuse in Model 3. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests evaluating chid abuse prevention training programs more accurately because the respondents who did not participate in the programs showed statistically significant higher mean scores of intention to report child abuse than who participated(1.83 vs .85). In addition, educational programs about child abuse for teachers in child care centers need to focus on changes in attitudes towards reporting child abuse, which in turn can change behavior.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the abuse experience from husbands among women who killed their husbands and the husbands' characteristics, and the women's own characteristics consisting of the emotional climate in the family of origin, self-esteem and social support. The major findings were as follow. First, the subjects were divided into two groups according to the level of wife abuse experience: non-abuse group and abuse group. Second, in terms of the husbands' characteristics which consisted of economic capacity and alcohol problem, there were statistically significant group differences between non-abuse and abuse groups. Third, the women in the abuse group, compared to those in the non-abuse group, had a tendency to perceive that they received maltreatment, physical punishment, and indifference and rejection from their family of origin. However, there was no significant difference between the non-abuse and abuse groups in emotional support the women received from their family. Fourth, as for the women's characteristics consisting of self-esteem and social support, the women of both groups showed no significant difference in self-esteem, while the women in the abuse group perceived that they received a level of social support relatively lower than those in the non-abuse group.
Recently, child abuse is mentioned in revised Child Welfare Law, on the other hand, elder abuse is not yet recognized as a social problem and little addressed in the field of social service. Like this, elder abuse has gotten less public and professional attention than other areas within the family abuse field. Despite the lack of attention to elder abuse, the number of elder abuse reports and incidents is likely to increase in the future. Based on the recognition that current effort and approach to elder abuse is not appropriate, this study attemped to briefly review laws and programs addressing elder abuse in the United States which have shaped in other contries. In the United States where various laws and programs that address elder abuse exit, there are incresing arguments that addressing elder abuse in the area of social service rather than in the criminal justice systems is more desirable. Because the most common form of elder abuse is not physical abuse but neglect including self-neglect. Self-neglect and neglect caused by caregivers' burden can not be addressed through criminal justice systems appropriately. From these experiences of the United States, the implications for policy, programs, and practice aimed at intervening elder abuse were discussed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting clinical nurses' attitude toward reporting child abuse. Methods: The participants in this study were 200 clinical nurses. Data were collected as structured self-report questionnaires through the online portal site for nurses from November 24 to December 7, 2021. The questionnaires included general characteristics, knowledge of child abuse reporting, perception of child abuse, moral sensitivity, and attitude toward reporting child abuse. The SPSS/WIN 25.0 program was used for data analysis which included descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression. Results: As knowledge of child abuse reporting, perception of child abuse and moral sensitivity were increased, the attitude toward reporting child abuse was significantly increased. Multiple regression analysis showed that knowledge of child abuse reporting (β=.32) and perception of child abuse (β=.21) were significant influencing factors of attitude toward reporting child abuse. Conclusion: These findings implied that knowledge of child abuse reporting and perception of child abuse would be related to attitudes toward reporting child abuse among clinical nurses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop education programs and public policies to improve the knowledge and perception of child abuse reporting among clinical nurses so that attitudes toward reporting child abuse can be improved.
