The pharmacokinetics of prunasin after oral administration of amygdalin or a decoction of peach seeds was determined and compared in rats. A $C_{18}$ column was used for separation at a column temperature of $25^{\circ}C$. The mobile phase consisted of 20% aqueous acetonitrile, and the flow rate was 0.5 mL/min. After oral administration of a decoction of peach seeds, prunasin was absorbed rapidly, reaching a maximum plasma concentration ($C_{max}$) of 62.1 mg/L within 45 min. After oral administration of amygdalin, the absorption of prunasin was delayed. The $C_{max}$ of prunasin was 42.9 mg/L and was reached at 60 min. Values for the pharmacokinetic parameters of prunasin, including $T_{max}$, $C_{max}$, AUC, $T_{1/2}$, CL/F, and V1/F, were significantly different for the oral administration of amygdalin compared with that of a decoction of peach seeds.
In order to remove $CO_2$ from the DME plant process, we investigated the composite membrane with rubbery polymers as the separation layer and its separation performance of $CO_2$ and $H_2$. Hollow fiber membranes for supporting layer were prepared by solution spinning method. In case of using PDMS as a separation layer, the composite membranes showed the permeation rates of $CO_2$ were over 300 GPU and minimum $CO_2/H_2$ selectivitties were 4.3 and in case of using PEBAX as a separation layer, the composite membranes showed the permeation rates of $CO_2$ were over 120 GPU and minimum $CO_2/H_2$ selectivities were 5.

$CuIn_{1-x}-GaxSe_2$ based materials with direct bandgap and high absorption coefficient are promising materials for high efficiency hetero-junction solar cells. CIGS champion cell efficiency(19.9%, AM1.5G) is very close to polycrystalline silicon(20.3%, AM1.5G). A reduction in the price of CIGS module is required for competing with well matured silicon technology. Price reduction can be achieved by decreasing the manufacturing cost and by increasing module efficiency. Manufacturing cost is mostly dominated by capital cost. Device properties of CIGS are strongly dependent on doping, defect chemistry and structure which in turn are dependent on growth conditions. The complex chemistry of CIGS is not fully understood to optimize and scale processes. Control of the absorber grain size, structural quality, texture, composition profile in the growth direction is important to achieving reliable device performance. In the present work, CIS nanoparticles were prepared by a simple wet chemical synthesis method and their structural and optical properties were investigated. XRD patterns of as-grown nanopowders indicate CIS(Cubic), $CuSe_2$(orthorhombic) and excess selenium. Further, as-grown and annealed nanopowders were characterized by HRTEM and ICP-OES. Grain growth of the nanopowders was followed as a function of temperature using HT-XRD with overpressure of selenium. It was found that significant grain growth occurred between $300-400^{\circ}C$ accompanied by formation of ${\beta}-Cu_{2-x}Se$ at high temperature($500^{\circ}C$) consistent with Cu-Se phase diagram. The result suggests that grain growth follows VLS mechanism which would be very useful for low temperature, high quality and economic processing of CIGS based solar cells.

A series of Zr,S co-doped $TiO_2$ were synthesized by a modified sol-gel method and characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. The presence of sulfur caused a red-shift in the absorption band of $TiO_2$. Co-doping of sulfur and zirconium (Zr-$TiO_2$-S) improves the surface properties such as surface area, pore volume, and pore diameter and also enhances the thermal stability of the anatase phase. The Zr-$TiO_2$-S systems are very effective visible-light active catalysts for the degradation of toluene. All reactions follow pseudo firstorder kinetics with the decomposition rate reaching as high as 77% within 4 h. The catalytic activity decreases in the following order: Zr-$TiO_2$-S >$TiO_2$-S >Zr-$TiO_2$>$TiO_2$$\approx$ P-25, demonstrating the synergic effect of codoping with zirconium and sulfur. When the comparison is made within the series of Zr-$TiO_2$-S, the catalytic performance is found to be a function of Zr-contents as follows: 3 wt % Zr-TiO2-S >0.5 wt % Zr-$TiO_2$-S> 5 wt % Zr-$TiO_2$-S >1 wt % Zr-$TiO_2$-S. Higher calcination temperature decreases the reactivity of Zr-$TiO_2$-S.

A series of fluorene-carbazole copolymers containing the pendant phosphor chromophore $Ir(absn)_2(acac)$ (absn: 2-(1-naphthyl)benzothiazole; acac: acetylacetone) were designed and synthesized via Yamamoto coupling. In the film state, these copolymers exhibited absorption and emission peaks at approximately 389 and 426 nm, respectively, which originated from the fluorene backbone. However, in electroluminescent (EL) devices, a significantly red-shifted emission at approximately 611 nm was observed, which was attributed to the pendant iridium(III) complex. Using these copolymers as a single emission layer, polymer light-emitting devices with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer:DNTPD/TmPyPb/LiF/Al configurations exhibited a saturated red emission at 611 nm. The attached iridium(III) complex had a significant effect on the EL performance. A maximum luminous efficiency of 0.85 cd/A, maximum external quantum efficiency of 0.77, maximum power efficiency of 0.48 lm/W, and maximum luminance of 883 $cd/m^2$ were achieved from a device fabricated with the copolymer containing the iridium(III) complex in a 2% molar ratio.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of protein and energy on goats fed oil palm fronds (OPF) as roughages. Twenty-four male Saanen goats aged between 7 and 8 months and weighing $23.4{\pm}1.6kg$ were used in a $2{\times}3$ factorial design. Factors were three levels of urea (3%, 4% or 5%) and two levels of energy (low energy (LE) or high energy (HE)). On average, all parameters measured, including dry matter intake (DMI), nutrient digestibility, digestible nutrient intakes, ruminal ammonia-N ($NH_3$-N), ruminal total volatile fatty acid (total VFA) and individual VFA concentrations (mM/L), microbial N supply, P/E ratio and N retention were higher for HE compared to LE diets. Significant (p<0.05) interactions were found between levels of urea and energy for nonstructural carbohydrate (NSC) and energy (DE) digestibilities, ruminal $NH_3$-N and total VFA concentrations. HE diets had higher N absorption and retention than LE diets. Interactions between urea and energy for plasma urea nitrogen (PUN), heat production (HP), and urine and faeces N excretion were significantly lower (p<0.05) for the HE diets than those recorded for the LE diets. The results indicated that supplementation of energy enhanced utilization of urea and resulted in higher animal performance as a consequence of improved ruminal fermentation, microbial yield and N balance. However, the optimal level of urea supplementation remained at 3% in the HE diet.

In the study, energy flow analysis is performed to predict the performance of silencers. To date, deterministic approaches such as finite element method have been widely used for silencer analysis. However, they have limitations in analyzing large structures and mid-high frequency ranges due to unreasonable computational costs and errors. However, silencers used for ships and off-shore plants are much larger than those used in other engineering fields. Hence, energy governing equation, which is significantly efficient for systems with high modal density, is solved for silencers in ships and off-shore plants. The silencer is divided into two different acoustic media, air and absorption materials. The discontinuity of energy density at interfaces is solved via hypersingular integrals for the 3-D modified Helmholtz equation to analyze multi-domain problems with the energy flow boundary element method. The method is verified by comparing the measurements and analysis results for ship silencers over mid-high frequency ranges. The comparisons confirm good agreement between the measurement and analysis results. We confirm that the applied analysis method is useful for large silencers in mid-high frequency ranges. With the proven procedures, energy flow analysis can be performed for various types of silencer used in ships and off-shore plants in the first stage of the design.

A high-performing all-transparent photodetector was created by configuring a $MoO_x$/NiO/ZnO/ITO structure on a glass substrate. The ITO bottom layer was applied as a back contact. To achieve the transparent p/n junction, p-type NiO was coated on the n-type ZnO layer. Reactive sputtering was used to spontaneously form the ZnO or NiO layer. In order to improve the transparent photodetector performance, the functional $MoO_x$ window layer was used. Optically, the $MoO_x$ window provided a refractive index layer (n=1.39) lower than that of NiO (n=2), increasing the absorption of the incident light wavelengths (${\lambda}s$). Moreover, the $MoO_x$ window can provide a lower sheet resistance to improve the carrier collection for the photoresponses. The $MoO_x$/NiO/ZnO/ITO device showed significantly better photoresponses of 877.05 (at ${\lambda}$=460nm), 87.30 (${\lambda}$=520 nm), and 30.38 (${\lambda}$=620 nm), compared to 197.28 (${\lambda}$=460 nm), 51.74 (${\lambda}$=520 nm) and 25.30 (${\lambda}$=620 nm) of the NiO/ZnO/ITO device. We demonstrated the high-performing transparent photodetector by using the multifunctional $MoO_x$ window layer.

A nanostructure composite is a highly suitable substance for photoacoustic ultrasound generation. This allows an input laser beam (typically, nanosecond pulse duration) to be efficiently converted to an ultrasonic output with tens-of-MHz frequency. This type of energy converter has been demonstrated by using a carbon nanotube (CNT)-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite film that exhibit high optical absorption, rapid heat transition, and mechanical durability, all of which are necessary properties for high-amplitude ultrasound generation. In order to develop the CNT-PDMS composite film, a high-temperature chemical vapor deposition (HTCVD) method has been commonly used so far to grow CNT and then produce a CNT-PDMS composite structure. Here, instead of the complex HTCVD, we use a mixed solution of hydrophobic multi-walled CNT and dimethylformamid (DMF) and fabricate a solution-processed CNT-PDMS composite film over a spherically concave substrate, i.e. a focal energy converter. As the solution process can be applied over a large area, we could easily fabricate the focal transmitter that focuses the photoacoustic output at the moment of generation from the CNT-PDMS composite layer. With this method, we developed photoacoustic energy converters with a large diameter (>25 mm) and a long focal length (several cm). The lens performance was characterized in terms of output pressure amplitude for an incident pulsed laser energy and focal spot dimension in both lateral and axial. Due to the long focal length, we expect that the new lens can be applied for long-range ultrasonic treatment, e.g. biomedical therapy.
