The absorption of water into an anti-corrosive organic coating, such as alkyd and urethane resin coating, was investigated, using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). Anticorrosive properties of the coatings were also measured, by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The overall absorption of water in the coating is determined by the chemical nature of resin, and decreases with increasing thickness. The enhancement of anti-corrosive performance, through increase of coating thickness, was more remarkable in the case of the coating that hadlower equilibrium water absorption. The absorption kinetics curves were Fickian in nature. The EIS analysis confirmed that the resin, having lower equilibrium water absorption, shows higher anti-corrosive performan.
Because of excellent electrical properties, epoxy resin is widely used in packaging and casting power equipment. Moisture and temperature in the environment are inclined to seriously affect the insulation tolerance of epoxy resin. This work focuses on the aging characteristics of epoxy resin in hygrothermal environment. Scanning electron microscopy images show that there are micro-crack, micro-slit and holes inside aged samples. The moisture absorption process undergoes three equilibrium stages and it does not follow the Fick's second law. Observing the change of hydrogen bonds in the infrared spectra of the dried samples, it is found that chemically moisture absorption immerges when the physical moisture absorption entered the third equilibrium stage. By Debye equation to fit the imaginary part of the dielectric constant, it is concluded that the uniformity of water molecule has a great influence on the electrical conductivity loss. Furthermore, the polarization loss can be more easily affected by water molecules than small free molecules. After the aged samples being dried, their real and imaginary part of the dielectric constant descend, but their original electrical properties cannot completely restored. After chemical moisture absorption appears inside the material, the residual space charges increase significantly and the charge dissipation rate slow down obviously.
In this work, we summarize the calculation processes of obtaining a scattering factor using with the equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS), with moderately weak coupling (MWC) interaction, and obtain the line-shape formula of an electron-deformation phonon interacting system interested in the confinement of electrons by squarwell confinement potentials in quantum two dimensional system.. Through the numerical analysis, we analysis the magnetic dependence of absorption power, P(B) in several temperature and frequency difference dependence of absorption power $P({\Delta}{\omega})$, in several external field, where ${\Delta}{\omega}={\omega}-{\omega}_0$ and ${\omega}({\omega}_0)$ is the angular frequency (the cyclotron resonance frequency). The result of equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS) in SER-MWC explains the properties of quantum transition quite well.
Based on the measurement data of the particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than or equal to a nominal 10 ${\mu}m$ (PM10) by the ${\beta}$-ray absorption method (BAM) equipped with an inlet heater and the gravimetric method (GMM) at two coastal sites in Korea, the optimal inlet heater temperature was estimated. By using a gas/particle equilibrium model, Simulating Composition of Atmospheric Particles at Equilibrium 2 (SCAPE2), water content in aerosols was estimated with varying temperature to find the optimal temperature increase to make the PM10 concentration by BAM comparable to that by GMM. It was estimated that the heated air temperature inside the BAM should be increased up to $35{\sim}45^{\circ}C$ at both sites. At this temperature range, evaporation of volatile aerosol components was minor. Similar ($30{\sim}50^{\circ}C$) temperature range was also obtained from the calculation based on the absolute humidity which changed with ambient absolute humidity and chemical composition of hygroscopic species.
Within recent years attention has been focused on the method of hydrogen storage using metal hydride reactor due to its high energy density, durability, safety and low operating pressure. In this paper, a numerical study is carried out to investigate the coupled heat and mass transfer process for absorption in a cylindrical metal hydride hydrogen storage reactor using a newly developed model. The simulation results demonstrate the evolution of temperature, equilibrium pressure, H/M atomic ratio and velocity distribution as time goes by. Initially, hydrogen is absorbed earlier from near the wall which sets the cooling boundary condition owing to that absorption process is exothermic reaction. Temperature increases rapidly in entire region at the beginning stage due to the initial low temperature and enough metal surface for hydrogen absorption. As time goes by, temperature decreases slowly from the wall region due to the better heat removal. Equilibrium pressure distribution appears similarly with temperature distribution for reasons of the function of temperature. This work provides a detailed insight into the mechanism and corresponding physicochemical phenomena in the reactor during the hydrogen absorption process.
The aim of this work was to reveal the effect of butanoic acid in its dissociated form and undissociated form as a guest molecule on the kinetic parameters in an inclusion reaction with ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin (${\beta}$-CD). Ultrasonic absorption measurements in the frequency range from 0.2 to 45 MHz were carried out for ${\beta}$-CD solutions with butanoic acid at $25^{\circ}C$ by ultrasonic relaxation method. The rate and the equilibrium constants were obtained from the guest concentration dependence of the relaxation frequency, and the standard volume change of the complexation reaction were obtained from the maximum absorption per wavelength. A single relaxational absorption was observed, and the cause of the relaxation was attributed to a perturbation of the chemical equilibrium associated with a complexation reaction between ${\beta}$-CD and butanoic acid. These results were compared with those in solutions containing both ${\beta}$-CD and different guest molecules. It was found that the hydrophobicity of guest molecules played an important role in the formation of the inclusion complex and also that the charge on the carboxylic group had a considerable effect on the kinetic characteristics of the complexation reaction.
Increase of $CO_2$ by using fossil fuels makes mainly global warming and the international efforts to reduce the $CO_2$ emission is being promoted. Absorption process using aqueous alkanolamine solution to remove acid components in the mixed gases has been used commercially. This method was used to remove $CO_2$ in the flue gas in recent years. $CO_2$ Absorption characteristics of several aqueous alkanolamine solutions such as MEA, DEA and AMP was studied by measuring vapor-liquid-equilibrium(VLE) and absorption velocity in this study. VLE measuring equipment, shell and reactor type, was used to acquire VLE data, equilibrium $CO_2$ pressure(${P_{CO_2}}^*$) and time at each pulse gas input. We also acquired the $CO_2$ absorption velocity by measuring the time to arrive the VLE at $40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ and first gas input. The $CO_2$ absorption capacity of MEA 10wt% solution was higher than two alkanolamine solutions at $40^{\circ}C$ and the equilibrium $CO_2$ loading was 0.5. Absorption capacity was excellent as follows; AMP>DEA>MEA. But absorption velocity was fast as follows; MEA>AMP>DEA. Though good absorbent was considered by many variables, absorption velocity and capacity was more important factor.
Climate change lead to environmental pollution caused by the radical economic growth and development of industry. The amount of damage from abnormal climate is increasing rapidly for this reason in Korea. In particular, the cities is a lot of carbon emission quantity from the radical growth. Thus the government present "low carbon green growth" for eco-friendly city planning. As one of the important factors effecting climate change, active researches on land use change is performed. In this study, we knew land use change of each scenarios using land use equilibrium model which is kind of predictive model of land use in Japan. First, we selected study area to Jeju lsland. For this study, indicators for input data were selected and spatial data for input data were established using GIS program. Second, we established future scenarios based in 2040s. There are 2 future scenarios: dispersion scenario, compact scenario. Third, we compared with residential area of current and residential area for future scenarios. Results showed that residential area of the difference between current and dispersion scenario were 1,230 ha and residential area of the difference between current and compact scenario were 1,515 ha. Finally, for comparing carbon dioxide absorption volume between dispersion scenarios and compact scenarios, we calculated carbon dioxide absorption volume according to residential area decreased of each future scenarios. Results showed that carbon dioxide absorption volume in dispersion scenario was 477,878 ton and carbon dioxide absorption volume in compact scenario was 588,606 ton. Therefore, the study showed that land use equilibrium model is expected to put to use for future enhancement in creating data for climate change stabilization. And it is also expected to be utilized for city planning research in Korea.

In this study, as one of the carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) adsorbents the aqueous potassium carbonate ($K_2CO_3$)/promoter mixtures were investigated. Equilibrium partial pressure ($P_{CO_2}^*$) and pressure change were measured by using VLE (Vapor-liquid equilibrium) equipment in the mixture solution at 60 and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. Absorption capacity was estimated in the semi-batch absorption apparatus at 40, 60 and $80^{\circ}C$. We proposed to use homopiperazine (homoPZ), cyclic diamine compound as a promoter of $K_2CO_3$ solution, to prevent crystalline formation and increase absorption capacity of aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solution. The absorption capacity of $K_2CO_3$/homoPZ was compared with MEA, $K_2CO_3$ and $K_2CO_3$/piperazine (PZ). Based on the results, we found that the mixture solution containing homoPZ had lower equilibrium partial pressure than that of $K_2CO_3$ solution and the absorption rate was approximately 0.375-times faster at $60^{\circ}C$, 0.343-times faster at $80^{\circ}C$ than that of aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solution without homoPZ. $K_2CO_3$/homoPZ solution showed excellent CO2 loading capacity compared with MEA solution at $60^{\circ}C$.

We report the catalytic effects of metal oxides on the $CO_2$ absorption rate in an aqueous potassium salt of ${\text\tiny{L}}-lysine-HCl$ using the vapor liquid equilibrium method. The best $CO_2$ absorption rate obtained through testing metal oxides in a highly concentrated potassium salt of amino acids (2.0 M) was identified using CuO. The recyclability of the metal oxides was tested over three cycles. The catalyst CuO was found to enhance the absorption rate of $CO_2$ by 61%. A possible mechanism was proposed based on NMR spectroscopy studies. Further, the effect of change in liquid absorbent viscosity on $CO_2$ absorption is discussed.
