A study on performance of the sound absorbing noise barrier is presented. Noise barrier of sound absorbing type is composed of the front panel, sound absorbing material, and back panel. For allowing sound path, front panel is usually perforated. The performance of the noise barrier is governed by the opening ratio of the perforated panel, sound absorption coefficient of the sound absorbing material. In this study, the effects of the opening ratio, diameter of the hole, thickness of the sound absorbing material are investigated. It is found that the thickness of the sound absorbing material must be at least 50 mm to ensure the required minimum NRC value 0.70, and the opening ratio is greater than 0.2. It is shown that the thickness of the back panel is crucial in providing required STL (Sound Transmission Loss) value. The performance of the developed noise barrier is measured, where its sound absorbing coefficient and sound transmission loss satisfy the criteria.
The foam concrete was fabricated by adding the foaming agent which composite ordinary Portland cement with plant and animal protein into cement paste, and the electromagnetic wave absorption properties were studied for the first time as well. The studies showed that the electromagnetic waves can be absorbed by multiple reflections and scattering within the porous material. Thickness and filling ratio have a great influence on the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties in 2-18 GHz of the foam concrete, the greater the thickness, the better the performance of absorption; filling ratio was about 52 vol.%, the absorbing properties achieved the best.

The purpose of this study is to derive the optimum water absorbing curing time. It was found that the cement paste compressive strength was increased with the water absorbing ratio up to 40%, but the compressive strength was slightly lower when the catch level was over 50%. It is considered that the superfluous water did not react and remained in the inside of the specimen, causing microcracks in the inside due to the high temperature curing, resulting in a decrease in strength. Therefore, it is considered that the optimum catcher curing time for improving the strength through catcher curing is when the catcher reaches 40%.

In this paper an analytical study is carried out to improve the capacity of absorbing boundary using dashpot, one of the most widely used absorbing boundaries in FEM. Using harmonic plane wave equation, absorbing boundary condition is modified to maximize its capacity according to the incident angle. Validity of the modified absorbing boundary conditions is investigated by adopting the solution of Miller-Pursey which is the solution for the wave propagation in semi-infinite elastic media, and the absorption ratio is calculated according to various Poisson's ratios.
Mechanical systems with rubber parts have been used widely in industry fields. The evaluation of the physical characteristics of rubber is important in rubber application. Rubber material is useful to machine component for excellent shock absorbing characteristics. The impact characteristics of rubber were examined by experimental and finite element method. The impact test was conducted with a free-drop type impact tester. The ABAQUS/Explicit was used for finite element analysis. The effects of thickness and diameter of the cylindrical rubber structures were investigated. The impact absorbing ratio of the rubber material was studied order to compare the peak reaction force of the specimen which only contained aluminum against the specimen with the inserted rubber part.

This study is put a focus on the identification of sound characteristics according to the interior configuration of sound absorption material and air gap. Noise barrier is general consists of front perforated panel, air layer, sound absorption material, air gap and back plate. Noise barrier is required to the NRC value of 0.7. The absorbing performance of the noise barrier relies on the opening ratio of the perforated panel and the efficiency of the absorbing material. This study has observed the effect of opening ratio and hole size, the increase of sound absorbing performance by the configurations of sound absorption material and air gap. New designed noise barrier is achieved the acoustical performance of 0.87 the measurement in a reveration room.

In this study, the characteristics of compressive strength of ultra high strength concrete supplied with moisture from outside by vacuum water absorbing curing method were investigated. Specimens were prepared by replacing the binder(Silifa fume and GGBS) by 25 wt% with respect to the weight of cement at W/B 0.16. Each specimen was subjected to water Vacuum absorbing curing time 0 min, 30 min, 60 min, 90 min and 120 minutes immediately after the demolding. Curing was performed at $20^{\circ}C$ Air-dry curing, $90^{\circ}C$ steam curing, $90^{\circ}C$ steam curing and $180^{\circ}C$ autoclave curing. Experimental results showed that water absorbing degree increased with increasing water absorbing curing time, and BS25 sample had higher water absorbing degree than SF25 sample at same time. Compressive strength tended to increase up to about 40% in water absorbing degree, but compressive strength decreased again in water absorbing more than 40%.

1. When the frame of the experimental apparatus was directly fixed on the platform, result from the spectrum density analysis showed that the generated vibration frequecy of the system was nearly-same as the system's own characteristic vibration frequency, 80Hz, in the case of the forcing vibration frequency was 7.5 to 22.5Hz. The reduction ratio of acceleration by balanced type model compare to non-balanced type one was 26.66 percent. 2. When the frame of experimental apparatus was fixed on the platform with putting a shock absorbing rubber between the frame and the platform, the generated vibration frequency of the system was same as forcing vibration frequency. When either frequency or the amplitude of the forcing vibration was increased, the acceleration ratio was increased too. The average reduction ratio was resulted 44.77 per cent. It was concluded that this method of acceleration measurement(the method using a shock absorbing rubber) was a reaonable method, because actual machine will work under such condition. As the vibration frequency and aptitude were increased, the absolute magnitude of acceleration was increased. 3. unbalanced rotating parts, and unbalanced moment of inertia of links were supposed to be causing factors of residual vibration in spite of using the balanced type oscillating mole drainer. This fact suggested that the attachment of the counter weight on the rotating parts which satisfy the condition mw$.$rw=m0e, was necessary. And also, it was expected that the shock absorbing effect could be improved by putting the shock absorbing materials between the moving parts and their supports.

As the demands of environment protection increases, the pulp mold container is developed to substitute for EPS (expanded polystyrene) as a shock absorbing packaging material. The water-absorbing ratio and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and compressive strength of pulp mold are important factors to evaluate its shock absorbing characteristics. Influences of mixing ratios of ONP (old newspaper) and OCC (old corrugated container) on physical properties of pulp mold were investigated at various conditions of temperature and relative humidity. The optimum mixing ratio of ONP and OCC was also searched based on physical properties. The results showed that when relative humidity was increased from 60% to 90%, the water absorption ratio of pulp mold increased significantly, tensile strength decreased 20$\sim$30%, and compressive strength decreased 10$\sim$20%. In addition, the optimum mixing ratio of ONP and OCC was found to be 50%:50%.

This study has been analyzed the sound performance of the noise barriers with respect to the configuration of the front perforated panel geometries and the filled absorption materials. Noise barriers' acoustic performance should be required to meet 0.7 of NRC value at least. The global absorbing performance of the barriers have been investigated by changing the opening ratio of the front perforated panel and the absorbing characteristics of the absorbing material using two microphone method. Therefore, It it possible to obtain to increase acoustic performance of the specific frequency ranges by designing the perforate rates of the front panel and absorbing characteristics of the absorbing materials inside, as well. This study try to find out the possibilities of applying the absorbing noise barrier to railway usage.
