AZ31 Mg 합금의 고온 성형 시 미세조직 예측 (Prediction of Microstructure during Hot-working of AZ31 Mg Alloy)

  • In this study, optimum processing condition of rolled AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated by utilizing processing map and constitutive equation considering microstructure evolution(dynamic recrystallization) occurring during hot-working. A series of mechanical tests were conducted at various temperatures and strain rates to construct a processing map and to formulate the recrystallization kinetics in terms of grain size. Dynamic recrystallization(DRX) was observed to occur at a domain of $250^{\circ}C$ and 1/s(maximum dissipation-efficiency region). The effect of DRX kinetics on microstructure evolution was implemented in a commercial FEM code followed by remapping of the state variables. The volume fraction and grain size of deformed part were predicted using a modified FEM code and were compared with those of actual hot forged part. A good agreement was observed between the experimented results and predicted ones.

  • Due to their low density, high specific strength and electromagnetic interference shielding, magnesium alloy sheets are used increasingly more often in automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries. However, magnesium ally sheets should be usually formed at elevated temperature because of their poor formability at room temperature. For the use of magnesium alloy sheets for an industrial, their mechanical properties at elevated temperature and appropriate forming process conditions have to be developed. In this study, the warm deep drawing process of AZ31 sheets is studied numerically by non-isothermal simulation. The difference between the isothermal simulation results and the non-isothermal simulation results and the progress of warm forming are discussed.

  • In recent years, there has been a growth of the manufacture and application of magnesium products because of its small specific gravity as well as its relatively high strength. However, there are so many studies to assure good formability because magnesium sheet alloy is difficult to form. In this study, uniaxial tensile and biaxial tensile test of AZ31 magnesium sheet alloy with thickness of 1.2mm were performed at room temperature. Uniaxial tensile test were performed until $7\%$ of engineering strain. R-values and stress-strain curve were obtained. Biaxial tensile tests with cruciform specimen were performed until the breakdown of the specimen occurs. The yield loci are made by application of plastic work theory. The results are compared with the theoretical predictions based on the Hill and Logan-Hosford model. However, next study will be performed at warm-temperature because the specimens are broken under the $0.5\%$ of equivalent strain at biaxial tensile test.

펄스 전류 하에서 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 플라즈마전해산화 피막의 형성 거동 (PEO Film Formation Behavior of AZ31 Mg Alloy under Pulse Current)

  • In this study, PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) film formation behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy under application of 300 Hz pulse current was studied by the analyses of V-t curve, arc generation behavior, PEO film thickness and morphology of PEO films with treatment time in 0.05 M NaOH + 0.05 M Na2SiO3 + 0.1 M NaF solution. PEO films was observed to grow after 10 s of application of pulse current together with generation of micro-arcs. PEO film grew linearly with treatment time at a growth rate of about 5.58 ㎛/min at 200 mA/cm2 of pulse current but increasing rate of film formation voltage became lowered largely with increasing treatment time after passing about 250 V, suggesting that resistivity of PEO films during micro-arc generation decreases with increasing film formation voltage at more than 250 V.

  • The success of warm forming of Mg alloy sheets is very dependent on its frictional behavior at elevated temperatures. The effects of contact pressure and sliding length on the frictional characteristics of AZ31B Mg alloy sheet were investigated at elevated temperature and at room temperature. The contact pressure range for the friction test was determined through FE analysis of the roof panel which is a candidate for Mg alloy application. According to the experimental results, the frictional behavior of the Mg alloy sheet is equally highly influenced by both sliding length and contact pressure at room temperature. At elevated temperatures, however, the sliding length has a more dominant influence on the frictional characteristics of the Mg alloy sheet than the contact pressure, if the contact pressure is lower than a certain level.

  • 티타늄은 우수한 생체 적합성으로 임플란트 재료로 많이 사용되고 있지만 높은 비용과 뼈 대비 높은 영률로 인한 문제점이 있다. 이를 대체할 재료로 마그네슘합금이 주목받고 있다. 마그네슘합금은 티타늄과 마찬가지로 생체 적합성이 우수하고 뼈와 비슷한 영률을 가지고 있다. 하지만 부식으로 인한 내식성 문제가 있어 이를 해결하기 위해 다양한 표면 처리법이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구는 EDTA를 포함한 전해 용액에서 AZ31 마그네슘 합금 표면에 전해플라즈마공정으로 세라믹 코팅 층을 성장시키고 형성된 코팅의 특성은 SEM, XRD를 통해 미세구조 및 형상을 분석하였고 코팅 층의 미세 경도 측정을 하였으며, 사람의 혈장과 비슷한 성분인 SBF용액 내에서 부식테스트를 통해 생체내에서의 부식 특성을 평가하였다.

AZ31 Mg합금의 PEO피막 형성거동에 미치는 인산나트륨 농도의 영향 (Effect of Na3PO4 Concentration on The Formation Behavior of PEO films on AZ31 Mg Alloy)

  • Formation behavior of PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) films on AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated under application of 310 Hz AC as a function of $Na_3PO_4$ concentration from 0.02 M to 0.2 M. Film formation voltage and in-situ observation of arcs generated on the specimen surface were recorded with time, and surface morphologies of the PEO films were investigated using optical microscopy, confocal scanning laser microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. PEO film formation voltage decreased linearly with increasing $Na_3PO_4$ concentration which is attributed to the increase of solution pH. PEO films were grown uniformly over the entire surface in $Na_3PO_4$ solutions between 0.05 M and 0.1 M. However, non-uniform PEO films with white spots were formed in $Na_3PO_4$ solutions containing more than 0.1 M. Thickness and roughness of PEO films on AZ31 Mg alloy increased linearly with increasing $Na_3PO_4$ concentration and their increasing rates appeared to be much higher under 1 M than above 1 M. The experimental results suggest that phosphate ions can contribute to the formation of PEO films but higher $Na_3PO_4$ concentration more than 1 M results in local damages of PEO films due to repeated generation of white arcs at the same surface site of AZ31 Mg alloy.

  • Since magnesium alloy sheets have been employed in industrial field which requires the light weight and thin engineering components, most of researches have been focused on the formability of magnesium ahoy sheet. In warm press forming of magnesium alloy sheet, it is important to control the sheet temperature by heating the sheet in closed die. When forming a commercial AZ31 magnesium alloy sheets which are 0.5mm and 1.0mm thick, respectively, time arriving at target temperature and temperature variation in magnesium alloy sheet have been investigated. Sheet metals were mostly formed in simple shapes such as circular or rectangular. Few studies about forming of complex shapes were reported. Thus, the formability of magnesium alloy sheet for complex shapes is investigated. The process variable for a double sink shape deep drawing with circular and rectangular shape was investigated by varying temperature, velocities, and clearances. Accordingly, temperature, velocities, and clearances suitable for forming were suggested through investigating the thickness variation of the product.

  • In order to take into account the strong anisotropy and the tension-compression asymmetry of AZ31 sheet alloy, the Cazacu-Plunkett-Barlat yield criterion(Cazacu, 2006), CPB06, was adopted in the present material modeling. The variation of anisotropic coefficients which describe the yield surface evolution of AZ31 is optimized using an interpolation function based on specific calibration results. It generates continuous yield surfaces, which makes it possible to describe the different hardening rates in tension and compression as well as tension-compression asymmetry of magnesium alloys. The ability of the CPB06 yield criterion to predict experimental results was demonstrated and compared with that of the Hill(1948) yield criterion.

  • Magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet를 자동차용 부품으로 사용하기 위해서는 내식성, 전착도장성등의 신뢰성을 확보해야 한다. 이를 위해서 우리는 Phosphate, manganese, silicon계열의 화성처리제를 이용하여 자동차 부품으로 사용가능한 신뢰성확보를 위해 표면처리 방법에 관한 연구를 진행 하였다.
