View Point Tracking for Parallax Barrier Display Using a Low Cost 3D Imager

  • We present an eye tracking system using a low cost 3D CMOS imager for 3D displays that ensures a correct auto stereoscopic view of position- dependent stereoscopic 3D images. The tracker is capable of segmenting the foreground objects (viewer) from background objects using their relative distance from the camera. The tracker is a novel 3D CMOS Image Sensor based on Time of Flight (TOF) principle using innovating photon gating techniques. The basic feature incorporates real time depth imaging by capturing the shape of a light-pulse front as it is reflected from a three dimensional object. The basic architecture and main building blocks of a real time depth CMOS pixel are described. For this application, we use a stereoscopic type of display using parallax barrier elements that is described as well.

  • In Particle Tracking Velocimetry, the analysis of double-exposed photographic plate can be carried out either by means of Young's fringe analysis or by a digital image processing technique. In this study, we used digital image processing to two images in one frame far analyzing in-cylinder flow fields, and compared PTV with PSV(Particle Streak Velocimetry). Additionally, this technique was verified by two different calibration method. One is interpolation by invert distance, the other is interpolation by area ratio. Finally, the results between two interpolation methods were similar in whole flow fields.

  • Analysis and control of intake charge motion such as swirl and tumble are very important to improve the performance of gasoline engines. In this paper, single frame double exposure PTV(particle tracking velocimetry) is used to investigate intake flow characteristic in a steady flow test rig of gasoline engine with 2-valve and pent-roof combustion chamber. To validate this PTV method, we confirmed reliability of this PTV method using chopper, and coaxial burner experiments. The velocity Held of intake flow is measured with the intake valve lift variation. It is shown that maximum flow velocity is increased and tumble flow become stronger than inverse tumble flow as valve lift increase.

  • The Holographic Particle Velocimetry system can be a promising optical tool for the measurements of three dimensional particle velocities. In this study, diffused illumination holographic system to measure the sizes and 3D velocities of moving particles based on automatic image processing was developed. First of all basic optical systems for pulse laser recording, continuous laser reconstruction, and image acquisition, were constructed. To determine the position of particles in the optical axis, new three auto-focusing parameters(AEP), namely, Correlation Coefficient, Sharpness Index, and Depth Intensity were introduced and verified. The developed system was applied to spray droplets to validate the capability of the system. Three dimensional positions of particles viewed from two sides were decided using AFP and then 3D velocities of Particles were extracted by particle tracking algorithm. Comparison of measurement results of sizes and 3D velocities of particles with those obtained by laser instrument, PDPA, showed good consistency of the developed holographic system.

  • A PID-feedforward controller and Robust Internal-loop Compensator (RIC) based on reinforcement learning using random variable sequences are provided to auto-tune parameters for each controller in the high-precision position control of PMLSM (Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor). Experiments prove the well-tuned controller could be reduced up to one-fifth level of tracking errors before learning by reinforcement learning. The RIC compared to the PID-feedforward controller showed approximately twice the performance in reducing tracking error and disturbance rejection.

  • 본 논문에서는 PAST(Projection Approximation Subspace Tracking)에 기반 한 새로운 부공간(subspace) 추적 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다. 빠른 시분할 대상의 목표물의 방위각을 추정하는 것이 필요하다. 그러나 PAST 기법은 고속의 시분할 환경에서는 잘 동작하지 않는다 따라서 가변망각 인자를 도입하여 빠르게 변화하는 부공간의 비정재 (Nonstationary) 상태에 잘 적응시켜 PAST 성능 향상을 보고자 한다.

  • 이 글에서는 Multi-Tasking Real Time O.S인 VxWorks를 기본으로 하여 다중센서 융합(Multi-Sensor Fusion) 능력을 갖는 다중 로봇 협조제어 시스템의 구현에 대하여 살펴보았다. 본 제어 시스템은 두대 로봇의 제어에 필요한 장애물 회피, 조건 동작(Conditional Motion) 혹은 동시동작(Concurrent Motion)과 외부 디바이스와의 동기 Motion(Conveyor Tracking)을 수행할 수 있게 구현하였고, 몇몇 작업을 통해 우수성을 입증하였다. 앞으로 본 연구와 관련한 추후 과제로는 1) 자유도가 6관절형인 수직다관절 매니퓰레이터를 위한 충돌회피 알고리즘의 개발, 2) Two Arm Robot의 상대 위치를 위한 Auto-Calibration 시스템의 개발, 3) CAD Based Trajectory 생성 등이 있다.

  • RFID(13.56MHz)를 이용한 자동 트래킹 시스템은 기본적으로 RFID 안테나와 리더부, Card(Tag)로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 RFID 안테나의 크기와 출력 거리에 영향을 미치는 최적 Capacitance 값을 도출하는 방법을 제시한다. 제시한 방법의 타당성을 검토하기 위하여 RFID 안테나의 크기가 $0.0856{\times}0.05398m$이고 출력거리가 10~12cm에 가장 적합한 Capacitance 값을 도출하여 시제품를 설계 제작하여 정상적인 동작 상태를 확인하였다.

  • In astronomical spectroscopy, stable auto-guiding and accurate target centering capabilities are critical to increase the achievement of high observation efficiency and sensitivity. We developed an instrument control software for the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS), a high spectral resolution near-infrared slit spectrograph with (R=40,000). IGRINS is currently installed on the McDonald 2.7 m telescope in Texas, USA. We had successful commissioning observations in March, May, and July of 2014. The role of the IGRINS slit-viewing camera (SVC) is to move the target onto the slit, and to provide feedback about the tracking offsets for the auto-guiding. For a point source, we guide the telescope with the target on the slit. While for an extended source, we use another a guide star in the field offset from the slit. Since the slit blocks the center of the point spread function, it is challenging to fit the Gaussian function to guide and center the target on slit. We developed several center finding algorithms, e.g., 2D-Gaussian Fitting, 1D-Gaussian Fitting, and Center Balancing methods. In this presentation, we show the results of auto-guiding performances with these algorithms.

  • In this paper, we propose methods to improve image-based auto-focus that can compensate for drawbacks of traditional auto-focus control. When adjusting the focus, there is a problem that the focus window cannot be set to the same position if the camera's LOS is not directed at the same location and flow or shake. To address this issue, we applied image tracking techniques to improve optimal focus localization accuracy. And also, although the same focus value should be calculated at the same focus step, but different values can be calculated by camera's fine shaking or image disturbance due to atmospheric scattering. To tackle this problem a SAFS (Stable Adjacency Frame Selection) has been proposed. As a result of this study, our proposed methodology shows more accurate than traditional methods in terms of finding best focus position.
