ACE 2000 ATM 교환기를 이용하여 MPLS 교환기를 구현 시, ATM 가입자 및 중계선을 수용하여 스위치와 정합 기능을 수행하는 AIM(ATM interface module)에 IP 패킷에 대한 룩업을 수행하여 ATM 스위치로 패킷을 포워딩하는 HFEA(High performance Forwarding Engine board Assembly)를 연동하기 위해서는 UTOPIA Level2 연결이 요구된다. 그러나 HFEA 에서 622Mbps 급 성능의 MXT4400(SAR) 칩은 TSAR(Transmit SAR)로 운용 시 Master모드로 동작하게 되고, AIM 모듈 또한 Rx에서 Master모드로 동작하기 때문에 이들을 연결하기 위해서는 양 모듈간에서 Slave 모드로 동작할 수 있는 UTOPIA Controller가 필요하게 된다. 이에 따라 ALMA(AW Layer Module Assembly)칩과 HFEA TSAR 사이에서 데이터를 전달하는 UTOPIA Controller를 Xilinx를 이용해 FPGA로 구현하였다.

AAL2 has been adopted for bandwidth-efficient trans-mission of low bit tate traffic over ATM networks in ITUT and ATM Forum. Since ATM/AAL2 is expected to be used as a switching technology in third-generation mobile access networks and mobile data traffic is expected to increase rapidly in near future, there must be a need for efficient scheduling scheme satisfying the QoS requirement of ow bit rate voice as well as the one of high bit rate data. In this paper, we propose a new class-scheduling scheme to improve data packet loss probability, while Qos of voice traffic is guaranteed, when data traffic is multiplexed together with mobile voice traffic into a single ATM VCC. The proposed scheme can efficiently support data traffic by assigning a time threshold value to voice traffic. Through simulation study, we show that the proposed scheme does not only achieve better efficiency for providing both mobile voice and data services than HOL class-scheduling scheme and normal FIFO scheme, but also guarantees mean voice packet delay under a certain criteria.

ATM technology is reaching a certain level of maturity that allow for its deployment in local as well as in wide area networks. Concurrently, audiovisual applications are foreseen as one of the major users of such broadband networks. We present in this paper requriement of real-time multimedia service on B-ISDN networks and simulating the transport of MPEG-2 encoded multimedia data over ATM networks using CBR, VBR, ABR of ATM Traffic Service. We compare each delay time considering network performance and propose need for real-time multimedia service.

ATM technology is well developed. Small-scale access node and edge switches are introduced in the network. Large scale ATM core switches are prepared for backbone application. Currently, Internet traffic is increasing so rapidly and we need to consider effective way of accommodating the volume of traffic. In the other hand, QoS and traffic engineering concept is required in the Internet services. Here, in this paper, two technologies are explained and suggested for integration of networks for future ATM based IP network.

ATM 기술과 패킷망의 발전에 따라 음성, 데이터, 영상 전송의 필요성이 증가되고 있다. ATM에서는 데이타 손실을 최소화하기 위하여 셀로 불리우는 일정길이의 데이타로 나누어 진다. ATM에서는 송신시 부호를 고정하지 않고 버리기 때문에 영상신호 전송에서는 계층부호화 방법을 사용한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 계층부호화 방법인 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 부호화를 시뮬레이션 하였다.

The Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) networks are being adopted as backbones over various parts of Internet. Also, TCP is one of the most widespread transport protocols, nowdays. It can be used with ATM. But, TCP shows poor end-to-end performance on ATM networks. Effective throughput of TCP over ATM can be quite low when cells are dropped at the congested ATM switch. The low throughput is due to wasted bandwidth as congested link transmits cells from corrupted packets. This paper examines the behavior of TCP over ATM with limited bandwidth in a broadband environment. As multiple VBR sources occupies most of the available bandwidth, there has been a starvation effect, so TCP sources couldn't get the chance of transmitting data. Also, throughput is proportional to the amount of buffer.

Rice wine was prepared with medicinal plants or plant extracts to obtain a value added nutritious alcoholic tonics. Powders of ten medicinal plants (PTM) or aqueous extracts prepared from them (ATM) were added during the initial stage of fermentation. Aroma compounds of rice wine (control) and wines containing PTM or ATM were isolated by liquid-liquid continuous solvent extraction (LLCSE) and analyzed by gas chromatography-olfactometry and aroma extract dilution analysis (AEDA). Desirable aroma compounds: acetaldehyde (sweet, ethereal), benzaldehyde (sweet, fragrant), ethyl acetate (sweet) and ethyl octanoate (sweet, ethanolic) had the highest log$_3$-flavor dilution (FD) factors in ATM. Results of sensory evaluation demonstrated that intensities of undesirable aroma attributes, such as koji and yeasty notes in control, and raw medicinal herb notes in PTM, were lowest in wine with ATM. Wines made with ATM had the most attractive aroma attributes among the three different traditional Korean medicinal wines.

In this paper, we propose the improved structure of fully interconnected ATM Switch to develop the small sized switch element and represent practical implementation of switch network. As the part II of the full study about structure and implementation of fully interconnected ATM Switch, this paper especially describes the implementation of an ATM switching element with 8 input port and 8 output port at 155 Mbits/sec each. The single board switching element is used as a basic switching block in a small sized ATm switch for ATM LAN Hub and customer access node. This switch has dedicated bus in 12 bit width(8 bit data + 4 bit control signal) at each input and output port, bit addressing and cell filtering scheme. In this paper, we propose a practical switch architecture with fully interconnected buses to implement a small-sized switch and to provide multicast function withoutany difficulty. The design of switching element has become feasible using advanced CMOS technology and Embedded Gate Array technology. And, we also represent Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC) of Switch Output Multiplexing Unit(SOMU) and 12 layered Printed Circuit Board for interconnection network of switch.

The authors of this paper chose the delphi methods to investigate into several areas to understand where the pressures for ATM equipments will emerge in the prescribed time horizon of 1999 to 2010- a period just beyond the current manufacturing and deployment schedules of most companies. The areas studied are the office buildings and interoffice connectivity as well as switches, and finally transmission facilities. This paper is matched into these areas with the results of a Delphi study of 14 respondents from the common carriers like Korea Telecom and national institutions like ETRI. The investigators calculated the average answer for each question and presents the questionnaires for a second round to individuals who had responded to the first round of questioning. As a result of this paper, the authors reached some conclusions regarding what item will be predominant in each of the areas studied as well as the promoters and barriers for ATM deployment and some suggestions are provided for corporate managers and policy makers. This Delphi study did not provide a strong and uniform forecast that ATM would dominate the marketplace in the early years of next millenium, as many had anticipated. Whether it is in he area of office connection, enterprise backbone, switches and transmission facilities, respondents predicted the patterns which indicate a movement toward higher-bandwidth connectivity, although not necessarily provided with ATM networks. A general pattern is that the predictions for ATM deployment in each of the areas were strong from the year 1999 to 2010.

본 논문에서는 ATM 통신프로토콜을 위한 자동시험시스템인 ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System)의 개발과 적용을 소개한다. ACTS는 ITU-T 또는 ATM Forum의 ATM 사용자-망 접속표준을 준용하는 ATM 단말과 망장비의 프로토콜적합성을 확인하는데 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 ACTS 개발에 사용된 방법을 소개한 뒤, ACTS를 실제 ATM 단말과 장비에 적용한 사례들을 소개한다. ACTS의 적용을 통하여 시험대상 장비들이 지닌 프로토콜구현상의 문제점을 파악하였고, 문제에 대한 원인분석을 수행하였다. 또한 이러한 문제점들이 상호운용에 미치는 장애를 예측함으로써, ACTS를 상호운용하는 ATM 장비를 확보하기 위한 유용한 도구로 사용할 수 있음을 보인다.Abstract This paper presents development and application of ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System), an automated test system for ATM protocols. ACTS is a test system that checks conformance of ATM terminal and network equipment implementing either ITU-T or ATM Forum user-network interface. This paper, after presenting the methodology and process used for developing ACTS, conducts case studies of its applications to real ATM equipment. By applying ACTS, we were able to detect numerous problems in protocol implementations of ATM equipment and analyse causes of the problems, thereby demonstrating the efficacy of ACTS as an efficient automated testing tool. Furthermore, by predicting the potential effects of the problems on interoperability, we show how ACTS can be used as a useful tool for ensuring interoperable ATM equipment.
