This study examined elementary school students' perceptions and acceptances related to kimchi in Jecheon area. This study examined with 388 elementary school students. Demographic characteristics of subjects, perceptions and acceptances related to kimchi were surveyed by self-developed questionnaires. Exactly 54.1% of subjects ate kimchi more than once per day, whereas 2.8% of subjects never ate kimchi. With regard to location, the home showed the highest percentage. Exactly 94.3% of respondents answered that eating kimchi was good for health. For acceptance, 86.9% of respondents answered that they liked kimchi. Reasons for liking kimchi were texture and special taste in order, whereas the most common reason for disliking was spicy taste. Baechu-kimchi (Chinese cabbage kimchi) was highly preferred, whereas pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi) was not. Subjects with an extended family preferred oisobagi (cucumber kimchi). There were significant differences between the groups with balanced dietary habits and unbalanced dietary habits in terms of acceptance for chonggak-kimchi (small radish kimchi), yeolmu-kimchi, kkadugi, mulkimchi (watery kimchi) and oisobagi. Elementary school students in Jecheon area recognized the importance and necessity of kimchi in Korean meals. Exactly 23.7% answered spicy taste as the reason for liking reason while 37.3% answered spicy taste as the reason for disliking. These results suggest that various kinds of kimchi need to be developed for elementary students with different levels of spiciness in addition to continuous nutrition education about balanced dietary behaviors at school and home.
The objective of this study was to investigate the dietary behavior and preference of vegetable food and to provide preliminary data required for menu promotion for middle school students' proper diet habits for their health. A survey was conducted for one week(2007) in Kyounggi province(Ansan and Seoul). The result was as follows. Three times a day was the highest in the number of eating meals and boiled rice. In the preference of food items, the meat food was more preferred than the vegetable food. In case of vegetable preference, males were higher than females. Many students recognized one dish of vegetable food in their meals. 72.4% of students ate less than provided in the food service system. Also, 7% of students did not eat vegetable foods entirely. They have had 1/2 dish(35.2%) of Kimchi in their meals and only 10.6% of students didn't eat Kimchi at all. The reason that students ate vegetable provided was 'for eating rice'(47%). Also, the reasons that students do not eat vegetable provided were 'bad taste' and 'unfavorite vegetable'. The above results indicated that it was needed to understand the importance of vegetables and education about the nutrients of vegetables.
The purpose of this study was to propose the marketing strategy for the local foodservice industry which can lead to successful business in keen competitive foodservice industry by adapting community residents' dining-out behaviors. A total of 350 adults (291 collected, 102 men and 188 women) was surveyed with a questionnaire about the frequency of dining-out, company when out to eat, proper price for one meal, reasons why one chooses a specific restaurant, and general information. Data was analyzed by SPSS/win 7.5. Over the 1/3 of residents (36.3%) ate out 1-2 times a week and slightly over the 1/4 of residents (26.4%) did so 1-2 times a month. Usually men did more dining out than women. Teachers/ professors' (52.6%) dined out 1-2 times a week. Respondents with 1-2 million won of monthly income (46.4%) ate out 1-2 times a week. Almost 3/4 of respondents chose Korean restaurant. The main factors affected selecting the specific restaurant were 'cleanliness of food and atmosphere of restaurant', and 'reasonable price'. More than 1/3 of respondents (38.9%) answered 5,000-8,000 won was reasonable price for eating-out. Respondents in 20's dined out with friends (70.4%) and friends (43.0%) chose the specific restaurant; on the other hand, the other age groups usually dined out accompanied by family (60.7 - 73.7%) and respected spouse or children's opinion when selecting a restaurant. Thus, the menu must be reevaluated from the customers' view point and nutritional status for the well-being of community residents.
This survey was carried out with Choongbuk university students to study their nutrition knowledge, dietary altitudes, and flood behaviors, in September, 1994 It showed women had more nutrition knowledge, more positive dietary altitudes, and ate various floods mort frequently. Students boarding themselves had poor food behaviors. There were positive relationships between nutrition knowledge and dietary attitudes, and dietary attitudes and flood behaviors. More reasonable nutrition education is needed far desirable food behaviors.

This paper deals with the Bayesian estimation for the NLAR(1) model with Laplacian marginals. Assuming the independent uniform priors for two parameters of the NLAT(1) model, the griddy Gbbs sampler by Ritter and Tanner(1992) is used to obtain the Bayesian estimates. Random numbers generated form the uniform priors ate used as the grids for each parameter. Some simulations are conducted and compared with the maximum likelihood estimation result.
An 8-year-old castrated male domestic shorthair cat (Case 1) and 3-year-old castrated male Siamese cat (Case 2) was presented with acute paresis of the hindlimbs, constant open-mouth breathing, and hemoptysis. Heart murmur (Case 1) and gallop sound (Case 2) was ausculated on the left heart base. Radiographs revealed alveolar infiltration of the caudodorsal lung lobes with aerophagea in Case 1 and prominent cardiomegaly in Case 2. Marked concentric hypertrophy of the ventricular septum and free wall, and left atrial enlargement was detected through echocardiography in both cats. Based on the examinations including echocardiography, those cats were diagnosed as hypertropic cardiomyopathy. Abdominal ultrasound revealed echogenic material in the aortic trifurcation region, aortic thromboembolism (ATE). Although prognosis of those animals was guarded, interventional therapeutic approach through direct endovascular thrombolytic therapy was attempted. ATE was visualized through angiography; however dissolving the embolus using interventional thrombolytic approach was not successful due to the extensive thrombus.
ATF2 is a cellular transcription factor which belongs to the CREB/ATF class and it is leucine zipper protein which generally binds to DNA as dimers. This paper presents the procedure for subcloning the ATF2 gene and the results of experiment used the expressed ATF2. The pET expression vector was used since it produced 6xHis fusion protein for easy purification using affinity column. The Nickel chelating chromatography was used for Purifying the expressed ATE2 from E- codi BL2l. Subsequen시y In vitro binding pull-down assay showed the binding specificity of ATF2 with AP-1 family factors such as BATF, c-Fos, c-Jun and ATF2 itselgf. ATF2 forms homodimer as well as strong heterodimer with BATF. It also forms stable dimer with c-Jun but barely binds with c-Fos.
In this study, we aimed to explore whether eating alone is associated with mental health conditions in Korean adolescents. The data of 2,012 Korean adolescents aged 12-18 years were obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2015-2019. Participants were classified into three groups based on the frequency of eating alone: none (all meals with others); 1 meal/day alone; and ≥2 meals/day alone. Mental health conditions were assessed based on stress recognition, depressive symptoms, and suicidal ideation. Multivariable logistic regressions were employed to calculate the adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of poor mental health conditions according to the frequency of eating alone. Adolescents who ate ≥2 meals/day alone had higher odds of stress recognition (AOR: 2.65, 95% CI: 1.94-3.63), depressive symptoms (AOR: 2.55, 95% CI: 1.47-4.42), and suicidal ideation (AOR: 2.53, 95% CI: 1.05-6.08) than those who ate all their meals with others. In addition, having breakfast or dinner alone increased the odds of stress recognition. Considering the continuous increase in the social phenomenon of eating alone, nutritional educations are needed to develop adolescents' ability to choose more nutritionally balanced and healthy meals when eating alone.
In this study, the preference for Korean Kimchi by Chinese people in Shandong Province was evaluated. Specifically, this study was conducted to aid in the introduction of Kimchi to China by providing information and developing local types designed to meet regional taste preferences. The subjects were comprised of 298 Chinese (male 108, female 190) residents of Weihai, Yantai and Qingdao, in Shandong province, China. The subjects were provided with a self administered questionnaire form designed to evaluate their views on Korean Kimchi. The collected data were then analyzed using the SAS software package. The results revealed that 95.3% of the respondents were aware of Korean Kimchi. In addition, 100% of the respondents who had visited Korea and 98.1% of the respondents who had an interest in Korea were aware of Kimchi. With regard to the origins of their interest in Kimchi, 26.8% of the subjects answered 'through mass media', while 23.9% reported that they learned about Kimchi 'through friends'. Most subjects recognized Kimchi as a 'Korean traditional food' (92.6%), a 'delicious food' (53.2%), and a 'fermented food' (38.0%). Baechu Kimchi was found to be the most well-known Kimchi, followed by Kkakdugi, Oi Kimchi, Yoelmu Kimchi and Nabak Kimchi. Additionally, 69.1% of the subjects knew how it was prepared, most of whom reported that they learned how Kimchi was prepared through 'Korean movie and/or drama'. Moreover, 88.9% of the subjects had eaten Kimchi. Overall, 43.8% of the subjects reported that they ate Kimchi $1{\sim}2$ times per month, while 32.1% reported that they ate Kimchi $1{\sim}2$ time per year. The most common places that Kimchi was eaten were a 'Korean restaurant' (67.6%) or with a 'colleague' (32.8%). The primary reasons for not having eaten Kimchi were 'no knowledge or dislike of Kimchi by family' (30.3%), 'difficulty purchasing Kimchi' (21.2%), 'high priced Kimchi' (21.2%), and 'dislike the smell and shape of Kimchi' (12.1%).
The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality attributes and importance that affects their satisfaction with respect to lunchboxes amongst children from low-income families in Korea. In case of $1-3^{rd}$-grade elementary school, 57.1% received lunch box through the community child center, while 45.2%, 68.5% and 80.7% of $4-6^{th}$-elementary school, middle school, and high school students received the lunch box from home, respectively. Typically, in 40.2% of all grades, the time to eat the meal was within 1~2 hours of delivery, and 34.0% consumed the lunch within 2~6 hours of delivery. With respect to intake of the contents of lunchboxes, 72.0% of the participants answered that they ate 80% of the lunchboxes delivered and 24.9% only ate 50% of the content of lunchboxes. The largest leftover were vegetables (26.9%), and the reason for leaving food was 'do not like to eat (36.1%)' followed by 'no taste (32.6%)'. Regarding improvements in delivery lunchboxes, elementary school students selected 'taste', while middle school and high school students selected 'variety of menu'. The 'nutrition (3.69 point)' of the lunchboxes was the highest satisfaction and the 'variety of menu (3.34 point)' was the lowest. In all grades, 'nutrition' and 'hygiene' were considered to be important as quality attributes of the delivery lunchboxes, and satisfaction was also high. On the other hand, in the $1-3^{rd}$-grade elementary school, 'variety of menu' and 'amount of side dish' were important but satisfaction was low. The $4-6^{th}$-grade elementary school, middle school and high school students stated that 'taste' and 'variety of menu' were important, but satisfaction was low.
