Ti-SBA-15 catalysts doped with lanthanide ions (Ln/Ti-SBA-15) were successfully synthesized using conventional hydrothermal method. In addition, they were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, DRS, BET, and PL. The activity of these materials on the photocatalytic decomposition of methylene blue under ultraviolet light irradiation was also examined. Ti-SBA-15 catalysts doped with various lanthanide ions maintained their mesoporous structure. The pore size and pore volume of Ln/Ti-SBA-15 materials decreased but their surface area increased upon the doping of lanthanide ion. Ln/Ti-SBA-15 materials exhibited the type IV nitrogen isotherm with desorption hysteresis loop type H2, which was characteristic of mesoporous materials. The size of hysteresis increased in the doping of lanthanide ions on Ti-SBA-15 material. There was no absorption in the visible region (> 400 nm) regardless of the doping of lanthanide ions to TiO2 particles, while the broad bands at 220 nm appeared at the Ln/Ti-SBA-15 samples, indicating the framework incorporation of titanium into SBA-15. 1 mol% Pr/ Ti-SBA-15 catalysts showed the highest photocatalytic activity on the decomposition of methylene blue but the Ti-SBA-15 catalysts doped with Eu, Er, and Nd ions showed lower activity compared to pure Ti-SBA-15 catalyst. The PL peaks appeared at about 410 nm at all catalysts while the excitonic PL signal was proportional to the photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of methylene blue.
In this study, the effects of ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) treatment at room and high temperatures (RT and HT of 400℃) on friction and wear behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy prepared by selective laser melting (SLM) were investigated. The objective of this study is to improve the mechanical properties and frictional behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by UNSM treatment. Dry friction and wear tests were conducted using a ball-on-disk method at RT with a bearing steel as the counter ball. Due to the high HT and UNSM treatment, the surface hardness tended to increase and surface roughness tended to reduce. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that nanocrystallization structure and compressive residual stress were formed at the surface layer after UNSM treatment at both RT and HT. After UNSM treatment, it was observed that the wear rate was reduced by about 6% for the specimen treated at RT and a 28% reduction for the specimen treated at HT in comparison with the untreated one. Based on scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that the damage caused by fatigue wear occurred in the wear track of the heat-treated specimen, and it is believed to be the cause of the highest wear rate. Mechanical properties and wear resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy were improved and prospect of industrial application was confirmed. Further research is still required to improve the characteristics of SLM Ti-6Al-4V alloy to the level of wrought Ti-6Al-4V alloy.

The dental implant materials required good mechanical properties, such as fatigue strength, combined with a high resistance to corrosion. For increasing fatigue resistance and delaying onset of stress corrosion cracking, shot peening has been used for > 50 years to extend service life of metal components. However, there is no information on the electrochemical behavior of shot peened and hydroxyapatite(HA) coated Ti-6Al-4V alloys. To increase fatigue strength, good corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility, the electrochemical characteristics of Ti/TiN/HA coated and shot peened Ti-6Al-4V alloys by electron beam physical vapor deposition(EB-PVD) have been researched by various electrochemical method in 0.9%NaCl. Ti-6Al-4V alloys were prepared under the condition of hydrogen and vacuum arc furnace. The produced materials were quenched at 1000$^{\circ}C$ under high purity dried Ar atmosphere and were hold at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs to achieve the fatigue strength(1140㎫) of materials. Ti-6Al-4V alloys were prepared under the condition of hydrogen and vacuum arc furnace. Shot peening(SP) and sand blasting treatment was carried out for 1, 5, and 10min. On the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloys using the steel balls of 0.5mm and alumina sand of 40$\mu\textrm{m}$ size. Ti/TiN/HA multilayer coatings were carried out by using electron-beam deposition method(EB-PVD) as shown Fig. 1. Bulk Ti, powder TiN and hydroxyapatite were used as the source of the deposition materials. Electrons were accelerated by high voltage of 4.2kV with 80 - 120mA on the deposition materials at 350$^{\circ}C$ in 2.0 X 10-6 torr vacuum. Ti/TiN/HA multilayer coated surfaces and layers were investigated by SEM and XRD. A saturated calomel electrode as a reference electrode, and high density carbon electrode as a counter electrode, were set according to ASTM GS-87. The potentials were controlled at a scan rate of 100 mV/min. by a potentiostat (EG&G Co.273A) connected to a computer system. Electrochemical tests were used to investigate the electrochemical characteristics of Ti/TiN/HA coated and shot peened materials in 0.9% NaCl solution at 36.5$^{\circ}C$. After each electrochemical measurement, the corrosion surface of each sample was investigated by SEM.

Mechanical alloying is an effective process to finely distribute inert dispersoids in an Al-TM(TM is a transition metal) system. It has been considered that high melting point aluminides are formed by precipitation from supersaturated Al(Ti) powder. This analysis is based on the fact that much higher content of TM than the solubioity can be dissolved in alpha aluminum during the high energy ball milling. Thus, decomposition behavior of Ti in the Al(Ti) was considered very important. But it is confirmed that the higher portion of Ti than Al(Ti) solid solution is existed as nano-sized Ti particles in the MA powders by high energy ball nilling from the XRD spectrum and TEM analysis in this study. Therefore, the role of undissolved TM particles affect the formation of aluminides should be suitably considered. In this study, we present experimental observation on the formation of $Al_3Ti$ fron mechanical alloyed Al-Ti alloys in the hyperperitectic region. This study showed that, in the mechanically alloyed Al-20wt%Ti specimen, intermediate phase of cubic $Al_3Ti$ and tetragonal $Al_{24}Ti_8$ formed at $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ and $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, respectively, before the MA state reaches to equilibrium at higher temperatures. The formation behavior of $Ll_2-Al_3Ti$ is interpreted by interdiffusion of Al and Ti in solid state based on the fact that large amount of nano-sized Ti particles exist in the milled powder. Present analysis indicated undissolved Ti particles of nanosize should have played an important role initiation the formation of $Al_3Ti$ phase during annealing.
Adhesion between Cu and low-k films has been investigated. Low-k films deposited using a mixture of hexamethyldisilane(HMDS) and Para-xylene had a dielectric constant as low as 2.7, showing the thermally stable properties up to $400^{\circ}C$. In this study, Ti glue layer, boron dopant, and $N_2$plasma treatment were used to improve adhesion property of between Cu and low-k films. Ti glue layer slightly improved adhesion property. After $N_2$plasma treatment, the adhesion property was significantly improved due to the increased roughness and the formation of new binding states between Ti and plasma-treated PPpX : HMDS. However, $300^{\circ}C$ annealing of $N_2$plasma treated sample caused the diffusion of Cu into the PPpX : HMDS, degrading the low-k properties. In the case of Cu(B)/Ti/PPpX : HMDS, the adhesion was remarkably increased. This enhanced adhesion was attributed to formation of Ti-boride at the Cu-Ti interface. It is because the formed Ti-boride prevented the diffusion of Cu into the PPpX : HMDS and the Cu-Ti reaction at the Ti interface.
While sintering the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3-BaTiO3 system through solid-reaction route, pyrochlore(Pb3Nb4O13) phase while reduces the dielectric constant is inevitably formed. Substitution of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 with PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 can retard the occurrence of pyrochlore phase. The perovskite solid-solution without containing pyrochlore phase can be obtained when we consolidated the materials consisting of PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 at 1200℃ for 2 hours. The sintered body composed of 0.8Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1PbTiO3-0.1BaTiO3 composition showed the diffused phase transition(DPT) phenomena and the maximum value of dielectric constant at 0℃ (Tc') with the value of 1.3×104.
Let R be a ring and n a fixed non-negative integer. $\cal{TI}_n$ (resp. $\cal{TF}_n$) denotes the class of all right R-modules of FGT-injective dimensions at most n (resp. all left R-modules of FGT-flat dimensions at most n). We prove that, if R is a right $\prod$-coherent ring, then every right R-module has a $\cal{TI}_n$-cover and every left R-module has a $\cal{TF}_n$-preenvelope. A right R-module M is called n-TI-injective in case $Ext^1$(N,M) = 0 for any $N\;{\in}\;\cal{TI}_n$. A left R-module F is said to be n-TI-flat if $Tor_1$(N, F) = 0 for any $N\;{\in}\;\cal{TI}_n$. Some properties of n-TI-injective and n-TI-flat modules and their relations with $\cal{TI}_n$-(pre)covers and $\cal{TF}_n$-preenvelopes are also studied.
Tic and TiN layers were deposited on the stainless steel substrate by the reactive RF sputtering. Ar was used for sputtering gas and CzHz and Nz were used for reaction gas. Deposition rate increased linearly to the applied RF power, and decreased as the partial pressure ratio of sputter gas to reactive gas increased. The thin layers were stoichiometric at the partial pressure ratio of 0.03 for Tic and at partial pressure ratio of 0.05 for TiN. The morphologies and structures of the thin layers were investigated by AES, SEM and TEM. In addition, N+ ion was implanted to Tic and the resulting influence on the film and annealing effects were also examined.

Titanium (IV) dioxide (TiO2) is one of the most attractive d-block transition metal functional oxides. Many applications of TiO2 such as dye-sensitized solar cells and photocatalyst have been widely investigated. To utilize solar energy efficiently, TiO2 should be well-aligned with a high surface area and promote the charge separation as well as electron transport. Herein, the TiO2 nanotubes were successfully fabricated by a template-directed method. The electrospun PEO(Polyethylene oxide, Molecular weight, 400k)fibers were used as a soft template for coating with titanium dioxide using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. The deposition was conducted onto a template at 50$^{\circ}C$ by using titaniumisopropoxide [Ti(OCH(CH3)2)4; TTIP] as precursors of TiO2. While the as-deposited TiO2 layers onto PEO fibers were completely amorphous with atomic layer deposition, the TiO2 layers after calcination at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h were properly converted into polycrystalline nanostructured hallow TiO2 nanotube. The TiO2 nanotube with high surface area can be easily handled and reclaimed for use in future applications related to solar cell fabrications.
Soluble polyaniline was synthesized by attaching titanium isoproxide ($Ti(OPr)_4$) to the amine group of the aniline. Approximately 1 to 1 molar ratio of aniline and $Ti(OPr)_4$ was mixed and polymerized with ammonium persulfate. The FTIR result showed clear difference between $TiO_2$-aniline composite ($TiO_2An$) and $TiO_2$-polyaniline composite ($TiO_2PAn$). Although the $TiO_2An$ had negligible UV-visible absorption, the $TiO_2PAn$ showed strong absorption in the UV-visible region. Photoluminescence (PL) peaks of $TiO_2An$ were shifted toward red with the reduction of the excitation energy, which could be due to the multiple emission centers. The luminescence peak shift stopped at 501 nm. The PL spectra of $TiO_2PAn$ exhibited three emission peaks at 2.88 eV (430 nm), 2.48 eV (501 nm) and 2.22 eV (558 nm). The new emission center (2.22 eV) was observed after polymerization. Field emission scanning electron microscope image showed crack-free composite film.
