  • For the past 20 years, the medical education accreditation program of Korean Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation (KIMEE) has contributed greatly to the standardization and improvement of the quality of basic medical education in Korea. Now, it contributes to establishing and promoting the future of medical education. Since its inception in 2019, Accreditation Standard of KIMEE 2019 (ASK2019) aims to achieve world-class medical education through the application of learner-centered curriculum using a continuum framework for the three phases of formal medical education: basic medical education, post-graduate medical education, and continuing professional development. ASK2019 also promotes medical education which meets community needs and employs systematic assessments throughout the education process. These are important changes that can be used to gauge the future of the medical education accreditation system. Furthermore, internationalization, interprofessional education, health systems science, and on-going, permanent self-assessment systems in every medical school are emerging as important topics for the future of medical education. It's time for the medical education accreditation system in Korea to observe and adopt new trends in global medical education.

  • If stock market is efficient, any well-devised trading rule can't consistently outperform the average stock market returns. This study aims to verify whether the strategy based on bid-ask volume information can beat the stock market. I suggested a day trading strategy using order imbalance indicator and empirically analyzed its profitability with the KOSPI 200 index futures data from 2001 to 2018. Entry rules are as follows: If BSI is over 50%, enter buy order, otherwise enter sell order, assuming that stock price rises after BSI is over 50% and stock price falls after BSI is less than 50%. The empirical results showed that the suggested trading strategy generated very high trading profit, that is, its annual return runs to minimum 71% per annum even after the transaction costs. The profit was generated consistently during 18 years. This study also improved the suggested trading strategy applying the genetic algorithm, which may help the market practitioners who trade the KOSPI 200 index futures.

  • According to the World Health Organization, for medical schools to fulfill their obligation of social accountability, it is necessary for medical education, research, and service areas to ref lect the healthcare system's relevance, quality, cost-effectiveness, and equity. This study utilized Boelen and Heck's (1995) social accountability grid model to analyze the degree to which the Accreditation Standards of Korean Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation 2019 (ASK2019) standards apply the World Federation for Medical Education's (WFME) standards. The social accountability characteristics of the former were compared to those of the WFME, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and the Australian Medical Council. Experts with experience and certification in medical education and evaluation classified the ASK2019 standards according to the grid model, evaluated social accountability perspectives, and categorized them according to the process, content, and outcome. Of the 92 standards, 61 (66.30%) were selected as social accountability standards; these encompassed all areas. There was a particular focus on outcome-related areas, such as "mission and outcomes," "student assessment," "educational evaluation," and "continuous improvement." Education and quality were the most common (33, 54.11%), followed by 18 standards related to education and relevance. However, the standards on cost effectiveness and equity corresponding to education, research, and service were significantly insufficient. As a result of classification using a logic model, many criteria were incorporated into the process, producing results similar to those of international accreditation institutions. Therefore, to fulfill medical schools' social accountability, it is necessary to develop cost effectiveness and equity standards with reference to grid models and expand them beyond education to include research and service areas. Developing content and outcome standards is also required.

  • Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reduces airline passengers, which leads to a sharp decline in airline sales. They are concerned about the dismissal or unpaid leave of the flight pilot and crew, and the management of the passengers is also under great stress. Stress management methods for COVID-19 can be divided into general stress management such as 'Let's change me', 'Let's find the source of life', and 'Let's ask for help', and mental health management in a disaster situation.

  • Objective : The definitions and categories of subjects related to humanities and social medicine are still controversial, and we tried to find the areas lacking compared to the standards of medical education Method : Humanities and social medicine-related subjects of the World Medical Education Standards, ASK2019, and KAS2021 were reviewed, and humanities and social medicine subjects of the College of Korean Medicine were searched. We compared subjects with the medical school learning outcomes and Korean Medicine Doctors' job competency. In order to increase validity, two authors independently classified them. In case of different opinions, we revised after sufficient discussion Results : Humanities and social medicine-related subjects in the Korean Medicine curriculum appear to be sufficient when compared with WFME and ASK2019. The humanities and social medicine-related subjects of Korean Medicine schools were not distributed evenly throughout. The areas to be supplemented in Korean Medicine education were 'a diverse understanding of life and death', 'prevention and response to patient safety incidents', 'effective communication with health-related organizations and groups', 'social responsibility and reflective practice' and 'communication between health and medical professions'. Conclusion : Humanities and social medicine-related subjects in Korean Medicine education are sufficient, but they are not evenly distributed, and the areas listed above need to be reinforced.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of Hidden gates form with the times. Fortresses position is constructed on the Korea mountain ranges. Hidden gate, one of facilities to construct fortress among various factors, represents as route of supplies way, ask for rescue, or counterattack plan to come in. The shape of hidden gate changes depend on land form, function, and time period. Previous research partially based on archeology or history. This research analyze Namhan mountain Namhansansung, one of the highest hidden gates count in Korea, distributive by main fortress, Bong-am fortress, Hanbong fortress. Nahhan Mountain fortress repeatedly affected by King Injo in Joseon Dynasty. As a result, Nahhan Mountain fortress consist of hidden gates alternation depend on the time of establishment or extension which makes different shape or size.

  • A transmission line based bowed string model is built by analogizing a vibrating string to an electrical transmission line and implementing the calculation for the frictional bow-string force given by a digital bow into a circuit. The performance of the proposed model is demonstrated by showing that the velocity of the string at the bowing point from the proposed model is consistent with that from the finite difference form of the wave equation for a bowed string by the digital bow.

  • This paper is a study on speech recognition in the Korean using grapheme unit (Cho-sumg [onset], Jung-sung [nucleus], Jong-sung [coda]). Here we make ASR (Automatic speech recognition) system without G2P (Grapheme to Phoneme) process and show that Deep learning based ASR systems can learn Korean pronunciation rules without G2P process. The proposed model is shown to reduce the word error rate in the presence of sufficient training data.

  • This paper is a study result on long distance transmission of underwater acoustic sensor data over cable. The data transceiver is designed using the LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) transmission scheme, and the jitter characteristics are analyzed by measuring the long distance transmission signal through the cable. In order to reduce the jitter, a pre-emphasis technique is applied to compensate the transmitting signal to be attenuated by long distance transmission, and the transmission characteristics were verified according to the distance.

  • Photoacoustic imaging is a hybrid real-time imaging technique that combines high optical contrast and ultrasonic resolution. It has primarily been utilized in pre-clinical research and has evolved into clinical practice. In this paper, we review photoacosutic imaging for detection of primary canccer and metastatis and its limitation in translation from pre-clinical to clinical application.
