This paper presents self tuning PI controller of IPMSM drive using neural network. NNPI controller is developed to minimize overshoot, rise time and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque and inertia. Also, this paper is proposed speed control of IPMSM using neural network and estimation of speed using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.
This paper investigates the electrical characteristics of popular power converters such as a half-bridge rectifier, a full-bridge rectifier, a buck converter, and an inverter when the arc is occurred at the input and the output of each converter. In order to generate an artificial arc, the arc generator has been implemented according to the design guideline suggested in UL1699. After that, the trend of the input and output voltage variation and the switching stress of the devices are analyzed. From the analysis, it has been confirmed that the generated arc causes an uncertain operation to the power converters. To reduce the unexpected disturbance effect of the arc, the capacitor adjustment method has been proposed, and its superiority has been experimentally verified.
Reinforcement learning (RL) has been widely used as a learning mechanism of an artificial life system. However, RL usually suffers from slow convergence to the optimum state-action sequence or a sequence of stimulus-response (SR) behaviors, and may not correctly work in non-Markov processes. In this paper, first, to cope with slow-convergence problem, if some state-action pairs are considered as disturbance for optimum sequence, then they no to be eliminated in long-term memory (LTM), where such disturbances are found by a shortest path-finding algorithm. This process is shown to let the system get an enhanced learning speed. Second, to partly solve a non-Markov problem, if a stimulus is frequently met in a searching-process, then the stimulus will be classified as a sequential percept for a non-Markov hidden state. And thus, a correct behavior for a non-Markov hidden state can be learned as in a Markov environment. To show the validity of our proposed learning technologies, several simulation result j will be illustrated.
Adaptive Optics (AO) is the technology for ground-based telescopes to overcome the interference caused by atmospheric turbulence. We are developing an AO system for the 1-m telescope at Seoul National University Observatory (SNUO). The seeing size of the SNUO is 2 arcseconds on average, and 0.85 arcseconds at best condition. Our system is based on MEMS deformable mirror and Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. We developed the wavefront sensor using a cheap CMOS camera, and measured phase disturbance at SNUO. To verify the performance of the AO system, we designed an artificial phase disturber that produces similar scale phase error, measured at SNUO. We carried out laboratory tests in which the AO system measures and corrects the wavefront using the phase disturber and an F/6 light source, the same as that of SNUO telescope. The control system was developed in C++. The system performs closed-loop PI correction up to 100 Hz at a consumer-grade PC.
This study was conducted for an understanding of a threatened plant species,“Penthorum chinense”, which is a vegetation structure and environmental characteristic in the southern part of Ibaraki, Japan. We selected distribution and contiguity area where P. chinense is not distributed and we set up 69 sites by the quardrat method. The surveyed general characters in each site include mean-height, mean-coverage, moisture condition water depth coverage and depth of litter layer. We calculated the degree of succession by the survey data and grasped the main distribution area, vegetation structure, growth environment of P. chinense by TWINSPAN classification and DCA ordination. The results of this study are as follows. First, P. chinense habitat was categorized into the riverside and abandoned paddy fields. The riverside was influenced by natural disturbance caused by flooding and drought. These conditions led to a poor P. chinense growth. The abandoned paddy fields as the artificial disturbance area have high potential value, because the area can preserve P. chinense growth space by succession control and water management. second, we executed TWINSPAN analysis based on vegetation coverage data of survey sites. The vegetation types were classified into the three categories: annual plant flora(P. chinense dominates in wet state), perennial plant flora(Solidago altissima dominates in dry state), and perennial plant flora(Phragmites communis dominates in wet state). Third, the data was ordinated by DCA. The sample sequences along the first and second DCA axes effectively reflected moisture condition, number of species, mean height, coverage of litter layer and degree of succession. Especially, P. chinense flora has the high correlation with moisture condition and number of species.

Restoration is the process of reducing or reversing damage to an ecosystem so that it can function in its original manner. However, many restoration programs do not achieve this. In the Nakdong Estuary, the largest migratory nesting site in the center of the East Asian-Australasian flyway, an estuarine barrage was constructed in the 1980s that required site restoration following its completion in 1987 and the expansion of several large industrial complexes(Noksan and Jangrim) and a residential development(Myeongji). The goal of the restoration was to restore the function of the wetland to its pre-disturbance state. To achieve this, a restoration program was designed consisting of three stages. The first stage(1993-1995), saw the construction of three artificial wetlands(Shinhori, Daemadeung, and Eulsuk), the second(2003-2005) involved the dredging and returning of farmed lands to their natural state, and the third(2008-2012) focused on the rehabilitation and vegetation development of the wetlands. However, the project has not achieved all of the desired goals, and it is an example of the lapses in ecological restoration following anthropogenic disturbance. Issues that resulted in an incomplete restoration included the timing of the stages, noncompliance with the restoration plan, not directly monitoring the restoration or continuing the monitoring following completion of the development project, and the political subversion of the restoration plan. For the success of the restoration plan, it is necessary to avoid mistakes such as inconsistent monitoring, unequal levels of stakeholder involvement, and political interference.
It has been considered that fishing areas for shrimp beam trawl have been in ruin because Korean local governments have permitted trawling into the areas limited by the fisheries local regulations from 1994. Physical and biological effects of the trawling were investigated in the study. Physical effects were investigated by optical methods such as trawling tracking by side scan sonar and comparing the gear both before and after trawling. Biological aspects were investigated by grab sampling of benthic animals, concentration of trace metals in sediment and a flux evaluation of ${NH_4}^+,\;{PO_4}^-,\;and\;SiO_2$ by coring. The fishing activity had physical impacts on the seabed but these recovered naturally in less than fourty days naturally, which increased the benthic biodiversity, increases the trace metal concentration of and nutrient flux into the seawater, especially phosphate and silicate. This method and these results can help in further studies looking for disturbances by fishing.
Landscape structure, habitat types, vegetation structure and biodiversity in the Bokha stream chosen as a reference stream were investigated to get ecological information necessary for restoration of urban stream degraded by excessive artificial interference. Landscape structure showed a slight change between before and after flooding. Habitat types of nine sorts were identified based on ecological information obtained from field survey such as micro-topography, hydrological characteristics, disturbance regime, and so on. Each habitat holds specific organisms to each site. Consequently, the number of plant communities, and species of benthos and fish increased as the kinds of habitat type increase. Ordination of habitat types based on vegetation, benthos, and fish data reorganized them into three groups of pool types of two kinds depending on whether they are connected to the water course or not and riffle one. Vegetation showed different stratification and species composition depending on topographical position in relation to disturbance cycle. Based on the results from this study, relationship between environmental heterogeneity and biodiversity was discussed and a restoration plan was suggested in a viewpoint of vegetation.
