  • With the development of renewable energy sector, the importance of solar energy is continuously increasing. Solar radiation forecasting is essential to accurately solar power generation forecasting. In this paper, we used time series models (ARIMA, ARIMAX, seasonal ARIMA, seasonal ARIMAX, ARIMA GARCH, ARIMAX-GARCH, seasonal ARIMA-GARCH, seasonal ARIMAX-GARCH). We compared the performance of the models using mean absolute error and root mean square error. According to the performance of the models without exogenous variables, the Seasonal ARIMA-GARCH model showed better performance model considering the problem of heteroscedasticity. However, when the exogenous variables were considered, the ARIMAX model showed the best forecasting accuracy.

  • In this paper, we propose the time series forecasting models for internet traffic with long memory and heteroscedasticity. To control and forecast traffic volume, we first introduce the traffic forecasting models which are determined by the volatility and heteroscedasticity of the traffic. We then analyze and predict the heteroscedasticity and the long memory properties for forecasting traffic volume. Depending on the characteristics of the traffic, Fractional ARIMA model, Fractional ARIMA-GARCH model are applied and compared with the MAPE(Mean Absolute Percentage Error) Criterion.

  • With the rapid growth of internet traffic, accurate and reliable prediction of internet traffic has been a key issue in network management and planning. This paper proposes an autoregressive-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (AR-GARCH) error model for forecasting internet traffic and evaluates its performance by comparing it with seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models in terms of root mean square error (RMSE) criterion. The results indicated that the seasonal AR-GARCH models outperformed the seasonal ARIMA models in terms of forecasting accuracy with respect to the RMSE criterion.

  • This paper applies forecasting models such as ARIMA, Holt-Winters and AR-GARCH models to analyze daily tourism data in Korea. To evaluate the performance of the models, we need single and double seasonal models that compare the RMSE and SE for a better accuracy of the forecasting models based on Armstrong (2001).

  • Through this study, we studied how to consider environment variables (such as temperatures, weekend, holiday) closely related to electricity demand, and how to consider the characteristics of Korea electricity demand. In order to conduct this study, Smoothing method, Seasonal ARIMA model and regression model with AR-GARCH errors are compared with mean absolute error criteria. The performance comparison results of the model showed that the predictive method using AR-GARCH error regression model with environment variables had the best predictive power.

  • ARIMA and ARIMA+IGARCH models are fitted and compared for daily Korean won/US dollar exchange rate data over 17 years. A linear structural change model and an autoregressive structural change model are fitted for multiple change-point estimation since there seems to be structural change with this data.

  • This study is on forecasting the electricity consumption of an industrial manufacturing building called GGM from January 2014 to April 2017. We fitted models using SARIMA, SARIMA + GARCH, Holt-Winters method and ARIMA with Fourier transformation. We also forecasted electricity consumption for one month ahead and compared the predicted root mean square error as well as the predicted error rate of each model. The electricity consumption of GGM fluctuates weekly and annually; therefore, SARIMA + GARCH model considering both volatility and seasonality, shows the best fit and prediction.

  • In this paper, we applied seasonal time series models such as ARIMA, FARIMA, AR-GARCH and Holt-Winters in consideration of seasonality to forecast short-term electricity demand data. The results for performance evaluation on the time series models show that seasonal FARIMA and seasonal Holt-Winters models perform adequately under the criterion of Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE).

  • Forecasting the daily peak load for electricity demand is an important issue for future power plants and power management. We first introduce several time series models to predict the peak load for electricity demand and then compare the performance of models under the RMSE(root mean squared error) and MAPE(mean absolute percentage error) criteria.
