  • This study was investigated the occurrence of sclerotinia rot caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum at the major perilla cultivating area, Gangdong-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan in 1998. The incidence of this disease ranged from 8.1 to 28.3% at Gangdong-dong area during the growing seasons. Symptoms of the disease initially appeared damping-off of infected stems and soft-rot on the leaves of perilla. Under the relatively high humidity, abundant white mycelia of the pathogen formed on the lesion developed into black sclerotia later and the infected leaves were finally fell down. Sixteen isolates, Sl-S16, isolated from diseased lesions showing typical symptoms, and pathogenicity was tested using mycerlial disks. Among them, S2 isolate showing the most strong pathogenicity was selected and identified as Sclerotinia sclerotiorum on the basis of morphological and cultural characteristics. For biological control, an antagonistic bacteria, N4 isolate which effectively inhibited not only mycelial growth of S2 isolate but also suppress sclerotinia rot on the pot assay, was selected and identified as Bacillus megaterium according to Bergey's manual and API system., Wettable powder type, N4 formulation using B. megaterium N4 isolate was developed and estimated its control effect on perilla crops in a plastic house. As a results, N4 formulation which applied before 3 days inoculation of pathogen was effectually controlled Sclerotinia rot as the control value of 98.0%, was more effective than chemical fungicide, benomyl showing the control value of 78.0%. This is the first report of wettable powder formulation as a biocontrol agent using B. megaterium N4 against Sclerotinia rot caused by S. sclerotiorum on perilla.

  • This paper is a study to classify malicious applications in Android environment. And studying the threat and behavioral analysis of malicious Android applications. In addition, malicious apps classified by machine learning were performed as experiments. Android behavior analysis can use dynamic analysis tools. Through this tool, API Calls, Runtime Log, System Resource, and Network information for the application can be extracted. We redefined the properties extracted for machine learning and evaluated the results of machine learning classification by verifying between the overall features and the main features. The results show that key features have been improved by 1~4% over the full feature set. Especially, SVM classifier improved by 10%. From these results, we found that the application of the key features as a key feature was more effective in the performance of the classification algorithm than in the use of the overall features. It was also identified as important to select meaningful features from the data sets.

  • The contamination of Bacillus cereus was investigated in 240 RTE (ready-to-eat) food samples including 118 seafoods, 82 Korean packaged meals and 40 other RTE foods. Many B. cereus presumptive strains were isolated from the enrichment culture in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) added polymyxin, followed by selective culture in Mannitol Egg Yolk Polymyxin (MYP) agar and Gram staining. A total of 36 strains (16 in seafoods, 17 in Korean pack-aged meals and 3 in other RTE foods) were identified as B. cereus by the analysis of 61 biochemical tests of the API 50CHB/20E system test and supplementary tests of $\beta$-hemolysis, rhizoid growth, motility and oxidase activity. The 28 strains out of 36 B. cereus isolates produced diarrhoeal enter-otoxin in Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) broth. All isolates were resistant to ampicillin and penicillin antibiotics, and most of them were susceptible to gentamicin, vancomycin, bacitracin, chloram-phenicol, kanamycin and streptomycin. The growth of B. cereus was affected by environmental temperature and incubation time. Culture with temperature under 1$0^{\circ}C$ effectively restricted the growth of B. cereus.

  • Disposable contact lenses, which are one type of soft contact lenses, provide convenience in use, but also cause various ocular infectious diseases. Microorganisms that cause eye diseases include Acanthamoeba, bacteria, Fungi, and so on. It is impossible to prevent microorganism contamination completely due to the use of hands as wearing contact lenses. The contamination by various microorganisms leads to infectious keratitis, but it is not well known for the exact microorganisms that affect the disease. For this reason, to identify the microorganisms, two groups that are commonly used for disinfection of lenses were divided: normal saline solution and multiple purpose solution. Using these solutions the degree of microorganism contamination was observed according to the days of 1, 3, 5, 10, and 15. Twenty students by two groups from Ophthalmic Optics department at D college in Daegu Metropolitan city participated in the experiment after their ocular health conditions were checked. During they wore one-day disposable lenses for 1, 3, 5, 10, and 15 days, bacteria were cultured in media. The results, which were Gram stained by selecting the cultured colonies, show as followings: Gram positive cocci 33%, Gram-negative cocci 2%, Gram positive bacilli 34%, and the Gram negative bacilli 31%, respectively. As for the identification of potential pathogens, VITEK system and API kit methods were used. Keratitis caused by bacteria known as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa were detected as a result of wearing contact lenses. This study examined the distribution of bacteria as wearing one-day disposable contact lenses and pathogenic bacteria according to the duration of wearing them. In conclusion, the importance of hygiene when using contact lenses is suggested.

  • In order to produce high-quality fermenting composts, a microorganism was isolated from the natural world. The bacterium has not only in high enzyme activities but also had good antimicrobial activities against phytopathogenic microorganisms. Its cultivating characteristics were then investigated. Bacterium KJ-9, which contains high CMCase, protease and chitinase activities and excellent antimicrobial activities against phytopathogenic microorganisms, was separated from leaf mold and identified as Bacillus licheniformis by two methods: Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and API 50 CHL Carbohydrate Test Kit (Bio Merieux, France) using an ATB (Automated Identification) computer system (Bio Merieux, France). Optimal medium for cultivation of B. licheniformis was 2% soluble starch as a carbon source, 0.5% yeast extract as a nitrogen source and 0.05% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$. Optimal growth conditions of pH, temperature and shake speed were pH 7.0, $50^{\circ}C$ and 180 rpm, respectively. Culture broth of B. licheniformis KJ-9 cultured for 36~60 hr was effective in fungicidal activities against plant pathogens including Botrytis cinerea, Corynespora cassicola, Fusarium oxysporum, and Rhizoctonia solani.

  • Android Things is an Android-based platform running in Google's IoT environment. Android smartphones require permissions from application users to use certain features, but in the case of Android Things, there is no display to send request notifications to users. Therefore Does not make a request to use the permissions and automatically accepts the permissions from the system. If the privilege is used indiscriminately, malicious behavior such as system failure or leakage of personal information can be performed by a function which is not related to the function originally. Therefore, By monitoring the privileges that a device uses in an Android-based IoT system, users can proactively respond to security threats that can arise through unauthorized use of the IoT system. This paper proposes a system that manages the rights currently being used by IoT devices in the Android Things based IoT environment, so that Android-based IoT devices can cope with irrelevant use of rights.

  • Many kinds of carbon emission monitoring systems or integrated systems have been developed so far. However, despite of the development of related techniques, they tend to be lack of statistic processing functions for feedback and policy-making data for users. In this study, a new CEMS (Carbon Emission Monitoring System) has been suggested and implemented in Sejong City, Korea. This system adapted automatic remote reading system from the site management agency as data hub to collect the electricity, gas and water usage of each household. The CEMS is consisted of 6 parts; carbon emission measurement, carbon emission standard setup and management, statistic analysis and the incentives. CEMS is distinguished with other systems for its UIs for users and the administrators. Also, data sharing with urban information system(UIS) of local government to produce information for users and policy-makers. This system makes it possible to investigate the change of energy consumption patterns, especially depending on the family structure and the housing characteristics. Furthermore, analyzing their correlation with carbon emission, it is expected to provide basic data used to establish urban environmental policies.

  • In astronomy, the amount of data generated using wide-field optical telescope has increased exponentially. However, the fixed-size small-scale computing environment and the complexity of data analysis tools, results in difficulties to process the massive observation data collected. To resolve this problem, we propose a cloud-based automation system for the efficient processing of the enormous data gathered. The proposed system consists of a Workflow Execution Manager which manages various workflow templates and controls the execution of workflows instantiated from theses templates, and an Elastic Resource Manager that dynamically adds/deletes computing resources, according to the amount of data analysis requests. To show the effectiveness of our proposed system, we exhaustively explored a board spectrum of experiments, like elastic resources allocation, system load, etc. Finally, we describe the best practice case of DEEP-SOUTH scheduling system as an example application.
