Numerically and empirically determination of blasting response of a RC retaining wall under TNT explosive

  • Blast loads may considerably affect the response of structures. In previous years, before computer analysis programs, the parameters of blast effects were calculated with empirical methods, consequently some researchers had proposed equations to find out the phenomenon. In recent year's computer analysis programs have developed already, so detailed solutions can be made numerically. This paper describes the blasting response of the structures using numerical and empirical methods. For the purpose, a reinforced concrete retaining wall is modelled using ANSYS Workbench software, and the model is imported to ANSYS AUTODYN software to perform explicit analyses. In AUTDYN software, a sum of TNT explosive is defined 5,5 m away from the wall and solution is done. Numerical results are compared with those of obtained from empirical equations. Similar study is also considered for equal explosive which is the 4 m away from the wall. The results are represented by graphics and contour diagrams of such as displacements and pressures. The results showed that distance of explosive away from the wall is highly affected the structural response of it.

Mesh and turbulence model sensitivity analyses of computational fluid dynamic simulations of a 37M CANDU fuel bundle

  • Mesh and turbulence model sensitivity analyses have been performed on computational fluid dynamics simulations executed with Hydra and ANSYS Fluent for a single CANadian Deuterium Uranium (CANDU) 37M nuclear fuel bundle placed within a standard pressure tube. The goal of this work was to perform a methodical analysis to objectively determine an appropriate mesh and to gauge the sensitivity of different turbulence models for CANDU subchannel flow under isothermal conditions. The boundary conditions and material properties are representative of normal operating conditions in a high-powered channel of the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. Four meshes were generated with ANSYS Workbench Meshing, ranging from 22 to 84 million cells, and analyzed here to determine an appropriate level of mesh resolution and quality. Five turbulence models were compared in the turbulence model sensitivity analysis: standard k - ε, RNG k - ε, realizable k - ε, SST k - ω, and the Reynolds Stress Model. The intent of this work was to gain confidence in mesh generation and turbulence model selection of a single bundle to inform the decision making of subsequent investigations of an entire fuel channel containing a string of twelve bundles.

  • This study represents numerical study on the thermal and fluid flow characteristics of exhaust gas in a motorcycle muffler. The reference engine was used 124.cc small displacement. Numerical analysis with computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate the exhaust gas that flow into a motorcycle muffler. The STAR-CD S/W used to three dimensional steady state CFD analysis in a muffler. And than We got the information of static pressure it is used to structural analysis ant the first baffle plate using the commercial CAE code ANSYS workbench. Exhaust gas flow third chamber from frist chamber and running second chamber. A simulation result shows that each chamber of muffler temperature is about 460 K, 445 and 463K and pressure is about 22,000 Pa, 16,000 Pa and 10,000 Pa.

  • A Color Discerning Device(CDD) is the equipment to use in Rice Processing Complex(RPC). By use a high-speed charge-coupled device camera, CDD can sorting discolored grain according to light and shade. The existing CDD's driving performance is not so good as overseas machine. Besides, transportation process causes a defect in the mechanism from impact or harmonic excitation or etc. This study is represented the problem of CDD through modal analysis and static analysis by using ANSYS workbench. To analysis the problem of driving condition, devide each part of CDD for performed modal analysis. The problem of driving condition and transportation process solved by carry out modal analysis and static analysis.

  • This study proposes a structural design method for the upper control arm installed at the rear side of a SUV. The weight of control arm can be reduced by applying the design. In this research, the former includes optimization technology, and the latter the technologies for selecting aluminum as a steel-substitute material. Strength assessment is the most important design criterion in the structural design of a control arm. At the proto design stage of a new control arm, FE (finite element) analysis is often utilized to predict its strength. In this study, the kriging interpolation method is adopted to obtain the minimum weight satisfying the strength constraint and durability criteria. The optimum results determined from the in-house program are compared with those of ANSYS WORKBENCH. The durability assessment is obtained by a index of fatigue durability and trial & error method, MSC. Fatigue program.

  • Outer rotor type in-wheel Blushless DC Motor(BLDCM) for three-wheeled electric vehicle is researched. In-wheel system is to drive the electric vehicle without mechanical transmission, shaft, differential gears or other mechanical system. The motor is designed considering the performance requirements and drive modes of the vehicle. The determined dimensions as well as the slot and rotor pole are simulated by magnetic and thermal finite element analysis and ansys workbench to analyze the performance and heating of the motor. In order to verify the performance characteristics of the proposed motor, the experiment tests are executed and satisfy well the requirements.

도어 충격봉의 형상에 따른 구조 해석 (Structural Analysis According to the Configuration of Door Impact Bar)

  • 본 논문에서는 자동차의 도어의 충격봉의 형상에 따른 변형률과 최대응력을 ANSYS Workbench환경을 이용해 원형, 반원형, 모자형 개단면, 정사각형 등의 단면 형상에 따른 변형량 특성을 측정해 본 결과 변형률은 모자형 개단면 모델이 가장 적은 변형률을 가지는 것으로 나왔으며, 무게가 30%정도 적게 나가는 반원형도 두 번째로 적은 변형률을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 최대응력의 경우는 반원형이 가장 적은 최대응력 값을 가지는 것으로 나왔고, 변형률과는 다르게 중심부 보다는 충격봉과 프레임의 연결부위에서 최대응력이 발생하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해서 충격봉의 중심부는 변형률 및 응력이 다른 부분에 비해서 크게 작용하므로, 중앙부위의 단면계수가 높아야 한다.

회귀분석에 의한 모터싸이클 브레이크 디스크의 열변형량에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Deformation Volume of Motorcycle Brake Disk using Regression Analysis)

  • The thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was studied using a disk-on-pad type friction tester. Thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk have an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, sliding distance and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on thermal deformation volume. In this study, the thermal deformation volume with ANSYS workbench are obtained by application of temperature from mechanical test. From this study, the result was shown that the motorcycle break disk with ventilated hole 3 have the most excellent thermal deformation characteristics. The regression equation with frictional factors which have a trust rate of 95% for prediction of thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was composed.

에너지 절감형 전기 유류 겸용 온풍기 개발 (Development of Electrical and Oil Heater for Energy Saving)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the structural stability of hybrid type fan heater. The evaluation of structural safety of hybrid fan heater was conducted by using Ansys Workbench and CFX-11 under the design condition. The hybrid fan heater was operated by heat transfer for heat source supplied from electric heater and combustion gas. According to result of structural analysis, the maximum equivalent stress of hybrid fan heater was 150MPa when the temperature of heat transfer fluids was $150^{\circ}C$. It was found that the hybrid fan was structurally safe because the value of maximum equivalent stress was smaller than that of yield stress of the material.

항공기 프레임 제작을 위한 리벳팅 공정의 구조해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Structure Analysis of Riveting Process for Aircraft Frame Manufacturing)

  • Riveting is mainly used to assemble the aircraft fuselage. An average of 2~3 workers is needed to assemble an aircraft fuselage consisting of various size frames by riveting. In this study, a riveting process that enables one-person operation using an automated C-frame riveting machine was proposed for improving the efficiency of productivity. The proposed process was verified stability through structural analysis. In the range that can maintain structural stability, panel thickness of the riveting machine and shape were modified to optimizing the shape for reducing the weight of the riveting process. The structural analysis was performed by software ANSYS workbench 19.2. The optimized riveting machine was reduced by 257kg compared to the existing model.
