  • The purpose of this study is to develop clothing shopping orientation[CSO] scale reflecting the conceptual structure of CSO. For this purpose, a questionnaire composed of comprehensive 85 CSO items was developed through 2-step preliminary tests. Data was collected from two samples. One sample(n=559) was for scale development and the other sample(n=235) was for cross validity test. Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and confirmatory factor analysis were used for data analysis. For each lower-dimension within the CSO conceptual structure model, 1-2 items were selected based on the quantitative and the qualitative standards. As a result, a CSO scale composed of 31 items was developed, and reliability, construct validity, cross validity, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and criterion validity of the scale were verified. This study has significance in offering the standardized scale to both the academic and the practical fields.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the behavioral, attitudinal, and demographic correlates of light, medium, and heavy users of eating out at family restaurants. Among 358 reponses from the subjects, 224 responses were utilized for the analysis, and 134 responses were reserved for validating the discriminant function. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, stepwise discriminant analysis, canonical discriminant analysis, and anova analysis were used for this study. The findings from this study were as follows: First, He behavioral characteristics were found to discriminate among the three usage groups. Second, it was found that heavy users expressed greater difference between perception and expectation on the quantity of food that are appropriately served and the consistent quality of food at every visit. Third, the usage rate of eating out was not dependent on the sex, but dependent on the companion, average expenditure, and the time of eating out in chi-square test. Finally, the results of the study provide some insight into the pattern of marketing strategies that can be successfully used by the managers of family restaurants.

  • This study investigated the leisure constraints and leisure life satisfaction of the institutional elderly. The respondents were 302 elderly people residing in 5 free institutionalized elderly homes in Seoul. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, One-way ANOVA, Duncan's post hoc test and regression analysis using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the 10 items in the proposed scale could be grouped into four factors of constraint on leisure:'physical constraint','psychological constraint','interpersonal constraint', and 'structural constraint 'There were differences in leisure constraints according to sex, age, education degree, interaction with facility colleagues, and interaction with facility staff. There were differences in leisure life satisfaction according to sex, age, having religion or not, interaction with facility colleagues, interaction with facility staff and leisure constraints. Regression analysis results indicated that the main effective factors of leisure life satisfaction were leisure constraints.

  • The purpose of this study were (1) to segment the female college students according to apparel shopping orientation and (2) to create a profile for each group with regard to impotance of store attributes, use of information sources, and self-image. The questionnaire were administered to the female college students living in Seoul and data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, factor analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA(analysis of variance), and MANOVA(multivariate analysis of variance). By cluster analysis of apparel shopping orientation factors, four groups are identified : (1) highly involved apparel shopper (44.34%), (2) brand-loyal shopper (24.43%), (3) planned / practical shopper, and (4) apathetic shopper (18.10%) Four groups were then compared through MANOVA on importance of store attributes, use of information, and self-image. Significant differences were found among four groups on three variables. In general. highly involved shopper tend not to be price conscious, enjoy shopping and use the information sources most actively and apathetic shoppers tend to be indifferent to apparel shopping and do not actively use the information sources.

  • The purpose of this study were to develop the taxonomy of apparel buying decision approaches and to identify the relationships between the apparel buying decision approaches and the situational characteristics. Data were collected via a questionnaire developed on the previous studies and the focus interview from 425 female college students living at Pusan, and analyzed by Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Analysis of Variance, and Discriminant Analysis. Results indicated that apparel buying decision approaches consisted of eight dimensions and situational characteristics of affecting a particular apparel buying decision approaches were composed of three or five factors. The four types of apparel buying decision approaches were derived by Cluster Analysis and ANOVA: Recreational Shoppers, Brand Conscious Shoppers, Quality Conscious Shoppers, and Apathetic Shoppers. The findings revealed some patterns that were similar to previous studies and was useful to marketing managers who can view their customer segments in terms of the types in the taxonomy. Further, it provided a tool by which sales representatives can develop adaptive selling approaches based on a small set of buying situation and corresponding apparel buying decision approaches.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure middle-aged men's bodies around the ages of thirty-five through fifty-five, whose age-group undergoes drastic changes on their body shapes, and to reveal their physical characteristics by comparing the measurements. Sixty Body measurements were taken on 168 subjects. Statistics analysis of data used Oneway Anova, Correlation, Fator Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Crosstabs. Body shapes are grouped based on the measurements, and TypeI is characterized by small and middle-sized body shapes. Tall and obese body shapes belong to TypeII. Lastly, TypeIII is characterized by body shapes with very tall height and obesity, especially around the abdomen area.

  • Statistical differences between men and women are investigated for a total of eleven joint motions during level walking. Human locomotion which exhibits nonlinear dynamical behaviors is quantified by the chaos analysis. Time series of joint motions was obtained from gait experiments with ten young males and ten young females. Body motions were captured using eight video cameras, and the corresponding angular displacements of the neck and the upper body and lower extremity were computed by motion analysis software. The maximal Lyapunov exponents for eleven joints were calculated from attractors constructed and then were analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA test to find any difference between the genders. This study shows that sexual differences in joint motions were statistically significant at the shoulder, knee and hip joints.

  • This study verifies the validity of the role-relaxed consumption scale developed by Kahle (1995b) for Korean consumers. This study also tests a model that includes consumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence along with attention to social comparison information as antecedents and their relationships. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul, Korea, using convenience sampling, and 600 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. Correlation analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA and path analysis were conducted in order to analyze the data. It was proved that the role-relaxed consumption scale was effective for Korean consumers. A path analysis showed that consumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence and attention to social comparison information influence role-relaxed consumption.
