  • The two-shot SLS method has recently been successfully implemented in volume manufacturing of advanced LTPS-based LCDs. In this presentation, we discuss how the approach is also well suited for being implemented in high-throughput and high-yield manufacturing of large AMOLED displays on large glass substrates.

  • A simple voltage compensation pixel circuit for AMOLED is produced using low temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology. Its operation is verified by AIM-SPICE. Simulation results show that the pixel circuit has high immunity to variation of LTPS-TFT and reduces the drop in luminance due to the degradation of the OLED.

  • A modified Time-Ratio Gray Scale AMOLED drive technique is described in which the frame period is split into two half-frames, each of which is divided into binary weighted sub-frames and driven in the conventional time-ratio manner. The proposed technique improves aperture ratio by reducing TFT sizes in pixel circuits.

  • The AMOLED industry must compete with AMLCD displays by standardizing around scaleable technology platforms that deliver display-performance and manufacturing-cost goals. Kodak White OLED device rchitectures have the potential to achieve the best performance and cost tradeoffs. Here we describe the building blocks necessary for delivering effective AMOLED mass production technologies.

  • Recently, interest in AMOLED (Active Matrix OLED) panels has been growing with the development of displays used in each device. Therefore, the demand for the inspection equipment required for production is spreading, and therefore, efficient design is required to operate a plurality of signal generators. In this paper, we propose a central server management system for signal generators. The proposed system includes a method for driving an AMOLED panel, and the timing and power setting results are presented. Thus, it is possible to cope with loss or alteration of data, and it is believed that stable and smooth communication is possible.

  • As a first demonstration of proven stability for a-Si, over 7000h of stability data for a high drive current a-Si AMOLED pixel driver circuit was presented at SID 2004. Also demonstrated was an AMOLED display operating at 6V using the IGNIS 4-T pixel driver circuit [1] and based on a top-emission reverse OLED architecture. In this paper, an update to that information is presented with test data that is representative of lifetime in excess of 25,000 hours taking into account pertinent acceleration factors, extracted from high current drive and high temperature stressing conditions. Lifetimes will continue to increase, given the high and ever-increasing OLED efficiency.

  • A voltage-programming pixel circuit, which compensates the threshold voltage shift of TFTs and the degradation of OLED, is proposed for large sized a-Si:H active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) applications. Considering threshold voltage variation (or shift), OLED degradation and reverse bias annealing, HSPICE simulation results indicate that luminance error of every gray level is less than 0.4 LSB under the condition of +1V threshold voltage shift and from -0.2 LSB to 2.6 LSB within 30% degradation of OLED in the case of 40-inch full HDTV condition.

  • We propose a novel n-type a-Si:H TFT pixel circuit which is proper to AMOLED display for the large size and high resolution. Proposed pixel circuit will be suit to panel for the high resolution because of different threshold sampling method. Driving method of proposed pixel circuit is very simple like an AMLCD. Our simulation indicates that the proposed pixel circuit can compensate the Vth shift and IR rising of power line so that provide better quality image.

  • We have developed a 2 inch LTPS-TFT AMOLED display with a top emission structure on a $50-{\mu}m-thick$ metal foil. The Active matrix back planes were fabricated with the p-channel LTPS TFT with a conventional pixel circuit consisting of 2 transistors and 1 capacitance. The p-channel TFTs on the metal foil exhibited the field-effect mobility of $22cm^2/Vs$. Finally, a images from prototype monochrome AMOLED displays are successfully presented, with $64{\times}88$ pixels and 56-ppi resolution.

  • A structure and a design of device were developed to fabricate large-scale active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display with good color purity and high aperture ratio. With these technologies, we developed a full color 14.1 inch WXGA AMOLED display. For the integration of OLED on an active matrix a-Si TFT backplane, an efficient top emission OLED is essential since the TFT circuitry covers a large position of the pixel aperture. These technologies will enable up the OLED applications to larger size displays such as desktop monitors and TVs.
