  • A dynamic model of proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) system is designed to understand the performance of the PEMFC in residential power generator(RPG) over various balance of plant(BOP) options. In particular, since the performance of PEMFC system should be optimized for given operating ranges, it is necessary to design suitable BDP components which can support the operating ranges. The objective of this study is to develop a dynamic system model for the study of PEMFC performance over various BOP options. Therefore, a dynamic model is composed of a PEMFC stack model, a water management system model, a thermal management system model and a fuel/air supply model and the model is integrated under SIMULINK(R)environment. Basic simulation results will be presented.

  • In this paper, we developed the dynamic model of a fuel cell system suitable for controller design and system operation. The transient phenomena captured in the model include the flow characteristics and inertia dynamics of the compressor, the intake manifold filling dynamics, oxygen partial pressures and membrane humidity on the fuel cell voltage. In the simulations, we paid attention to the transient behavior of stack voltage and compressor pressure, stoichiometric ratio. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the model capability. For load current following, stack voltage dynamic characteristics are plotted to understand the Electro-chemistry involved with the fuel cell system. Compressor pressure and stoichiometric ratio are strongly coupled, and independent parameters may interfere with each other, dynamic response, undershoot and overshoot.

  • In this paper, the problem of transonic aerodynamic characteristics of a NACA0012 airfoil is numerically investigated in the inviscid gas-droplet two-phase flow with the compressible two-fluid model. In the present study, the airfoil flight in the cloud is simulated by taking account of the viscous drag of the droplets, the heat transfer, the phase change, and the droplet fragmentation The two-fluid equation system is solved by the fractional-step method and the WAF-HIL scheme. The effects of size and volume fraction of the droplets on the flow characteristics of the airfoil in the cloud are elaborated and discussed.

  • Many studies for improving a scavenging efficiency have been executed by using simulative manner. This paper addresses to a scavenging process in a uniflow two stroke cycle engine. The Processes are simulated for scavenging pressure variation, after the assessment of turbulent models. The results have shown that employing RNG k-$\varepsilon$ model gave more accurate velocity profiles near the cylinder wall compared with the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model and the charged fresh air has increased with the scavenging pressure increase.

• A model for the prediction of combustion and exhaust emissions of DI diesel engine has been formulated and developed. This model is a quasi-dimensional phenomenological one and is based on multi-zone combustion modelling concept. This model is developed based on the concept of Hiroyasu's multizone combustion models. It takes nozzle injection (spray) parameters, induction swirl into consideration and the models of zone velocity, air entrainment, fuel droplet evaporation and mixture combustion are upgraded. Various parameters, such as cylinder pressure, heat release rate, Nox and soot emission, and these parameters in the zone are simulated. The results are compared with the experimental ones, too.

  • The pressure distribution and heat transfer coefficient were measured at room temperature in the high suspension density CFB heat exchanger with multiple vertical tubes and the effective density of CFB was determined. The theoretical model for predicting heat transfer coefficient was developed in this study. The model predictions were compared with the measured heat transfer coefficient to show relatively good agreement between them.

  • The supply outdoor airflow rates are calculated and analyzed using a multizone network model in a high-rise residential apartment. The system parameters include parameters related to weather conditions, building conditions, operation conditions, and facility conditions. Simulations are conducted according to the method of design of experiments and analysis of variance is conducted to investigate the effects of parameters on ventilation rate. A correlation equation is derived to predict ventilation rates of the building depending on the various parameters.

  • Representation of product data for exchanging and sharing a plant information was established the International Standard by ISO 10303 (STEP) and ISO 15926, but is not used widely in industrial circles by massiveness of standard and complexity of plant itself Specially, they are embodied to STEP data file(ISO 10303 Parts 21), but STEP file is uncomfortable that a person recognizes, and needs specification creation tool. In this paper, we made the integration schema for control valve through related standards, Also, we suggest the practical use framework for electronic commerce to utilize the XML schema that can represents integrate schema of control valve to use XML that is becoming the latest issue.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of a main transformer in a tilting train, the optimal operation of a cooling system is necessary. For the development of optimal control algorithms of a cooling system, mathematical models of a main transformer cooling system were developed. These include dynamic models of a main transformer, an oil pump, an oil cooler, a blower, and a pipe. Control algorithms for a blower and an oil pump were selected in order to identify the effectiveness of dynamic models. A simulation program was developed by using the developed dynamic models and the selected control algorithms. Simulation results showed good predictions of dynamic behaviors of a main transformer cooling system. Therefore, dynamic models, which were developed in this study, may be effectively used to develop control algorithms of a main transformer cooling system.
