Model Development of Daily and Hourly Energy Load for Department Stores (백화점 건물의 에너지 부하모델 개발)

  • Case study was peformed to analyze energy load for department stores and develop energy load model to be applied to a cogeneration system. Energy loads of 14 departments were analyzed based on energy load sheets written by operators and energy load of one department store was measured through modem communication for a year. Energy load of department stores shows various variations depending on when they are opened or closed and, hours, days and months. In this paper, the measurement was compared with data in energy load sheets and resolved, and energy load model for a department store was built. It is important to use an accurate energy load model for an accurate feasibility study applying a cogeneration system to buildings.

  • Drying of Shiitake mushroom was investigated to see the effect of temperature, relative humidity of drying air and diameter of the pileus on its rates. The drying rate was increased with the increase of the air temperature and the decrease of the relative humidity. The external color was dark brown at higher drying temperature and higher relative humidity. Exponential and Thompson nodel were found to describe well the raying process of the Shiitake mushroom.

  • A combustion model for the incineration of municipal solid waste(MSW) in the stoker type incinerator was developed by considering the variation of physical composition of MSW. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation for the combustion characteristics in incinerator were conducted by using the present model and the effects of compositional variation on the incineration characteristics of MSW was examined theoretically. It is found that large excess air enhances drying, but depresses volatilization. For the large value of moisture content, pyrolysis is fast but drying is slow. As the value of plastic content increases, devolatilization becomes slower. Larger amount of primary air supply to the rear side of stoker leads to increase the possibility of delaying the combustion.

  • 석탄가스화복합발전소내 공기분리장치와 연계된 가스터빈 공기압축기의 성능병화를 예측할 수 있는 해석방법을 제안하였다. 공기분리장치와 연계된 가스터빈용 공기압축기의 성능변화는 유선곡률방법과 압력손실모델을 결합한 해석방법을 사용하였으며, 예측결과들을 실제 압축기성능 시험 결과와 비교하여 예측정확도를 검증하였다. 제안된 압축기성능 해석방법을 근간으로, 압축기와 공기분리장치의 연계조건인 열교환기의 핀치포인트 온도차, 추출공기량 및 추출 공기압력이 압축기 성능변화에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 예측하였다. 공기추출량이 늘어나거나 핀치포인트 온도차가 커질수록, 압축기의 압축비 및 소요동력은 증가하나, 압축기 효율은 공기추출량의 증가에 따라 고압공기추출시에는 저하되고, 저압공기추출시에는 향상되었다. 더 나아가, 압축기의 일반화된 성능특성곡선의 제시를 통해, 압축기 효율을 극대화 할 수 있는 압축기/공기분리장치 간 연계조건의 최적화를 시도하였다.

  • 기포 펌프는 물과 공기 사이의 접촉 면적을 증가시켜 공기로부터 물로의 산소 용해를 높이는 기능을 가지고 있다. 이 연구에서는 기포 펌프에서 여러 가지 흐름 패턴을 설정하고, 이것을 근거로 하여 슬립모델을 확립하여, 기포 펌프의 산소 용해 특성을 조사하였다. 이 연구에서 수행한 실험 결과로부터, 산소 전달 계수는 흐름 패턴(기포 흐름, 기포-슬러그 흐름, 슬러그 흐름)에는 상당한 영향을 받았으나, 시료수의 오염 정도에 따른 영향은 그다지 크지 않음을 확인하였다. 그리고, 산소 전달양은 레이놀즈 수에 비례하여 증가하며, 산소 전달면을 증가시키기 위해서는 에어 스톤이나 디퓨저의 이용이 매우 효과적임을 확인하였다. 또한, 표면 활성 물질은 물의 오염 정도나 흐름 패턴에 관계없이 산소 전달에 큰 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다.

  • A comprehension-based computational model of pilot action planning called ADAPT is presented to model pilot performance in a flight simulation context. Individual pilots were asked to execute a series of flight maneuvers using a flight simulator, and their eye-scanning, control movements, and flight performance were recorded in a time-synched database. Computational models of each of the 25 individual pilots were constructed, and the individual models simulated execution of the same flight maneuvers performed by human pilots. The time-synched eye-scanning, control movements, and flight performance of individual pilots and their respective models were compared to test ADAPT's predictive validity.

  • A simple analytic model is proposed here to analyze the concentration deficit field caused by a large area of vegetated area. With non-dimensional deposition velocity chosen as small parameter, the regular perturbation method is exploited to derive the mass balance equation and the dynamic equations for the concentration deficit field, Analytic solutions to those equations are obtained in a closed form for several cases of interest, assuming that the concentration field is stationary and the plume can be nicely approximated as Gaussian for a point source. The results suggest that quite a negligible fraction (less than 1%) of the gaseous air pollutants emitted into the air is removed by the vegetated area of which width is 4 km in wind-wise direction, the typical dimension of the Restricted Development Zones around the metropolitan regions in South Korea.

  • Departure Manager (DMAN) is a tool to optimize the departure sequence and to suggest appropriate take-off time and off-block time of each departure aircraft to the air traffic controllers. To that end, Variable Taxi Time (VTT), which is time duration of the aircraft from the stand to the runway, should be estimated. In this paper, a study for development of VTT prediction algorithm based on machine learning techniques is presented. The factors affecting aircraft taxi speeds were identified through the analysis of historical traffic data on the airport surface. The prediction model suggested in this study consists of several sub-models that reflect different types of surface maneuvers based on the analysis result. The prediction performance of the proposed method was evaluated using the actual operational data.

  • In this paper the structure of an engine and its interaction are investigated by a mathematical model for the performance evaluation. The total system is composed of air-fuel inlet element, intake manifold, combustion, engine dynamics and emission. Their control functions are schematically evaluated. Because of the model constructure with general engine functions and computer simulation of the chosen engine, physical characteristics of the corresponding engine and the engine data of normal operation states are used. According to the study, it is possible to predict the mixture rate by the difference in the mass of fuel and air flowing into cylinder and to evaluate and trace dynamic characteristic of operation state under various operating conditions. The model characteristic under the transient operating condition to evaluate operating of actual engine through the result of simulation.

Drying Characteristics of Garlic (마늘의 건조특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to find out drying characteristics and develop drying model for the design of an efficient dryer or drying system of garlic. The basic model which describes drying phenomenon of garlic was first established. A series of drying test were conducted with two varieties of garlic(Uiseong, Namdo) at 9-different drying conditions (drying temperatures ; $40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, relative humidities ; 20%, 35%, 50%) and statistical analysis was made to fit the data with exponential equation, approximated diffusion equation, page equation, thompson equation and wang equation, respectively. In this test, the effects of drying air temperature and relative humidity on the drying rate were undertaken. Finally, new drying model based on these experimental results was developed to describe the drying characteristics of garlic. Also, the volatile components of garlic extracts were investigated. For experiment both Uisoeng and Namdo garlic were dried by heated-air-drying, followed by ether extraction. The extracts were analysed by Gas chromatography/Mass spectrometer.
