To cope with automobile exhaust gas regulations, ISG and charging control systems are applied to HEV vehicles for the purpose of improving fuel economy. These systems require quick charge-discharge performance of high current. Therefore, a Module of the AGM battery with high energy density and EDLC(Electric Double Layer Capacitor) with high power density are constructed to study the charging and discharging behavior. In CCA, which evaluates the starting performance at -18 ℃ & 30 ℃ with high current, EDLC contributed for about 8 sec at the beginning. At 0 ℃ CA (Charge Acceptance), the initial Charging current of the AGM/EDLC Module, is twice that of the AGM lead acid battery. To play the role of EDLC during high-current rapid charging and discharging, the condition of the AGM lead-acid battery is optimally maintained. As a result of a Standard of Battery Association of Japan (SBA) S0101 test, the service life of the Module of the AGM Lead Acid Battery/EDLC is found to improve by 2 times compared to that of the AGM Lead Acid Battery.

We studied the effect of battery deep cycle according to the way of active materials formation and the creation condition of electrode material, 3BS ($3PbO{\cdot}PbSO_4{\cdot}H_2O$) and 4BS ($4PbO{\cdot}PbSO_4$), in order to develop the batteries for Idle Stop & Go system. During the curing with active materials of anode and cathode, we found that the final creased active material was deformed by temperature control and it effects the durability of batteries. AGM battery and Flooded battery with 3BS active materials have excellent initial performance. And AGM battery with 4BS active materials shows the lower performance relatively. To compare and analyze of the formation efficiency of active materials, we tested the formation chagging steps with 3 steps and 9 steps differently. The results are that AGM battery with 4BS active materials is better on initial performance than AGM battery with 3BS. After the comparison of durability by DOD 17.5% life test, AGM battery is more suitable than flooded battery for the ISG system which needs the frequent deep cycle. In conclusion, AGM battery is the most suitable for ISG system and the life performance shows 80% difference according to the way of formation and curing of AGM batteries.
Recent in the world environmental issues and energy depletion problems have been received attention. One way to solve these problems is to use hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Therefore, the interest in HEV technology is higher than ever before. Viable candidates for the energy-storage systems in HEV applications may be absorbent glass mat (AGM) lead-acid, nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-MH) and rechargeable lithium batteries. The AGM battery has advantages in terms of relatively low cost, high charge efficiency, low self-discharge, low maintenance requirements and safety as compared to the other batteries. In order to implement HEV system in required more electric power commercial vehicles AGM batteries was connected to 2 series-2 parallels (2S2P). In this study, a one-dimensional modeling is carried-out to predict the behaviors of 2S2P AGM batteries system during charge and discharge. The model accounts for electrochemical reaction rates, charge conservation and mass transport. In order to validate the model, modeling results are compared with the experimentally measured data in various conditions.
These experiments were carried out to compared with components of AGM and raw beef. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1) In proximate compositions of raw beef and AGM, water, protein, and fat were 71.21% and 48.47%, 29.35% and 21.85%, 5.36% and 14.95%, respectively. 2) Total amounts of amino acids of AGM were higher than raw beef, and glutamic acid was the highest in both, but methionine was the lowest in AGM, and cystine, in raw beef. 3) In fatty acids composition, unsaturated fatty acids were 90.4%, and linoleic acid (57.63%), among them, was the highest in AGM. But in raw beef, saturated fatty acids were 35.2%, and oleic acid, among them, was the highest content.

To investigate the beneficial effects of an agar gel mask (AGM) on UV-induced photoaging, SKH-1 hairless mice were treated with a topical application of AGM and an AGM dipped in essence (AGMdE). The mice were divided into an no radiation group, UV + AGM, UV + AGMdE, and UV + vehicle (PBS) treatment groups. Alterations in skin wrinkles, skin phenotype, histological structures, oxidative status, and toxicity were then evaluated during 4 weeks of exposure. The topical application of AGM and AGMdE inhibited wrinkle formation, suppressed the erythema index, prevented transepidermal water loss, and enhanced skin hydration. In addition, epidermal thickness recovered to a similar level as that in the no irradiation group in the UV + AGM and UV + AGMdE treatment groups compared with the UV + vehicle (distilled water) group. Furthermore, the expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and tyrosinase were reduced in the UV + AGM and UV + AGMdE treatment groups, although the highest level varied. Moreover, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was significantly lower in the UV + AGM and UV + AGMdE treatment groups as compared with the UV + vehicle group. No significant alterations induced by most toxic compounds were measured in serum biochemical markers and liver and kidney histological features of the UV + AGM and UV + AGMdE treatment groups. These results suggest that AGM may protect against skin aging by regulating skin morphology, histopathological structures, and oxidative conditions.

We found that we could manage the crystal size of active material by controlling the temperature on curing procedure which is one of the process to produce lead acid battery. The active material causes to improve initial efficiency and durability for the batteries. 3BS from the active materials after curing process is better for initial efficiency. 4BS is not good for the initial efficiency but is better than 3BS in durability by 48%. Accroding to our test results of DOD17.5% life test which is for evaluating of automobile applied ISG system, it is not suitable for flooded lead acid battery which is used for the normal automobil but it is proper to AGM lead acid battery.

Nano seed incorporated in micro-sized 4BS (Tetrabasic lead Sulfate) seed was applied to the positive electrode active material and compared with Nano 4BS seed (NS). The dispersion of NS decreased due to the aggregation phenomenon, while the nano seed incorporated in micro-sized 4BS seed (INS) could confirm excellent dispersion. As the content of INS increased, the particle size of the active material became small and constant, which was confirmed through SEM and particle size analysis. The specific surface area for the reaction was increased and the high-rate discharge and lifetime characteristics were improved. In order to confirm the variation in particle size distribution in the plate manufacturing process, internal resistance and voltage were measured for 200 AGM lead-acid batteries, and it was confirmed that batteries quality variation decreased.

To cope with automobile exhaust gas regulations, ISG (Idling Stop & Go) and charging control systems are applied to HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) for the purpose of improving fuel economy. These systems require quick charge/discharge performance at high current. To satisfy this characteristic, improvement of the positive electrode plate is studied to improve the charge/discharge process and performance of AGM(Absorbent Glass Mat) lead-acid batteries applied to ISG automotive systems. The bonding between grid and A.M (Active Material) can be improved by applying the Sand-Blasting method to provide roughness to the surface of the positive grid. When the Sand-Blasting method is applied with conditions of ball speed 1,000 rpm and conveyor speed 5 M/min, ideal bonding is achieved between grid and A.M. The positive plate of each condition is applied to the AGM LAB (Absorbent Glass Mat Lead Acid Battery); then, the performance and ISG life characteristics are tested by the vehicle battery test method. In CCA, which evaluates the starting performance at -18 ℃ and 30 ℃ with high current, the advanced AGM LAB improves about 25 %. At 0 ℃ CA (Charge Acceptance), the initial charging current of the advanced AGM LAB increases about 25 %. Improving the bonding between the grid and A.M. by roughening the grid surface improves the flow of current and lowers the resistance, which is considered to have a significant effect on the high current charging/discharging area. In a Standard of Battery Association of Japan (SBA) S0101 test, after 300 A discharge, the voltage of the advanced AGM LAB with the Sand-Blasting method grid was 0.059 V higher than that of untreated grid. As the cycle progresses, the gap widens to 0.13 V at the point of 10,800 cycles. As the bonding between grid and A.M. increases through the Sand Blasting method, the slope of the discharge voltage declines gradually as the cycle progresses, showing excellent battery life characteristics. It is believed that system will exhibit excellent characteristics in the vehicle environment of the ISG system, in which charge/discharge occurs over a short time.
These experiments were carried out to study the factors affecting quality and textural characteristics in the preparation of artificial gluten meat (AGM). Effects of amounts of ingredients on properties of AGM were summarized as follows: 1. The more amounts of water increased, the higher L and b values became, and AGM, therefore, became bright and yellow in color. The more increased the amount of water, the more decreased shear force, hardness and chewiness, but the water holding capacity increased. The 100% of water added sample approached to raw beef in L value, $\Delta$0E, hardness and chewiness. 2. The mixing ratio of walunt and com oil more affected on color than on texture, and the proper ratio was 30% of walunt and 10% of oil. 3. In the case of interactions of oil and water, water amounts affected more on color, shear force, chewiness and the water holding capacity than on oil. AGM mixed with the ratio of 10% of oil and 100% of water approached to raw beef.
State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH) are the key issues for the application of Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) type battery in Idle Start Stop (ISS) system which is popularly integrated in Electric Vehicles (EVs). However, battery parameters strongly depend on SOC, current rate and temperature and significantly change over the battery life cycles. In this research, a novel method for SOC, SOH estimation which combines the Auto Regressive with external input (ARX) method using for online parameters prediction and Dual Extended Kalman Filter (DEKF) algorithm considering hysteresis is proposed. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by the simulation and experiments.
