Effect of Ag Capping Layer on the Emission Characteristics of Transparent Organic Light-emitting Devices with Ca/Ag Double-layer Cathodes

  • We have investigated the effects of an Ag capping layer on the emission characteristics of transparent organic light-emitting devices with Ca/Ag double-layer cathodes. The thickness of the Ag layer was varied from 10 to 30 nm, whereas the Ca was fixed to be a 10 nm in the Ca/Ag structure. The luminance and current efficiency on the cathode and anode sides are significantly dependent on the Ag thickness. For example, the current efficiency on the anode side increases from 8.4 to 11.7 cd/A, whereas, on the cathode side, it decreases from 3.2 to 0.2 cd/A as the Ag thickness increases from 10 to 30 nm. These changes in emission characteristics were investigated by measuring electroluminescence, transmission, and reflection spectra.

  • The results of investigations of Ag2Se single crystal are presented. $Ag_2Se$ crystal was grown by the Bridgman method. The $Ag_2Se$ single crystal was an orthorhombic structure with lattice constance $a=4.333{\AA}$, $b=7.062{\AA}$, $c=7.764{\AA}$. Hall effect shows a n-type conductivity in the $Ag_2Se$ single crystal. The electrical resistivity was $1.25{\times}10^3ohm^{-1}^cm{-1}$ and electron mobility was $-5.48{\times}10^3cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$ at room temperature(RT).

Properties of Blocking Layer with Ag Nano Powder in a Dye Sensitized Solar Cell

  • We prepared a working electrode (WE) with a blocking layer (BL) containing 0 ~ 0.5 wt% Ag nano powders to improve the energy conversion efficiency (ECE) of dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC). FESEM and micro-Raman were used to characterize the microstructure and phase. UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy was employed to determine the adsorption of the WE with Ag nano powders. A solar simulator and a potentiostat were used to confirm the photovoltaic properties of the DSSC with Ag nano powders. From the results of the microstructural analysis, we confirmed that Ag nano powders with particle size of less than 150 nm were dispersed uniformly on the BL. Based on the phase and adsorption analysis, we identified the existence of Ag and found that the adsorption increased when the amount of Ag increased. The photovoltaic results show that the ECE became 4.80% with 0.3 wt%-Ag addition compared to 4.31% without Ag addition. This improvement was due to the increase of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of the BL resulting from the addition of Ag. Our results imply that we might be able to improve the efficiency of a DSSC by proper addition of Ag nano powder to the BL.

Ag Doping Effect on Li[Ni0.2Li0.2Mn0.6]O2 Cathode Material (Li[Ni0.2Li0.2Mn0.6]O2 양극물질의 Ag 도핑(Doping) 효과)

  • Ag doping effect on $Li[Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ cathode material was studied. Specially, we focused on rate performance of Ag doped samples. The $Li[Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ powder was prepared by simple combustion method and the Ag was doped using $AgNO_3$ during gelation process. Based on X-ray diffraction analysis, there was no structural change by Ag doping, but the 'metallic' form of Ag was included in the doped powder. Both bare and Ag 1 wt.% doped sample showed similar discharge capacity of 242 mAh/g at 0.2C rate. However, as the increase of charge-discharge rate to 3C, Ag 1 wt.% doped sample showed higher discharge capacity (172 mAh/g) and better cyclic performance than those of bare sample. The discharge capacity of Ag 5 wt.% doped sample was relatively low at all rate condition. However it displayed better rate performance than other samples.

  • This study was a study on an facilitated transport membrane to replace the cryogenic separation method currently used in olefin/paraffin separation. Cost reduction is also a very important factor to commercialize facilitated transport membranes. However, AgBF4, which has been studied a lot, is a relatively expensive silver salt. To replace this, a PEBAX-2533/ AgCF3SO3/Al(NO3)3 composite film was prepared using relatively inexpensive AgCF3SO3. It was analyzed through SEM, FT-IR, and RAMAN. Through this study, it was confirmed that the polymer matrix affects the long-term stability.

A Study on the Exothermic Properties of ITO/Ag/ITO Multilayer Transparent Electrode Depending on Metal Layer Thickness (금속층 두께에 따른 ITO/Ag/ITO 다층 투명 전극의 발열 특성 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated the optical, electrical and exothermic characteristics of ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer structures prepared with various Ag thicknesses on quartz and PI substrates. The transparent conducting properties of the ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films depended on the thickness of the mid-layer metal film. The ITO/Ag (14 nm)/ITO showed the highest Haccke's figure of merit (FOM) of approximately 19.3×10-3 Ω-1. In addition, the exothermic property depended on the substrate. For an applied voltage of 3.7 V, the ITO/Ag (14 nm)/ITO multilayers on quartz and PI substrates were heated up to 110℃ and 200℃, respectively. The bending tests demonstrated a comparable flexibility of the ITO/Ag/IT multilayer to other transparent electrodes, indicating the potential of ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer as a flexible transparent conducting heater.

Electrical Conductance and Electrode Reaction of $RbAg_4I_5$ Single Crystals (고체전해질 $RbAg_4I_5$ 단결정의 전기전도성과 전극반응)

  • The electrical conductivity of solid electrolyte $RbAg_4I_5$ single crystal was studied at various temperatures. The four-probe method was used in measuring the conductance with an ac signal imposed on the specimen. The ionic conductivity was $0.284 ohm^{-1} cm^{-1}\;at\;25^{\circ}C$, and the activation energy for $Ag^+$ ion migration was calulated to be 1.70 kcal/mole. These values agree well with those reported for polycrystalline samples. Reactions at $Ag/RbAg_4I_5$ interface were studied by cyclic voltammetry with a silver reference electrode. It was found that silver ion is reversibly reduced at silver surfaces below zero volt, and iodide was oxidized above +0.67 volt.The anodic current arising from the oxidation of the electrode was small in magnitude initially over a wide range of potential, but, after silver was cathodically deposited on the electrode, reversing the potential sweep to the anodic direction resulted in a sharp peak of anodic current.

  • 본 논문에서는 비정질-결정질간 가역적 상변화 기록 매질로 이용되고 있는 $(Ag_{5.5}In_{6.5}Sb_{59}Te_{29})$ 합금 박막의 Ag 조성 증가에 따른 원자구조와 상변화 특성간의 상관관계를 연구하였다. 실험에 사용된 AgInSbTe 조성은 5N의 금속 파우더를 용융-냉각법으로 벌크를 제작하였고 열증착 방법으로 Si (100) 및 유리(corning glass, 7059) 기판위에 200 nm 두께로 박막을 증착하였다. 비정질 박막의 결정화속도를 평가하기 위해서 658 nm의 LD가 장착된 나노-펄스 스캐너를 이용하여 power; 1~17mW, pulse duration; 10~460 ns의 범위에서 각 조성의 상변화에 따른 반사도 차이를 측정, 비교 분석하였다. 또한 각각의 박막을 $100^{\circ}C$ 에서 $300^{\circ}C$까지 $50^{\circ}C$ 간격으로 $N_2$ 분위기에서 1시간동안 열처리 한 후 XRD와 UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer를 사용하여 각 상의 구조분석 및 광학적 특성을 분석하였으며, 4-point probe로 면저항을 측정하였다.

Crystal Growth Sensor Development of II-VI Compound Semiconductor : CdS (II-VI족 화합물 반도체의 결정성장 및 센서 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with the crystal growth and the optical characteristics of CdS thin films activatedby silver. CdS:Ag thin films were deposited by using an electron beam evaporation(EBE) technique in vacuumof 1.5X 10-'torr, voltage of 4 kV, current of 2.5 mA and substrate temperature of 250$^{\circ}$C CdS:Ag photoconductivefilms prepared by EBE method show high photoconductivity after annealing at about 550"c for 0.5 h in air andAr gas.The grain size of CdS:Ag thin films annealed in Ar atmosphere (1 atm) was grown over 1 ym and the thicknessof the films is 4-5 pm. The analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns shows that the crystal structures are hexagonal.The diffraction line by (00.2) plane can only be observed, indicating that c-axis of hexagonal grows preferentiallyperpendicular to the substrate. The profiles of photoluminescence spectra of CdS:Ag films show Gaussian typecurves at room temperature, the maximum peak spectral sensitivity of CdS:Ag is located at the wavelength of520 nm.We annealed CdS:Ag thin films in air and Ar vapor in order to make the CdS photoconductors having theintensive photocurrent, the broad distribution of the photocurrent spectrum and the large value of the ratioof the photocurrent (pc) to the dark current(dc). We found that CdS:Ag thin films annealed in air atmospherewas the best one.air atmosphere was the best one.

Molecular Systematics of Rhizoctonia solani Isolates from Various Crops with AFLP (AFLP를 이용한 Rhizoctonia solani 균주들의 분자계통학적 특성규명)

  • Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn[Thanatephorus cucumeris (Frank) Donk]is a destrutive soil-borne plant pathogen affecting many agricultural crops worldwide. R. solani is divided into anastomosis groups based on the ability of the hyphae to fuse, and into subgroups based on morphological, physiological characteristics. AG classifications are convenient and useful in identifying primary causal agents of Rhizoctonia diseases, although the mechanism of anastomosis is not fully understood. Beacause of the difficulties, we sought to develop a more direct method for genetic identification and charaterization of R. solani. Twenty nine isolates of R. solani were used for the analysis of genetic relationships among themselves and for rapid anastomosis grouping with AFLP method. All isolates studied were divided into five groups. Isolate 6 was included in AG-3 with 67% genetic similarity. When isolates 3 was compared with 13 and 10 each, they showed more than 84% and 83% similarity, respectively. Isolates 3, 4, 5, 13, and 16 were included in AG-1 with 83% genetic similarity. Isolates 1, 7, and 8 were included in AG-1(IB).
