Prediction of the Penetration Energy for Composite Laminates Subjected to High-velocity Impact Using the Static Perforation Test (정적압입 관통실험을 이용한 복합재 적층판의 고속충격 관통에너지 예측)

  • In this paper, static perforation tests are conducted to predict the penetration energy for the composite laminates subjected to high velocity impact. Three methods are used to analyze the perforation energy accurately. The first method is to select the perforation point using the AE sensor signal energy, the second method is to retest the tested specimen and use the difference between initial and retested perforation energy, and the third method is to select the perforation point based on the maximum loading point in the retested load-displacement curve of the tested specimen. The predicted perforation energy results are presented and verified by comparing with those by the high velocity tests.

  • In this study, in order to develop composition ceramics for Acoustic Emission (abbreviated as AE) sensor application, the PZT system ceramics was fabricated by conventional solid state reaction method. When x=0.48, the density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), piezoelectric coefficient $d_{33}$ and piezoelectric voltage constant $g_{33}$ of the maximum values of $7.857g/cm^3$, 0.51, 190[pC/N], 52[$10^{-3}mV/N$] were obtained, respectively, suitable for AE sensor.

  • This study is performed on the acoustic emission parameters involved in a burst test for a CNG-vehicle fuel tank. A resonant AE sensor with a central frequency of 150 kHz was attached on the composite materials in the center of the fuel tank. The analysis of AE parameters such as hit, amplitude, count, duration, risetime, and signal strength during load holding was performed. The total count and total signal strength are effective tools for the damage evaluation of a CNG fuel tank.

  • Increased complexity of products and their manufacturing processing demans higher quality control and monitoring than ever before. Therefore, flexible automatization or flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) offer numerous advantages over alternative manufacturing methods. In this state, a in-process monitoring is one of the important flexible automation system. And as use of NC and CNC machine tool has been increasing, cutting work has automating and it is necessary to develop the automatic production system combined a couple of machine tool. Thus, in this paper to search examination it can measure the tool wear and the tool life and can be more practical research subject.

  • In order to measure the real contact force between head and disk on hard disk drive quantitatively, many technique of measurement have been developed. Acoustic Emission Sensor can be used for detect elastic energy of head/disk contact as arms value. In this study using pencil breaking test is proposed for finding contact force using transfer function between calibrated force and real contact force. And real AE data of subambient and tripad slider shows bending and torsional mode and their energy are dominant in hard disk and head contact.

  • This paper presents development of a different substance monitoring system base reliable detection between the conveyer belt and hopper used for materials transport line of steel company. Conventional detection method of a piece of iron separation system is losed the confidence, because of the place with bad surroundings of measurement so much that materials production line are completely exposed to dust, moisture and vibration. For the solution of this problem, we developed a different substance detection system using the acoustic emittion sensor and one chip microprocessor which is available for bad surroundings and inexpensive. The reliability of the system was estimated by experiment.

  • For realizing an ubiquitous home network(uHome-net), various sensors should be able to be connected to an integrated wire/wireless sensor network. This paper describes an application case of applying LonWorks technology being widely used in control network to wire/wireless sensor network in uHome-net and the design and application of LonRF device that consists of a neuron chip including LonTalk protocol, a 433.92MHz RF transceiver, a sensor, and application programs. As an application example of the LonRF device, the LonRF smart badge that can measure the 3D location of objects in indoor environment and interwork with the uHome-net was developed. LonRF device based home network services were realized on the uHome-net testbed such as indoor positioning service, remote surveillance service and remote metering service were realized. This research shows that LonWorks technology based sensor network could be applicable to the control network in an ubiquitous home network and the LonRF device can be used as a wireless node in various sensor networks.

  • As emergence of the ubiquitous society, it is possible to access the network for services needed to us in anytime and anywhere. The phenomena has been accelerated by revitalization of the sensor network offering the sensing information and data. Currently, sensor network contributes the convenience for various services such as environment monitoring, health care and home automation. However, sensor network has a weak point compared to traditional network, which is easily exposed to attacker. For this reason, messages communicated over the sensor network, are encrypted with symmetric key and transmitted. A number of symmetric cryptography algorithms have been researched. Among of them HIGHT algorithm in hardware and software implementation are more efficient than tradition AES in terms of speed and chip size. Therefore, it is suitable to resource constrained devices including RFID tag, Sensor node and Smart card. In the paper, we present the optimized software implementation on the ultra-light symmetric cryptography algorithm, HIGHT.

Multiplexed Bend Loss Type Single-Mode Fiber-Optic Displacement Sensor Using Reflection Signals Generated at Optical Connectors (광커넥터의 반사를 이용한 다중화된 굽힘 손실형 단일모드 광섬유 변위센서)

  • We propose and present a new multiplexed bend loss type single-mode fiber-optic sensor system for displacement measurement in order to measure the displacement of several mm of civil engineering structures such as bridges and buildings. We make a bend loss type fiber-optic sensor for measuring displacements using the signal difference between two reflection signals due to various bend losses generating at a pair of optical connectors by using the optical time domain reflectometer. And we fabricate a multiplexed bend loss type fiber-optic sensor detecting linear displacements of 4 measuring positions of an object by setting these new 4 fiber-optic sensors on a single mode fiber simultaneously. We find that the multiplexed fiber-optics displacement sensor has linearity of 0.9942, maximum displacement of 6 mm, and accuracy of 6% for 4 measuring points.
