  • In this paper, we proposed an IJADE(Improved joint approximate diagonalisation of eigenmatrices) which use high order statistics instead of second order statistics for data whitening. For simulation, we artificially construct signals mixed with two ECG signals, 60Hz power line interference and 16Hz sine signal and then put them into a JADE and an IJADE. To evaluate the performance of separated ECG signal in each algorithm, we have adopted indices such as kurtosis, standard deviation ratio, correlation coefficient and euclidean distance. As a results, IJ ADE showed theimproved performances as kurtosis of $2\%,$ standard deviation ratio of 0.2194, and Euclidean distance of 0.07 except correlation coefficient showing similar value. In conclusion, the proposed IJADE showed a good performance in separating ECG and a possibilities in applying to the various biological signal.

  • A multi-region model for solute transport through saturated soils has been developed to describe preferential flow. The model consists of numerous discrete pore groups, which are characterized by a discrete dispersion coefficient, flow velocity, and porosity . The hydraulic properties for each pore group are derived from a soil's hydraluic conductivity and soil water characteristic functions . Flow in pore group is described by the classical advection-disersion equation (ADE). An implict finite difference scheme was applied to the governing equation that results in a block-tridiagonal system of equations that is very efficient and allows the soil to be divided into any number of pore groups. The numerical technique is derived from methods used to solve coupled equations in fluid dynamics problems and can also be applied to the transport of interacting solutes. The results of the model are compared to the experimental data from published papers. This paper contributes on the characteristics of the method when applied to the parallel porosity model to describe preferential flow of solutes in soil.

  • This article presents the development of a model for SiC power diodes based on the physics of the semiconductor. The model is able to simulate the behavior of the dynamics of the charges in the N- region based on the stored charge inside the SiC power diode, depending on the working regime of the device (turn-on, on-state, and turn-off). The optimal individual calculation of the ambipolar diffusion length for every phase of commutation allows for solving the ambipolar diffusion equation (ADE) using a very simple approach. By means of this methodology development a set of differential equations that models the main physical phenomena associated with the semiconductor power device are obtained. The model is developed in Pspice with acceptable simulation times and without convergence problems during its implementation.

  • The photocycloaddition reaction of 8-methoxypsoralen with purine and/or pyrimidine bases is studied as a model for the charge transfer interactions of psoralens with DNA bases by the FMO method. The results indicate that, in the case of the molecular complex formation between psoralens and purine and/or pyrimidine bases, the most probable photocycloaddition should occur in the following order: Thy (5,6)<>(3,4) 8-MOP, Cyt(5,6)<>(3,4)8-MOP, Ade (7,8)<>(3,4)8-MOP, Gua(7,8)<>(3,4)8-MOP. The theoretical results for the photocycloaddition reaction are also correlated with the experimental results. The photoadducts between 8-methoxypsoralen and adenine are likely to be C4-cycloadducts through the cycloaddition of 3,4-pyrone double bond of 8-methoxypsoralen to 7,8-double bond of adenine.

  • A nonlinear finite element analysis of R/C hybrid deep T-beam with web opening subjected to pure torsion is presented. Hexahedral 8-nodes and space truss element were used for modeling concrete and reinforcement. The reinforcement was assumed perfectly bonded to the corresponding nodes of the concrete element. The constitutive relations for concrete and reinforcement are based on the modified field theory and elastic perfectly plastic. The smear crack approach was adopted for modeling the crack. The torque-twist angle relationship curve based on the finite element analysis was compared to the experimental results. The comparison shows that the curve of torque-twist angle predicted by the nonlinear finite element analysis is linear before cracking and close to the experimental result. After cracking, the curve becomes nonlinear and stiffer compared to the experimental result.

  • Building skins are expanding even beyond theirfunctions as a simple boundary between the exterior and interior and into the realm of linguistic functions thanks to the development of media art. LED has been used as material on outer walls following the advancement of building materials, so the outerskins of large buildings are evolving into a messenger of language capable of communication. In big cities, buildings send out video images to enable communication between people and architecture, which plays a huge role in determining the identity of a building beyond simple advertising. Such media fa?ade technologies can be understood based on the concept of outerskin change, which refers to the idea that animals change the colors or textures of their skins to show their various states. In addition, various message delivery functions in human clothes should be included in such a discussion. We need to research on the possibilities of seeing media facades for their information delivery function and expanding them into information delivery between buildings as well as just between buildings and people.

  • Recent high-performance panoptic segmentation models are based on transformer architectures. However, transformer-based panoptic segmentation methods are basically slower than convolution-based methods, since the attention mechanism in the transformer requires quadratic complexity w.r.t. image resolution. Also, sine and cosine computation for positional embedding in the transformer also yields a bottleneck for computation time. To address these problems, we adopt three modules to speed up the inference runtime of the transformer-based panoptic segmentation. First, we perform channel-level reduction using depth-wise separable convolution for inputs of the transformer decoder. Second, we replace sine and cosine-based positional encoding with convolution operations, called conv-embedding. We also apply a separable self-attention to the transformer encoder to lower quadratic complexity to linear one for numbers of image pixels. As result, the proposed model achieves 44% faster frame per second than baseline on ADE20K panoptic validation dataset, when we use all three modules.

  • This study was conducted to breed a high vitamin $B_{12}$ producer by the fusion of protoplasts between Bacillus natto and Bacillus megaterium. Auxotrophic mutants of Bacillus natto SH-34 ($thr^-try^-rif^r$) and Bacillus megaterium BK-13 ($arg^-ade^-lys^-str^r$) which showed high protease activity and production of vitamin $B_{12}$, respectively, were isolated for the fusion experiment. Protoplasts were induced by incubating the cells with lysis solution containing $500{\mu}/ml$ lysozyme, and the ratio of protoplast and regeneration formation were ranged from 99% and 67%, respectively. Fusion frequencies of fusants between Bacillus natto SH-34 and Bacillus megaterium BK-13 were appeared in the ranges of $1.0{\times}10^{-5}$ under the treatment of 30% PEG 6000 containing 3% PVP. The fusant, MNF-72 showed the highest product yield of $7.85{\mu}g/g-cell\;vitamin\;B_{12}$ in production medium. For the improvement of productivity, the immobilization of fusants with sodium alginate was carried out. In batch and continuous fermentation systems, the productivity were determined to be $0.58{\mu}g/ml.hr\;and\;0.80{\mu}g/ml.hr\;vitamin\;B_{12}$ under optimum condition, respectivity.

  • Intergeneric or intraspecific protoplast fusion between Saccharomyces cerevisiae X-2180-1A, Candida pseudotropicalis ATCC 8619 and CBS 607 was attempted to produce ethanol from lactose containing materials. Teh intergeneric fusion frequency between Saccharomyces cerevisiae X-2180-1A (ade rho) and Candida pseudotropicalis CBS 607 (his met) was $1.0\times 10^{-5}$. These values exhibited approximately 2-3.5 fold increase when compared with fusion frequency obtained without the treatment of bovine serum albumin, myoinositol and ergosterol, suggesting that these compounds may improve intergeneric of intraspecific protoplast fusion. Nuclear fusion appears to occur in fusants between intergenera(S. cerevisiae+C. pseudotropicalis) and intraspecies (C. pseudotropicalis strains) as strongly suggested by DNA content, nuclear staining, comparison of survival rate to UV light and isolation of recombinants after mitotic segragation. It was also found that alcohol production from intraspecific hybrids was somewhat increased when compared with that from their parents.
