This paper is a study about application of recently proposed Performance Based Mixture Design (PBMD) for design of high strength concrete (HSC) to obtain HSC mix proportion that satisfies required performances. The PBMD method which uses Satisfaction curve based on a Bayesian method is a performance oriented concrete mix proportion design procedure easily applicable to any condition and environment for a possible replacement to the current prescriptive design standards. Based on extensive experimental results obtained for various materials and performance parameters of HSC, the application feasibility of the developed PBMD procedure for HSC has been verified. Also, the proposed PBMD procedure has been used to perform application examples to obtain desired target performances of HSC with optimum concrete mixture proportions using locally available materials, local environmental conditions, and available concrete production technologies. The validity and precision of HSC mix proportion design obtained using the PBMD method is verified with the experimental and ACI presented results to check the feasibility for actual design usage.
Lately outmoded and functionally obsolete buildings constructed in 1960s and 1970s are often remodelled and restored. Even though there are not serious structural defects in the existing buildings, many old buildings have been reconstructed to improve residence quality or to extend residence area of the buildings. The experimental or theoretical research on plane expansion of RC apartments is quite scare. In this research, 12 specimens and 19 RC slabs connected by hinged joints were tested. The new slab was connected to the existing slab by hinge joints injecting dowel bars between two slabs. Main parameters of the slabs are types of the dowel bars (D13 and D19), spacing of the dowel bars (150mm, 300mm, and 450mm), and the locations of the steel bars in the existing slabs. The test results indicated that the shear strength of the RC test slabs having various types of dowel bars was about twice that calculated by the ACI 318-02 code. All slabs failed in concrete spatting and the dowel steel bars did not reach their yield strengths.

For RC structures, long-term deformation occurs due to the inherent characteristics, which are creep and shrinkage. In terms of serviceability, it is important to limit deflection caused by the deformation to the allowable deflection. In the recent years, various repair and strengthening methods have been used to improve performance of the existing RC structures. One of the typical methods is FRP externally bonded method (EBR). Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been used worldwide as repair and strengthening materials due to its superior properties. Besides, it has to offer improved strengthening performance not only under instantaneous load but sustained load. Therefore, accurate prediction method of deflection for the RC members externally bonded with FRP under sustained load is required. In this paper, three beams were fabricated. Two beams were externally strengthened with one of CFRP plate and GFRP plate respectively. Total three beams were superimposed under sustained load of 25 kN. During 470 days, deflections at midspan were obtained. Moreover, creep coefficients and shrinkage strains were calculated by using ACI-209 code and CEB-FIP code. In order to predict the deflection of the beams, EMM, AEMM, Branson's method and Mayer's method were used. Through the experiment, it was found that the specimen with CFRP plate has the most flexural capacity and Mayer's method is the most precise method to predict total long-term deflections.

In this paper, a bending test was conducted on beams with two lap splice details when the effective depth of tensile high strength headed bars overlapped is the same and different. Through bending test, the lap splice performance of the high-strength headed bars was evaluated, and the applicability of the KDS-2021 design formula was evaluated. In the LS specimens with lap splice details where the high strength bars had the same effective depth, all specimens with 1.3 times or more of the development length of the KDS-2021 equation and 1 times or more of the ACI318-19 had the flexural failure mode after the ductile behavior to ensure sufficient lap splice performance. For specimens with details of lap joints between headed bars with different effective depth, when lap splice length is calculated by the KDS-2021 formula, the flexural stress may be transmitted so that the flexural strength at the cross section with the large effective depth and the cross section with the small effective depth becomes similar.

Numerical analysis is carried out to identify the appropriateness of the design codes that is available for the tensile design of fastening system at Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in this study. This study is intended for the cast-in-place anchor that is widely used for the fastening of equipment in Korean NPPs. The microplane model and the elastic-perfectly plastic model are employed for the quasi-brittle material like concrete and for the ductile material like anchor bolt as constitutive model for numerical analysis and smeared crack model is employed for the crack and damage phenomena. The developed numerical model is verified on a basis of the various test data of cast-in-place anchor. The appropriateness of both ACI 349 Code and CCD approach of CEB-FIP Code is evaluated for the tensile design of cast-in-place anchor and it is proved that both design codes give a conservative results compared with real tensile capacity of cast-in-place anchor.

One of the advantages using High-Strength steel reinforcement in construction is the economic effect due to the decreasing of its quantity. Also, another good effect is the increases of workability by reason of reducing the congestion. This study explain plan of experiment after analysing of ACI 318, 349, 359 to develop 550MPa re-bar design criteria applicable to flexural members of nuclear power plants.

In this study, the ultimate strength of 335 simply supported reinforced concrete beams with shear span-to-effective depth ratio of less than 3 was evaluated by the ACI 318-14's strut-tie model approach implemented with the indeterminate strut-tie models and load distribution ratios of the companion paper. The ultimate strength of the beams was also estimated by using the experimental shear strength models, the theoretical shear strength models, and the current strut-tie model design codes. The validity of the proposed strut-tie models and load distribution ratios was examined by comparing the strength analysis results classified according to the prime design variables of the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, and compressive strength of concrete.

Among several splicing system of reinforcing bar, the grout-filled splice sleeve system has been applied widely. However, as the splice sleeve for high strength rebar as SD500 is not yet made in korea, the development of splice sleeve for high strength reinforcing bar are required as soon as possible. It is the purpose of this study to develop the steel pipe sleeve for high strength rebar as SD500 and estimate its structural performance by monotonic loading test. The experimental variables adopted in this study are the development length of rebars, types of sleeve etc. The results of this study showed that the developed steel pipe splice sleeve system for high strength reinforcing bar as SD500 retained the structural performance required in domestic, ACI and AIJ criteria. And it is considered that the study result presented in this paper can be helpful in developing reasonable design method of steel pipe splice sleeve system for high strength reinforcing bar as SD500.
