  • Metal matrix composites have a great interest in recent years because high specific strength, high specific stiffness characteristics, and application ranges of the composites are extend to variety industry. In this paper, an investigation was performed on the plane strain fracture toughness and slinding wear properties of AC4CH alloy(Al-Si-Mg line) reinforced with 20wt% aluminum borate whisker expect one, which contained a inorganic binder($TiO_2$). the binder led to the formation of strengthen the whisker each other. The test of fracture toughness was using CT(half size) specimen of thickness 12.5mm, width 25mm. and test of slinding wear of using tribo a pin-on-disk machine and lubricant is used without paraffine 8.2CST at room temperature. As results, Fracture toughness $K_{IC}$ is $8.7MPa-m^{05}$ for ABOw/AC4CH, $9.28MPa-m^{05}$ for ABOw/AC4CH added $TiO_2$. but AC4CH alloy was violated the critical stipulated by ASTM standard for valid measurement of $K_{IC}$. In case of, it was performed $J_{IC}$ test instead of $K_{IC}$ based on ASTM E 1820.

  • The adsorption dynamics of activated carbon (AC) and carbon molecular sieve (CMS) beds were studied to recover ethylene from FCC fuel gas. In this study, the FCC fuel gas used consisted of six-component mixture ($CH_4/C_2H_4/C_2H_6/C_3H_6/N_2/H_2$,32:15:14:2:12:25 vol.%). And the breakthrough experiments of adsorption and desorption were carried out. The breakthrough sequence in the AC bed was $H_2$ < $N_2$ < $CH_4$ < $C_2H_4$ < $C_2H_6$ while the sequence in the CMS bed was $H_2$ < $CH_4$ < $N_2$ < $C_2H_6$ < $C_2H_4$. The separation performance of the CMS bed during the adsorption step was lower than that of the AC bed. However, due to the characteristics of kinetic separation, the CMS bed could remove $CH_4/N_2$ as well asthe molecules that are larger than $C_2H_6$, which was not easy to be done by the AC bed. Since it was hard to regenerate the adsorption bed by simple depressurization, vacuum regeneration should be adopted. As a result, the pressure vacuum swing adsorption (PVSA) process, consisting of CMS pretreatment process and AC main process, was suggested to recover ethylene efficiently.

  • In this paper, the effect of binder additive on the fracture toughness was metal matrix composite produced by squeeze casting method. In this study using the matrix is AC4CH and reinforcement used Aluminum borate whisker. Each MMC was produced by add inanimate binder ($SiO_2,\;Al2O_3,\;TiO_2$) to whiskers for increase the binding together of whiskers. Fracture toughness test were carry out in accordance with the ASTM E-399 standard test method, W=25mm, b=12.5mm CT(half size) specimen. However Base metal AC4CH was not meet the qualification of $P_m/P_Q<1.1$, so that test were performed $J_{IC}$ test. $K_{J_{IC}}$ value was measuring by $J_{IC}$ value change into $K_{IC}$. $J_{IC}$ test was carry out in accordance with the ASTM 1820.

  • Metal matrix composites had generated a lot of interest in recent times because of significant in specific properties, it was also highlighted as the material of frontier industry because strength, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant were superiored. In recent years, the study of metal matrix composite has increased by aluminum alloy. The study is based on the tribological properties of AC4CH that is a part of the mechanical property of metal matrix composites. Metal matrix composite that is produced from matrix material AC4CH and reinforcement SiO$_2$, Al$_2$O$_3$ and TiO$_2$ are added to the metal matrix composite fur strength so binding among the whisker can take place. Each metal matrix composite is produced using the squeeze casting method. To test for tribe a pin-on-disk machine and lubricant is used without paraffine 8.2CST at room temperature which is 40$\^{C}$. As the results of this study, the tribological properties of each specimen are more improved than AC4CH. The variation of coefficient resistance is more stable at the AC4CH and TiO$_2$, but the variation rates are higher at the inanimate binder.

  • In a numerical study, equations relating the mechanical properties and cooling rate in a casting process have been applied to an AC4CH cast aluminum alloy. Good agreement was found between the measured and predicted material properties. Step-shaped steel blocks were made to comprise a casting mold with a Y-shaped cavity. Thermometers were inserted into each step of the mold to investigate temperature changes. The microstructure and mechanical properties, such as hardness and tensile stress were measured for each cut of piece. The correlation between the cooling rate and SDAS was found by curved fitting. Moreover, both the solidification time and the temperature were simulated using a commercial package, ZCast. The simulation results for yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and hardness were compared with experimental results. Using the estimated K and n values, the hardness values of a ship propeller were simulated, and the results were similar to those obtained for actual castings.

  • Chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with high-throughput DNA sequencing (ChIP-Seq) is a powerful technology to profile the location of proteins of interest on a whole-genome scale. To identify the enrichment location of proteins, many programs and algorithms have been proposed. However, none of the commonly used peak calling programs could accurately explain the binding features of target proteins detected by ChIP-Seq. Here, publicly available data on 12 histone modifications, including H3K4ac/me1/me2/me3, H3K9ac/me3, H3K27ac/me3, H3K36me3, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, generated from a human embryonic stem cell line (H1), were profiled with five peak callers (CisGenome, MACS1, MACS2, PeakSeq, and SISSRs). The performance of the peak calling programs was compared in terms of reproducibility between replicates, examination of enriched regions to variable sequencing depths, the specificity-to-noise signal, and sensitivity of peak prediction. There were no major differences among peak callers when analyzing point source histone modifications. The peak calling results from histone modifications with low fidelity, such as H3K4ac, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, showed low performance in all parameters, which indicates that their peak positions might not be located accurately. Our comparative results could provide a helpful guide to choose a suitable peak calling program for specific histone modifications.

  • Steam reforming and catalytic reforming of $CH_4$ conversion to produce synthesis gas require both high temperatures and high pressure. Non-thermal plasma is considered to be a promising technology for the hydrogen rich gas production from methane. In this study, three phase AC GlidArc plasma system was employed to investigate the effects of gas composition, gas flow rate, catalyst reactor temperature and applied electric power on the $CH_4$ and $H_2$ yield and the product distribution. The studied system consisted of three electrode and it connected AC generate power system different voltages. In this study, air was used for the partial oxidation of methane. The results showed that increasing gas flow rate, catalyst reactor temperature, or electric power enhanced $CH_4$ conversion and $H_2$ concentration. The reference conditions were found at a $O_2$/C molar ratio of 0.45, a feed flow rate of 4.9 ${\ell}$/min, and input power of 1kW for the maximum conversions of $CH_4$ with a high selectivity of $H_2$ and a low reactor energy density.
