  • Polymers, polymer compounds, are very moldable at low temperatures and have good strength against weight, and hence, are often used in the interior and exterior materials of cars. Owing to the increasing environmental problems, emission regulations have become stricter, which has increased the use of lightweight polymers as substitutes for metal materials. Therefore, as the use of polymer increases, extensive research is being conducted on the bonding technology of polymers, such as polyurethane and epoxy. However, the increased cost and environmental pollution by adhesives caused by the polymer manufacturing plant depend on the chemical composition or the manufacturer's mix ratio. To compensate for this issue, a laser beam is irradiated through a highly permeable polymer (PC) placed on top of an absorbent polymer (ABS) to transfer the laser output to the ABS polymer and fuse them at the interface. Moreover, enabling laser penetrating bonding by placing a stainless steel wire mesh between the two polymers can achieve improved bonding strength compared to conventional heterogeneous polymer bonding.

홀터 심전계를 위한 심방세동 신호 추출 알고리즘 (Atrial Fibrillation Waveform Extraction Algorithm for Holter Systems)

  • 심방세동은 발작성 심방세동 단계에서부터 검출 및 분석하여 적절한 치료를 실시하여야 하며, 홀터 심전계를 통해서만 측정할 수 있다. 현재 12채널 심전계를 통해서는 심방세동 신호를 추출할 수 있는 효과적인 방법들이 개발되어 있으나, 홀터 심전계를 위한 방법으로는 심실활동 템플릿을 단순 제거하는 ABS(averaged beat subtraction)방법이 사용되고 있다. 최근 단일 채널 심전도로부터 심방세동 신호를 추출하기 위한 PCA(principal component analysis) 또는 SVD(singular value decomposition) 기반의 알고리즘이 제안되기도 하였으나, 구현이 복잡하고 전문가의 개입이 필요한 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 주 입력인 심방세동 심전도에서 심실활동을 이벤트로서 검출한 뒤 이를 기준 입력으로 하는 이벤트 동기 적응필터(ESAF, event-synchronous adaptive filter)를 제안하고, 심방세동 신호 추출 성능을 평가해 보았다. 그 결과 기존 ABS 방법에 비해 우수할 뿐만 아니라, 전문가의 개입 없이도 PCA 또는 SVD 기반의 알고리즘과도 대등한 성능을 보였다. 나아가 이형성 심실활동이 있는 경우에도 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 확장 ESAF 방법을 제안하였으며, 단형성 심실활동이 있는 경우와 유사한 수준의 성능을 확인하였다. 제안된 알고리즘을 홀터 심전계에 적용하면 발작성 심방세동 심전도의 분석뿐만 아니라 항부정맥 약물의 치료효과를 실시간으로 보다 정확하게 평가할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Recently, the electronic parts are to be thinner plate, smaller size, light weight material and CPU, HDD and DRAM in all the parts have been produced on the basis of the high speed and greater capacity. Also, conventional goods have replaced a LED (Light-Emitting Diode) in lighting products so; such industry devices need to have cooling. To maximize all the performance on the heat-radiated products, the area of heat-radiated parts is required to be cooled for keeping the life time extension and performance of product up. Existing cooling systems are using radiant heat plate of aluminum, brass by extrusion molding, heat pipe or hydro-cooling system for cooling. There is a limitation for bringing the light weight of product, cost reduction, molding of the cooling system. So it is proposed that an alternative way was made for bringing to the cooling system. EP (Engineering Plastic) of low-cost ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene Resin) and PC (Polycarbonate) was coated with brass and the coating made the radiated heat go up. The performance of radiant heat plate is the similar to the existing part. We have studied experimentally on the radiated heat plate for the light-weight, molding improvement and low-cost. From now on, we are going to develop the way to replace the exiting plate with exterior surface of product as a cooling system.

  • During the 1990s the workplace has grown more complex and business competition has increased world-wide. All organizations, whether for-profit or non-profit have been forced to respond to market changes. More advanced information and technology, greater product diversity, shorter product life cycles, increased quality requirements, more regulation oversight, decreasing productivity, more competitors, and increasing overhead costs have motivated organizations to focus on ways to deliver products cheaper, better, and faster. Many organizations are searching for ways to reduce costs through downsizing, reengineering business processes, implementing quality management, outsourcing, and improving cost management. Support departments that provide services internal to an organization such as human resources, legal, and environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) are often the first organization targeted for cost reduction and cost control initiatives because these functions are part of a rapidly increasing overhead cost. Recently, ES&H functions are incresingly being integrated into the business of business to contribute value to organization beyond mere compliance with ES&H regulations. The discussions and development of the ISO compatible Environmental Management Standards or Occupational Safety and Health Management Standards is another impetus to integrate ES&H function into the business of business. Thus, ES&H professional need new skills to analyze the cost of their function and communicate the value of the products and services they provide. In recent years, the need for and the importance developing cost management and business skills by ES&H professionals have been emphasized in the literature. Communicating with decision makers in terms of cost and value to the organization, and by using business language and business arguments is the first step toward effectively integrating ES&H activities into the business of business. Activity-based costing (ABC) is a cost management method that measures the cost of a product or service based on the actual use of resources by activities, and based on the actual amount of activities used to produce a product or service. ABC is recommended as a tool for managers of ES&H organizations to determine the cost of developing and providing ES&H products within a for-profit firm or non-profit agency. This paper discusses the trend of integration of ES&H functions into the mainstream of business activities within an organization. The general principles of treditional cost accounting are presented as a bases for understandging why and how ABC will provide more accurate estimates of cost. The principles and concepts of ABS are presented as a tool for determining more accurately the true cost of ES&H products and services.

  • By using modeling and simulation. today's design engineers are simultaneously reducing time to market and decreasing the cost of development, while increasing the quality and reliability of their products. A driving simulator is the best example of this method and allows virtual designs of control systems, electronic systems, mechanical systems and hydraulic system of a vehicle to be evaluated before costly prototyping. The objective of this Paper is to develop the virtual Proving: ground using a driving simulator and to show its capabilities of an automotive system development tool. For this purpose, including a real-time vehicle dynamics analysis system, the PC-based driving simulator and the virtual proving ground are developed by using VR(Virtual Reality) techniques. Also ABS HIL(Hardware-In-the-Loop ) simulation is performed successfully.

  • 24V DC power system of commercial vehicle includes 28V alternator and 24V battery bank (two 12V battery bank in series). BEQ(Battery Equalizer) provides efficient and reliable 12V DC power to 12V electrical load in 24V DC power system. In addition to providing 12V DC power, BEQ ensures that battery voltages remain equal which extends battery life. It is the most cost effective and efficient solution for dual voltage systems. BEQ made by Hyundai MOBIS is specifically designed to provide reliable 12V DC power for 12V ABS(Anti-lock Brake system).

  • The current research field to find near-optimum solutions explores in a small population, which is coined as Micro-Genetic Algorithms (${\mu}$GAs), with some genetic operators. Just as in the Simple-Genetic Algorithms (SGAs), the ${\mu}$GAs work with encoding population and are implemented serially. The major difference between SGAs and ${\mu}$GAs is how to make reproductive plan for more better searching strategy due to the population choice. This paper is conducted to implement ${\mu}$GAs in order to achieve fast searching for more better evolution and associated cost evaluation in global solution space. To achieve this implementation, the Air-Borne Selection (ABS) for a new reproductive plan is developed as new strategic conception for ${\mu}$GAs. Head Slider Designs Using Approximation Methods

  • This paper presents an approach to optimally design the air bearing surface (ABS) of the head slider by using the approximation methods. The reduced basis concept is used to reduce the number of design variables. In the numerical calculation, the progressive quadratic response surface modeling (PQRSM) is used to handle the non-smooth and discontinuous cost function. A multi-criteria optimization problem is formulated to enhance the flying performances over the entire recording band during the steady state and track seek operations. The optimal solutions of the sliders, whose target flying heights are 12 nm and 9 nm, are automatically obtained. The flying heights during the steady state operation become closer to the target values and the flying height variations during the track seek operation are smaller than those for the initial one. The pitch and roll angles are also kept within suitable ranges over the recording band.

  • The objective of the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system is to maintain vehicle stability under critical lateral motions, It has a good potential of becoming one of the chassis control necessities since the system can be realized with little additional cost on top of the ABS/TCS system, Developed in this research is a hardware-in-the-loop simulator for VDC with a valve control system that modulates the brake pressures at four wheels: Two VDC control logics, a simple control logic and an LQR control logic, have been developed and incorporated in the HILS system. Their performance under various driving conditions was tested in the HILS system and the results are presented.

  • The VDC(Vehicle Dynamics Control) is a control system whose target is to improve vehicle stability under critical motion. The system has a good potential of becoming a standard active safety unit in passenger vehicles since it can be implemented on top of the ABS/TCS system with little extra cost. This, however, is possible only when the signals that the VDC system demands can be obtained with sufficient accuracy. In this research, estimators for the road friction coefficient and body sideslip angle have been designed. The two variables have great influence upon performance of the VDC system but not directly measurable. For the estimator design, the Newton method and the nonlinear observer theory have been exploited. The performance of the estimator have been verified via simulations on critical driving conditions.
