Zone 3 of the distance relay is used to provide the remote back-up protection in case of the failure of the primary protection. However, the risk for mal-operations under stressed conditions such as heavy loading, voltage and transient instability is usually high. Zone 3 is used in combination with the derivatives of the voltage, and current, etc to prevent mal-operations. Sometimes, the impedance characteristics that restrict the tripping area of relay are used to avoid the mal-operations due to load encroachment. This paper presents a novel zone 3 scheme based on combining the steady-state components(i.e. 60Hz) and the transient components(TCs) using a state diagram that visualizes the sequence of studies that emanate from the sequence of events. The simulation results show that the novel zone 3 distance relay elements using the proposed method operates correctly for the various events.

Access control is an essential security component in protecting sensitive data and services from unauthorized access to the resources in mission-critical Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs). CPSs are different from conventional information processing systems in such that they involve interactions between the cyber world and the physical world. Therefore, existing access control models cannot be used directly and even become disabled in an emergency situation. This paper proposes an adaptive Access Control model for Emergences (AC4E) for mission-critical CPSs. The principal aim of AC4E is to control the criticalities in these systems by executing corresponding responsive actions. AC4E not only provides the ability to control access to data and services in normal situations, but also grants the correct set of access privileges, at the correct time, to the correct set of subjects in emergency situations. It can facilitate adaptively responsive actions altering the privileges to specific subjects in a proactive manner without the need for any explicit access requests. A semiformal validation of the AC4E model is presented, with respect to responsiveness, correctness, safety, non-repudiation and concurrency, respectively. Then a case study is given to demonstrate how the AC4E model detects, responds, and controls the emergency events for a typical CPS adaptively in a proactive manner. Eventually, a wide set of simulations and performance comparisons of the proposed AC4E model are presented.
Recent technological advances provide the opportunity to use large amounts of multimedia data from a multitude of sensors with different modalities (e.g., video, text) for the detection and characterization of criminal activity. Their integration can compensate for sensor and modality deficiencies by using data from other available sensors and modalities. However, building such an integrated system at the scale of neighborhood and cities is challenging due to the large amount of data to be considered and the need to ensure a short response time to potential criminal activity. In this paper, we present a system that enables multi-modal data collection at scale and automates the detection of events of interest for the surveillance and reconnaissance of criminal activity. The proposed system showcases novel analytical tools that fuse multimedia data streams to automatically detect and identify specific criminal events and activities. More specifically, the system detects and analyzes series of incidents (an incident is an occurrence or artifact relevant to a criminal activity extracted from a single media stream) in the spatiotemporal domain to extract events (actual instances of criminal events) while cross-referencing multimodal media streams and incidents in time and space to provide a comprehensive view to a human operator while avoiding information overload. We present several case studies that demonstrate how the proposed system can provide law enforcement personnel with forensic and real time tools to identify and track potential criminal activity.
Purpose: Treatment options are limited after the failure of first-and second-line treatments in patients with HER2+ metastatic gastric cancer (mGC). The present study aimed to explore the efficacy, safety, and prognostic factors of apatinib efficacy as a third-line therapy for patients with human epithelial growth factor receptor 2-positive (HER2+) mGC. Materials and Methods: A total of 59 HER2+ mGC patients who received apatinib as third-line therapy were retrospectively enrolled in this two-center, single-arm, cohort study; the clinical response, survival data, and adverse events were retrieved. Results: The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 5.2 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 3.9-6.5), and the median overall survival (OS) was 8.2 months (95% CI, 6.6-9.8) Furthermore, forward stepwise multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that a higher Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score and multiple metastases were independently correlated with decreased PFS and OS (both P<0.05). The main adverse events were leukopenia (45.8%), hypertension (44.1%), thrombocytopenia (39.0%), hand-foot syndrome (37.3%), and elevated transaminase (33.9%). Grade 3 adverse events mainly included hypertension (5.1%) and neutropenia (5.1%); grade 4 adverse events did not occur. Conclusions: Apatinib is efficient and well tolerated in patients with HER2+ mGC as a third-line treatment, suggesting that it may be a candidate of choice for these patients.
This study aimed to assess the impact of weather events on the sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor L.) cultivar production trend in the central inland region of Korea during the monsoon season, using time series analysis. The sorghum-sudangrass production data collected between 1988 and 2013 were compiled along with the production year's weather data. The growing degree days (GDD), accumulated rainfall, and sunshine duration were used to assess their impacts on forage production (kg/ha) trend. Conversely, GDD and accumulated rainfall had positive and negative effects on the trend of forage production, respectively. Meanwhile, weather events such as heavy rainfall and typhoon were also collected based on weather warnings as weather events in the Korean monsoon season. The impact of weather events did not affect forage production, even with the increasing frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall. Therefore, the trend of forage production for the sorghum-sudangrass hybrid was forecasted to slightly increase until 2045. The predicted forage production in 2045 will be 14,926 ± 6,657 kg/ha. It is likely that the damage by heavy rainfall and typhoons can be reduced through more frequent harvest against short-term single damage and a deeper extension of the root system against soil erosion and lodging. Therefore, in an environment that is rapidly changing due to climate change and extreme/abnormal weather, the cultivation of the sorghum-sudangrass hybrid would be advantageous in securing stable and robust forage production. Through this study, we propose the cultivation of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid as one of the alternative summer forage options to achieve stable forage production during the dynamically changing monsoon, in spite of rather lower nutrient value than that of maize (Zea mays L.).

The Telescope Array (TA) experiment reported the arrival direction distribution of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) with energies above $5.7{\times}10^{19}eV$ in the northern sky. A clustering of TA events, the so-called hotspot, was found; however, its nature has not yet been understood. To understand the origin of the TA hotspot, we examine the sky distributions of the TA UHECR arrival direction and filamentary structures of galaxies in the local universe. By statistical tests for anisotropy, we find a close correlation of the TA events with the filaments of galaxies connected to the Virgo cluster. We discuss our finding and its implications.

The Nuclear Steam Supply System(NSSS) is designed to provide an integrated approach that includes areas of monitoring relevant to the integrity of the NSSS. LPMS is designed to function as an alarm system by providing sensor channel alarms for the associated subsystems. LPMS is equipped to provide analysis tools for new alarm events, historical events and for historical periodically stored channel data (e.g. waveforms) for most channels. This paper is intended to introduce the diagnosis principle and abnormal symptom of loose parts monitoring system as a monitoring tool in Nuclear Steam Supply System. And also, we are going to introduce signal analysis program in order to perform the actual diagnosis in power plants.

An oxide fuel small size core (1200 MWt) was analyzed in comparison with a large size core (3600 MWt) in order to evaluate the size effects on transient safety performances of liquid-metal reactors (LMRs). in the first part of the study, main static safety parameters (i.e., Doppler coefficient, sodium void effect, etc.) of the two cores were characterized, and the second part of the study was focused on the dynamic behavior of the cores in two representative transient events: the unprotected loss-of-flow(ULOF) and the unprotected transient overpower (UTOP). Margins to fuel molting and sodium boiling have been evaluated for these representative transients. Results show that the small core has a generally better or equivalent level of safety performances during these events.

One of the cylindrical reactor vessels in petrochemical plants was examined by acoustic emission method. The vessel was quiet in view of A.E. activity throughout the pressure range $12-44kg.f/cm^{2}.G$. Above the pressure of $44kg.f/cm^2$, some events were appeared lower than 30 counts. In order to verify the events, other Nondestructive testing methods were performed and a surface crack, 10mm in length and 0.8mm in depth, was found on the outside surface of circumferential weld.

The transmuted generalized extreme value (TGEV) distribution was first introduced by Aryal and Tsokos (Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 71, 401-407, 2009) and applied by Nascimento et al. (Hacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, 45, 1847-1864, 2016). However, they did not give explicit expressions for all the moments, tail behaviour, quantiles, survival and risk functions and order statistics. The TGEV distribution is a more flexible model than the simple GEV distribution to model extreme or rare events because the right tail of the TGEV is heavier than the GEV. In addition the TGEV distribution can adjusted various forms of asymmetry. In this article, explicit expressions for these measures of the TGEV are obtained. The tail behavior and the survival and risk functions were determined for positive gamma, the moments for nonzero gamma and the moment generating function for zero gamma. The performance of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the TGEV parameters were tested through a series of Monte Carlo simulation experiments. In addition, the model was used to fit three real data sets related to financial returns.
