INTRODUCTION: Local heat and cold application has been frequently used as means of muscle relaxation and blood circulation or reinforcing muscle strength, relaxing muscle tension in clinical situation. In particular, it has been known that long-term heat and cold application for relaxing muscle tension inhibits muscle spasticity or tension. But, it has been rarely reported that what influences of heat and cold application on activation of muscle action potential. Therefore, this study aims to analyze surface temperature and electromyography activities according to the heat and cold application. METHODE: Subjects of this research were 10 normal men and women (5 men, 5 women). Hot pack and cold pack was applied to vastus medialis muscle of thigh and rectus femoris muscle for 20 min. Surface temperature of vastus medialis muscle and rectus femoris muscle was measured, knee joint of subjects was in $45^{\circ}$ flexion, sitting on a chair, maximal isometric contraction was induced, surface electromyography (sEMG) signals were collected and root mean square (RMS) and median frequency (MOF) were analyzed. All measurements were conducted before and immediately after experiment, 10 min., 20 min. and 30 min. after experiment. Data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 program, comparison of changes in superficial temperature and sEMG signals through repeated measurement was conducted with repeated measures ANOVA and significance level $\alpha$ was 0.05. RESULTS: Changes of surface temperature of vastus medialis muscle according to cold application were radically decreased immediately after application, but it was recovered after 30 min. of application and it showed significant difference (F4. 36=72.216, P<0.001). Surface temperature of rectus femoris also showed radical decrease immediately after application, but it was recovered after 30 min. of application and showed significant difference (F4. 36=88.930, P<0.001). Changes of surface temperature of vastus medialis muscle according to heat application were radically increased immediately after application, but it was recovered after 30 min. of application and it showed significant difference (F4. 36=27.267, P<0.001). Surface temperature of rectus femoris also showed radical decrease immediately after application, but it was recovered after 30 min. of application and showed significant difference (F4. 36=19.774, P<0.001). Changes of sEMG by heat and cold application were no statistical difference. Surface temperature of skeletal muscle after heat and cold application showed significant change for 30 min., but it was found that increase or decrease of surface temperature had not great influence on sEMG activities.
Environmental stresses, such as heat shock, alcohol and physiological salt have been shown to induce a group of protein called heat shock protein (HSPs) in various tissues. In this investigation, we studied that arsenic stress would alter contraction of isolated rat aorta and expression of heat shock protein 70 and investigated the relation between expression of HSP 70 and vascular contractility of isolated rat aorta. Rat aorta strips, mounted in organ baths were exposed to 0, 0.5, 1,2 and 4 mM arsonic for 60 min. and 1,3 and 8 hours later tested for contractile response and expression of heat shock protein 70. Contractility of rat aorta were determined by isometric transducer connected to computerized physiograph and expression of HSP 70 was characterized by western blotting, respectively. Potassium chloride (55 mM) significantly augmented vascular contractility of yat aorta by 39% compared with the control at 8 hours but not one or three hours after treatment of 4 mM arsenic. Arsonic stress (4 mM) also increased the expression of HSP 70 in rat aorta at 8 hours but one or three hours compared with the control and HSP expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells and some expressed in endothelium cells. These results suggest that arsenic stress not only did alter the magnitude of the contractile response to high potassium chloride but also increased the expression of HSP 70 in the rat aorta.

The aim of this study was to effect of muscle activity on muscle architectural of medial gastrocnemius in chronic stroke patient based on ankle joint degree. The subjects of this study were 10 chronic stroke patients modified Ashworth scale(MAS) 2. Ultrasonographic and dynamometer was measured during resting and maximum voluntary isometric contraction(MVIC) on muscle thickness, pennation angle, fascicle length, MVIC. Result from analysis showed that muscle thickness was thinner in the paretic side than in the non-paretic side(p<.001) and the more plantarflexion increased, the thinner muscle thickness became. And at the time of resting rather than of MVIC significant(p<.001). Result from analysis showed that penneation angle was smaller in the paretic side than in the non-paretic side(p<.001) and the more plantarflexion increased, the larger pennation became. And at the time of resting rather than of MVIC significant(p<.001). Result from analysis showed that fascicle was shorter in the paretic side than in the non-paretic side(p<.001) and the more plantarflexion increased, the shorter fascicle length became. And at the time of resting rather than of MVIC significant(p<.001). The results of this study showed that effect of muscle activity on muscle architectural of medial gastrocnemius in chronic stroke patient based on ankle joint degree. Therefore, Ultrasonographic evaluation of chronic stroke patients according ankle joint degree and muscle activity in the clinical diagnosis and therapy is considered a very useful data.
The identification of viable myocardium in patients with coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction is an issue of increasing clinical relavance in the current era of myocardial revascularization. There are at least two forms of reversible myocardial dysfunction. Early reperfusion does not always lead to immediate functional improvement; rather, the return of contractility in tissue salvaged by reperfusion is delayed for hours, days or even weeks, a phenomenon that has been termed "stunned myocardium". Some patients with coronary artery disease show myocardial dysfunction at rest which are associated with reduced perfusion, and which disappear after revascularization; this phenomenon has been termed "hibernating myocardium". Recently, cardiac imaging techniques that evaluate myocardial viability on the basis of perfusion-contraction mismatch and inotropic reserve have gained substantial popularity and clinical success. This review focus on the application of $^{201}TI$ and $^{99m}Tc-MIBI$ to address myocardial viability in patients with hibernating and stunned myocardium. It is clear that 4-hour redistribution images of $^{201}TI$ underestimate ischemia and overestimate scar. Delayed imaging and reinjection imaging have been developed for the assessment of viability. Among many protocols suggested, stress-redistribution-reinjection imaging gained most popularity. Although $^{99m}Tc-MIBI$ could identify myocardial viability, $^{201}TI$ reinjection technique was regarded as superior to it. In conclusion, $^{201}TI$ stress, 4-hr rest redistribution, and reinjection imaging technique may be the most preferable method for evaluation of myocardial viability.
This study was performed to investigate the effect of silk protein (BM-1) treatment on epidermal growth factor (EGF) expression in the wound healing process by excision on the hairless mouse. Significant wound healing activity was observed BM-1 treated group. In BM-1 treated groups ($100{\sim}116 ug/day$), epithelialization of the incision wound was laster with a high rate of wound contraction. In expression of EGF and EGF mRNA, the lesion of BM-1 treated group made EGF to more induce significantly than control lesion. These data suggest that silk protein (BM-1) treatment have wound healing effect by excision on the hairless mouse.
The objectives of this study is to compare the inhibitory mechanism of sodium nitroprusside and forskolin on the phorbol ester, activator of protein kinase C (PKC), -induced contractions in rat aorta. $0.1\;{\mu}M$ phorbol dibutyrate (PDBu) induced sustained contractions and increased phosphorylations of myosin light chain (MLC) time-dependently. At 30 min, the contractions and phosphorylations of MLC by PDBu were augmented maximally and remained constant. Moreover, $^{45}Ca^{2+}$ uptake was increased 30 min after PDBu stimulation from resting values. Sodium nitroprusside which activates guanylyl cyclase followed by increasing cGMP, inhibited the PDBu-induced contractions concentration-dependently. On the other hand, forskolin which activates adenylyl cyclase followed by increasing cAMP, also inhibited the PDBu-induced contractions concentration-dependently. However, sodium nitroprusside was more potent to inhibition of the PDBu-induced contractions than forskolin. Sodium nitroprusside inhibited $^{45}Ca^{2+}$ uptake by PDBu stimulation. Forskolin also inhibited $^{45}Ca^{2+}$ uptake by PDBu stimulation. Sodium nitroprusside and forskolin inhibited the phosphorylations of MLC by PDBu, respectively. However, sodium nitroprusside was more potent to inhibition of phosphorylations of MLC by PDBu than forskolin. From these results, Sodium nitroprusside via cGMP or forskilin via cAMP may reduce myoplasmic $Ca^{2+}$ followed by suppression of phosphorylations of MLC of PKC-mediated contractions, which results in vasodilation. However, cGMP may play a role more importantly than cAMP on the regulation of protein kinase C-mediated contraction in vascular smooth muscle.

The purpose of this study was to investigate muscle activation of lower extremity such as rectus femoris, tibialis anterior and soleus according to 0cm(bare foot), 4cm and 7cm heel height of shoe on the rocking surface in older women. 20 older women who did not have any lower musculoskeletal and neurological disorders in the past were participated in this study. Each subject was standing for 15 seconds on the level 8 of Biodex Stability System (BSS) while wearing 4cm and 7cm heel height shoes including bare foot. Electromyography was used to measure muscle activation of lower extremity, and the muscle activation was expressed as a percentage of maximal voluntary isometric contraction (% MVIC). We measured % MVIC of three muscles during 5 seconds except for the first 5 seconds and last 5 seconds. SPSS 12.0 program was used for this study. Repeated one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) was performed to compare the significant difference among the muscles of lower extremities according to heel heights of shoe on the rocking plate. % MVIC of each muscle such as rectus femoris, tibialis anterior and soleus regarding heel heights of shoe had statistically significant differences (p<0.05). The results of contrast test were as follows; 1) % MVIC of rectus femoris had significant differences between barefoot and 4cm, and barefoot and 7cm. 2) % MVIC of tibialis anterior had significant differences between barefoot and 4cm, barefoot and 7cm, and 4cm and 7cm. 3) % MVIC of soleus had significant differences between barefoot and 7cm, 4cm and 7cm. The results indicate that all commonly responsive muscle on the conditions of barefoot, 4cm, and 7cm shoe height on the rcoking surface is tibialis anterior muscle. We found out that the more heels of shoe high, the more muscle activation increases. High-heeled shoes above 7cm remarkably increase the muscle activation of lower extremity and may result in muscle fatigue. Thus, these shoes may summate risk factors of falls in older women. We can acknowledge that the heels above 4 cm affect each muscle activation in lower extremity on the rocking surface.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify students' experiences of performance and their satisfaction with clinical nursing practice in Women's health nursing. Methods: Data was collected using questionnaire consisting of 104; 89,; and 82 nursing activities with 12; 10; and 7 domains for delivery floor, obstetric, and gynecologic wards retrospectively. Experiences of clinical nursing practice for the obstetric ward and the gynecologic ward were identified and ranked as well. Observation of delivery, measurement & test during labor and observation of anesthesia and operation were the highest ranked activity domains of satisfaction for delivery floor, obstetric and gynecologic wards retrospectively. Conclusion: Discussions are needed to standardize curriculum for clinical practice in women's health nursing initiated at the level of Korean Society of Womens' Health Nursing by reflecting this result. Strategic approaches are emphasized in order to enhance a collaboration between clinical fields and colleges.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational culture, job characteristics and job continuance will among police officers. This study targets the police officers dispatched in the Seoul metropolitan area in 2012, and it uses judgment sampling method to analyze 187 samples. This study conducted the statistical analysis, including frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple regression analysis, by using SPSS WIN 18.0. The result is as follows. First, the organizational culture among police officers has effects on job characteristics. That is, the feedback increases as the organizational culture becomes more mutual development- or agreement-oriented, or as it becomes more hierarchical; on the other hand, the job importance increases as more hierarchical and rational a culture becomes. Also, self-determination increases as an organization becomes more mutual development- or agreement-oriented. Second, the organizational culture among police officers has effects on the job continuance will. That is, the expected satisfaction increases but intentional insincerity decreases as the organizational culture becomes more mutual development- or agreement-oriented. Also, risk-perceiving behavior increases as an organizational culture becomes more hierarchical. Third, police officers' job characteristics have effects on the job continuance will. That is, the feedback and job importance increases the expected satisfaction while reducing functional diversity. The feedback also reduces the contraction factor. The job importance increases intentional insincerity while reducing functional diversity. The functional diversity not only increase alternative expectation but also increases risk-perceiving factors.
The LiN $i_{l-y}$$Co_{y}$$O_2$ samples were synthesized at 80$0^{\circ}C$ and 85$0^{\circ}C$, by the solid-state reaction method, from the various starting materials LiOH, L $i_2$C $O_3$, NiO, NiC $O_3$, $Co_3$$O_4$, CoC $O_3$, and their electrochemical properties are investigated. The LiN $i_{l-y}$$Co_{y}$$O_2$ pre-pared from L $i_2$C $O_3$, NiO, and $Co_3$$O_4$ exhibited the $\alpha$-NaFe $O_2$ structure of the rhombohedral system (space group; R3m). As the Co content increased, the lattice parameters a and c decreased. The reason is that the radius of Co ion is smaller than that of Ni ion. The increase in da shows that two-dimensional structure develops better as the Co content increases. The LiN $i_{0.7}$$Co_{03}$. $O_2$[HOO(800,0.3)] synthesized at 80$0^{\circ}C$from LiOH, NiO, and $Co_3$$O_4$ exhibited the largest first discharge capacity 162 mAh/g. The size of particles increases roughly as the valve of y increases. The samples with the larger particles have the larger first discharge capacities. The cycling performances of the samples with the first discharge capacity larger than 150 mAh/g were investigated. The LiN $i_{0.9}$$Co_{0.1}$$O_2$[COO(850,0.1)] synthesized at 85$0^{\circ}C$ from L $i_2$C $O_3$, NiO, and $Co_3$$O_4$ showed an excellent cycling performance. The sample with the larger first discharge capacity will be under the more severe lattice destruction, due to the expansion and contraction of the lattice during intercalation and deintercalation, than the sample with the smaller first discharge capacity. As the first discharge capacity increases, the capacity fading rate thus increases.increases.s.s.s.
