  • In this paper, we propose blind adaptation strategies for decision feedback equalizer (DFE) optimizing the operation mode between acquisitionand tracking modes based on adjustable soft decision devices. The proposed schemes select an optimal soft decision device to generate feedback samples for the DFE at a given noise to signal ratio, and apply corresponding adaptation rules which combine a blind infinite impulse response (IIR) filtering adaptation and the decision-directed least mean squared (DD-LMS) DFE adaptation. These adaptation approaches attempt to achieve not only smooth transition between acquisition and tracking of DFE but also mitigation of error propagation.

  • A low speed wind tunnel test for the canard airplane model was conducted in KARI LSWT. To measure the required level of accuracy, the image system was applied for all elevator deflection and different canard incidence conditions. By doing so, the difference in aerodynamic characteristics between the forward swept and straight canards can be precisely evaluated, and the pros and cons of both canards arrangements can be discussed. Compared with both canard configurations at the same incidence angle setting, the straight canard has benefits in lift and drag, and the slope of pitching moment increases more moderately than the forward swept canard. The listed data and discussion would be useful to whom wants to design a canard airplane.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the strength characteristics of mortar with lime composites using natural fiber or superplasticizer. Lime composites consist of lime and pozzolan materials. Flow according to adding natural fiber decreased and mortar proportion added cellulose fiber showed a higher strength characterisitics than other natural fiber. but compressive and shear strength in use of superplasticizer is not effective largely. In addition, lime composites, as an environment-friendly material, may help reduse $CO_2$, and save the energy. also this materials can be recycled in environmental aspects. afterwards, further in-depth studies will be necessary for cracks and durability with respect to its wide different applications, in applying it as a construction material.

  • Star formation activities dominate the evolution of galaxies. Elliptical galaxies are believed to be old galaxies in the Hubble sequence, and elliptical galaxies at different evolution epochs might have different star formation activities and/or morphologies. We investigate the connection between star formation rates and the morphology of elliptical galaxies. With the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Galaxy Zoo, we select a sample of elliptical galaxies by morphology and consider their infrared emission as an index of star formation rate to study the relation between the star formation rates and their morphological properties, such as ellipticities. In addition, we select some nearby spiral galaxies with very low MIR emission to probe the mechanisms of these red spiral galaxies. We display our preliminary results and discuss their implication on the evolution of galaxies in this poster.

  • The animal in this case report was a 10-year-old male Taiwanese monkey (Macaca cyclopis) kept at a zoo of South Korea. Over the last three years, a cauliflower-shaped masses have been noted on the gingiva near the incisor and molar teeth on right maxilla. Consequently, this monkey have undergone surgical removal of the mass annually. Grossly masses showed pinkish color. Histopathological findings, typical spindle cell tumor composed of collagen fibers. Infiltration by plasma cells and lymphocytes is found unrelated to ulceration of the surface epithelium. This is the first report of peripheral odontogenic fibroma in a Formosan rock macaque.

  • In order to carnation productivity improvement, ozonizer and negative ionizer has been designed and manufactured. The ozone is generated by DC positive streamer discharge and the negative ion is generated by DC negative discharge. When the ozone and negative ion are supplied growth room and farm to carnation cultivation, the carnation productivity is improved.

  • Urolithiasis (UL) is a common disease of canine. Analysis of urinary stone is an essential step in the examination and initial treatment of the patient with UL. The dead maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus), male, was introduced to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Chungbuk National University. The maned wolf was imported from USA to Cheong-ju zoo. Postmortem sign of maned wolf was hemorrhage of bladder with a many stones. No bacteria was shown with bacterial culture of urine. But in feces, Clostridium perfringens were overgrown. Bladder stone from maned wolf was composed of calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate was formed with excess calcium from diet mainly meat base.

  • In the multi-burner power plant, uneven supplies of combustion air to multi-burner are induced by unbalanced flow distribution in the windbox. These flow patterns tend to make flame unstable, increase the formation of pollutants and lower the overall combustion efficiency. To prevent these disadvantages, flow patterns in the windbox should be investigated and made to be distributed uniformly, In this study, scaled windbox model was used for tests and measured the velocities at the exit of the each burner and compared those with the CFD results.

  • This paper describes preliminary discussions on spatial distribution of NO density, which is mostly contained in simulated NOx exhaust, between a wire-cylinder geometry discharge gaps by using Laser Induced Fluorescence(LIF) Spectroscopy, Spatial distribution of NO density will be measured with varying NO concentrations from 166 to 644 [ppm] and diameters of central electrode from 6 to 10mm. Pulsed Nd:YAG laser. Optical Parametric Oscillator(OPO), and Frequency Doubler are used to excite NO molecules to their excited state.

  • The effect of axial stress on the plastic deformation of rigid-perfectly plastic cylindrical tube under the impulsive band pressure is investigated. It is assumed that the tube is constructed with the material of Tresca's yield criterion. A closed from sloution is obtained for a rectangular pulse shape of uniform band pressure by using the circumscribed yield surface. The analysis shows that the effect ot exial stress is negligible when the dimensionless axial stress(n$\sub$x/= N$\sub$x/.delta.$\sub$y/H) is less than 0.2 or the dimensionless whdth of band pressure(.xi.=C/.root.RH) is greater than 2, but the effect of axial stress is of considerable importance when the axial stress is greater than 0.3 and the width of band pressure is less than 1.
